Chapter 43: Black Envelope.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My first love.
You're the first,
You're the last,
Nothing comes in between cause you were the start,
Within this infinity loop
I lost my heart,
And when I came to retrieve it back,
I got nothing but a broken heart.
I was in the hospital.
Was the first information that got through my brain. The air around me had this undertone of bleach and the continuous beeping voice that was going beside me indicates only one thing, that currently I'm being monitored.
It hurts, it hurts really bad.
I haven't opened my eyes yet, but the fate which waits in front of me is scaring. And it scares me, it scares me till my death, thinking about my life ahead, it suddenly seems to be the most difficult task.
I lost my mother and I never had a father to begin with, but the truth about Adam Trystine being my father hit me really hard.
I almost lost my sane, thinking about him. Just by looking at his name marked on the headstone was frightening enough, the mere thought that he is gone and beyond my reach scares me.
Life is really funny, all my life I hated my father thinking that he was a vile person, but how wrong I was. Adam Trystine was nowhere close to be vile; he was just a perfect man that anyone can dream of.
Now that I think of, I haven't really thought about him, all I did was to collect information about James Trystine. The man who apparently kept the secret, and I don't blame him for that. He knew it would be difficult for me.
Adam Trystine, my father, the man who my mother once loved I suppose. Then what went wrong, how come they left each other, as much as I'm aware of my mother was high on morals. Conceiving a child before marriage was surely reprimanded by her. So what was the reason?
If I think about Adam Trystine, he was really a smart man, smart enough to literally build an empire of his success right out of the scratch.
According to his life story that I read once in the newspapers, he was a man of his words. He never revealed much of his personal life, he preferred privacy and it wasn't just him Trystine's were known to be under wraps. They don't really like media intervention in their life. And for once I agree with them, reporters can be nasty little creatures. He was really successful in establishing his company 'Motive Next' which involved developing latest softwares and technology.
One of the reasons why I admired him the most was because we shared similar interests.
I smiled at the thought of him being my father. If he would be alive, there are so many things we could talk of. There is this little part in me that tell that he would be really pleased to know that I'm into these geeky stuffs.
I only wish he was alive.
I opened my eyes at the thought of it; bright lights blinded me for a second, as I adjusted my peripheral studying the hospital room I was in. There were needles poked inside my veins, deadly tubes pushed inside me lungs which will help me to breathe, bandaged hand indicating my broken wrist. And a big band on my forehead which tells me that I got myself into a nasty accident. It was my sheer luck that I had gone through it alive, but I vaguely remember a voice before the accident, it was familiar, I can tell that for sure.
I heard the door knob turning, as I waited for the person to come in. To my surprise it was James Trystine who came to visit me, looking at him I finally can put a face to the voice I heard. It was him; it was him who was there with me during the accident. He looked quite tired enough, his loosened tie and crisped shirt indicates he haven't been home for days. At this point I really wonder, was it me. Was it because of me that he hasn't gone home yet, immediately a pang of guilt formed inside my heart.
As soon as he looked at me, his dark brown eye's immediately softened, he exhaled a shaky breathe as he walked right in front of me.
"Kiara, I'm glad that you're awake. We had been worried sick for you, do you remember what actually happened there. You lost it, that too really bad. Everything happened so fast, you got traumatised with your father's loss and then you ran away only to get hit by a car. I was damn scared when I saw your figure lying on the side of road, you lost quite a lot of blood" explained Mr James Trystine, as he looked quite shaken up and most importantly he looked worried.
Immediately tears brimmed in front of my eyes, he actually cares for me even though I'm not his own child.
"I'm sorry-" were the only words that I could choke out. Mr James Trystine's face immediately softened as he came forward to give me a hug.
"It's alright child, I know its been difficult for you, but you're safe and I'll make sure that no harm comes to you".
There was this hidden promise in those words he said, I never really thought a person like Mr James can be so soft if he wants to.
"I know that you have so many questions going through your mind and most importantly you want to know about your parents. Unfortunately we have lost both of them and they're not with us anymore, but there is an explanation of your parents for sure." said Mr James as he removed a black envelope from his pocket; it was a crisped old letter for sure.
I wonder what it was.
"This is a letter written by your father and my brother Adam, it is addressed to you. Adam wrote it exactly two days before he died and he personally informed me to give it to you on your 18th birthday, the day when you'll eventually get crowned. But I guess I need to give you this early, because of the circumstances you're in. Take your time child" said Mr James as he softly caressed my hair leaving me alone in the hospital room, not before closing the door behind him silently.
Immediately I looked at the black envelope, it was surely old. Adam Trystine died five years ago, so this letter is a few days older than that.
Tears welled up in my eyes just by reading the name on the envelope. Written in white ink was my name.
To my beloved daughter
Kiara Matheli Millenrai Trystine.
The only thing struck my attention was the mention of my last name, it was written Trystine. And I wondered why.
So I started reading, the sheer truth of my life.
