Arrival
Jesse's POV
He's right...He's so right...
If we lose, then it'll be our fault. I don't what to imagine what would happen to Beacontown, and not just Beacontown either, everywhere. All those poor souls. All those disasters that we fixed would mean nothing if all we ended up doing was unleashing something just as bad. What have we really done? I couldn't find the words to reply so we stood in silence instead. A long silence. Lukas was stressed, I can see it in his eyes, and through the expression on his face. After about five minutes, Petra walked up to me and asked where the portal was and I simply pointed at it. She clearly didn't pick up on the mood of the room because she didn't say anything or give me a look, which she always does when she knows something is off. She then instructed Jess, Nell, and the robbers to all head through the passage and started to head through it herself.
I glanced over at Lukas and he just kinda glared at me. It wasn't an angry look, it was more of a 'I'm frustrated but I'm also sorry we disagreed' look. I tried giving him a weak smile but he looked away and began to walk forward. It felt like a dagger being plunged into my heart. Is he mad at me? Did I upset him? Or maybe it isn't me? I began walking toward the passage and started heading up the stairs just behind the rest of the group.
~Time skip~
When we did eventually get to the top of the staircase, we were surrounded by an endless void of different shades of neon purple. In front of us is a floating quarts bridge and, of course, more stairs. As we started walking across the floating bridge, Petra (as expected) looked at me with a 'what's wrong?' look on her face. She slowed down her pace to allow me to catch up and I didn't bother trying to avoid my upcoming "Petra talk". I caught up to her and, as I expected she asked me: "Something wrong?" I didn't see any reason to try to lie to Petra. She's like the sister I never had. And so I told her about my conversation with Lukas, talking about how he was right about this time being different than our other adventures. I also told her that I was afraid that I accidentally upset him even more. Petra was patient and listened carefully. Once my story was over and I was done expressing my concerns, she carefully thought for a moment before responding-
Petra:" Lukas deeply cares about his friends and when he's concerned about them, he tends to lose his cool a bit. In fact it's one of the few things that causes him to lose his cool. He loves you, and fears what might happen to you and everyone else if something goes wrong. That's just how Lukas is." She replied calmly. I thought about what she said and, she wasn't wrong. I already knew this about Lukas but sometimes you just need to have someone remind you. I'll have to talk to him later, try to calm him down. I turned back to Petra and thanked her for helping me. She simply nodded and smiled.
The entire group stopped as we faced a pair of Dark oak doors. We all paused but after a moment, Nell flung open the doors to reveal: nothing. Just another white void of nothing. No walls, no floor, no sealing, nothing. Not that I was surprised. I had been through these doors before and knew what was beyond them, or rather, what wasn't beyond them. The robbers, Jess, and Nell all looked confused, as they weren't expecting nothing but a blank space. I took a deep breath and slowly began to walk into the void, only to very suddenly fall. But it hardly felt like falling, since all you could see was white, it would be very hard to tell, and the only reason I knew I was falling is because when I looked up, I saw the doorway above me. But as soon as I knew it, I wasn't in the void anymore. However, I was still falling. I wasn't able to get a good look at my surroundings before landing on some sort of soft, cold substance. Snow. Cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold! Before I was able to lift my head, I heard a muffled man's voice yelling "Stop!"
Hey everyone! Hope you liked this chapter and thank you for 100 views! In celebration, I will be uploading a couple of my artworks onto here. I'm an artist more than I am a fanfic writer sooo...yeah. Those posts will be out shortly after I publish this chapter so keep an eye out for that. Anyway, have a good rest of your day, bye!