Dear Kiara,
I know what you're thinking child, I know that you've learned to hate me all these years and now when you're of the age I think you deserve to learn the truth of your parents.
Today it would be your big day, today you'll be wearing the crown that you're destined for, eventually the crown of Millensh was to be claimed by your mother, but due to her circumstances she never got a chance to wear it.
I know how big this is for you, it's not easy for you to all of a sudden become the owner of such a huge empire, but I know that your mother is proud of you and so does your grandpa, after all Millenrai blood runs into your veins.
To the question you'll be waiting for, why did I left your mother? But did I, Do you really think that I left your mother when she needed me the most. I don't know what lies you've been fed by the others but today I want to share this story with you. The Dark Story of my Life, the story of 'Adam and Matheli'.
I still remembered the day when I first time met your mother, young Matheli was feisty and unpredictable.
She had this aura of authority around her; after all she came from a Royal family. And trust me the first time I saw her I knew that she was the one, I know it sounds strange but I already knew that she would be the number one priority of my life. And she eventually did.
We were in the same classes, we had gone to the same social events, it seems everywhere we go fate was trying to bring us together and I never complained about it, Matheli was smart and a beautiful woman she exactly knows what she wants and for that I admired her the most.
In my eye's she was a perfect queen, my queen. James my elder twin brother, he was quite close to Matheli, they were best of friends and I say without a doubt that James and Matheli had this unbreakable friendship that even I can't by pass, sometimes I did get envious of him. But I knew very well there's nothing more going between them.
It was during the sophomore year when I decided to finally confess my feelings to her and for the first time in my life I saw Matheli Millenrai cry. She was shocked, she confessed she also loved me, but she had a theory. Yes a theory, Matheli Millenrai was a twisted person, ever heard about the veils of the grape wines, never ending yet twisted in their own vehement way. That was Matheli Millenrai for you, a twisted case of puzzle, that no one can solve, not even me.
She told me she was promised to Vridhaan Aham, one of my rivals back in high school, I did knew that he was related to Matheli, being the co-member of the House Matheli's Parents ruled in. At first I thought she was joking, no way can she be serious in something so canonical, but to my surprise she was damn serious.
I wanted to scream at her, I wanted to argue with her, I wanted to fight for her and let her know that how much she meant to me, but she said she had dreams. She had her own priorities at that time; I knew I wasn't her top most priority not just yet.
One day all of a sudden, without any words she stopped talking to me, I could have been completely devastated with her, but I didn't loosed hope. I dived in her family history learned about the Royal family of Millensh, I found the truth of her.
Matheli Millenrai was destined to be the queen of Millensh right from the day she was born, her family practised this ceremony which involves the crowning and the most astonishing truth was Matheli Millenrai was never forced into doing this, she was willingly doing this, and she wanted to change some rules.
By being one of the rulers of Millensh, she wanted to bring a good change, it was her ambition and there is no way I could stop her doing this. After all whatever she was doing, it was for good.
Further prying I found that, her step brother Randhir Millenrai had apparently thought that if Matheli marries, he would be the one next on the family throne, he wanted to sell Millenrai Shipping's, the business her forefathers worked so hard on, eventually he was planning to sell the company to some Japanese firm, which would have eventually caused a lot of unemployment for the workers working in the company and most of them came from the poor families, Matheli never wanted this to happen, so she chose not to marry.
After learning the truth, I confronted her and that was her breaking point, she couldn't help it but let it all out, it was during our senior high school year that I came to know about it; both Matheli and I were seventeen. It was me who suggested Matheli to date James; eventually James willingly volunteered. Our only purpose was to get some reaction from Vridhaan Aham, after all Matheli was promised to him. But the only thing we forgot was that he was an Aham. And one thing you should know Kiara, never trust an Aham in your life, they can be sickeningly manipulative.
By the time we realised Vridhaan was obsessed with Matheli, he knew one day or other she would to marry him, after all he knew Matheli will never betray her family.
High school got over, Matheli went back to Millensh and I went to college for further studies, there was still time. Apparently Matheli had managed to convince Vridhaan Aham that he needs to wait until they both turn twenty eight. At that time they both were 18, Matheli thought it would be too early to get married as she wanted to go to college and want to save her father's company from the clutches of Randhir.
To my surprise Vridhaan Aham willingly agreed and as much as I hate to say this, he loved your mother to the bits. It made me feel much morepossessive about Matheli whenever Vridhaan was mentioned. Nevertheless, we got some more time to think, but who can stop the fate.
Our Love was a secret from the outside world, we dated in secrecy, no one knew about us except James. For the world I became a twenty-five year old multimillionaire and Matheli became a renowned fashion designer, but I guess that wasn't enough for us.
We married in 1999, in total secrecy. It was a court marriage, at that time we thought that it's been years Vridhaan would have totally forgotten about the promise. But we were wrong, he strike back again and this time he forced your mother into this, he already knew that she was married to me in secrecy. I still don't believe how he came to know about us, nevertheless he knew.
So he forced your mother to give me a divorce and Matheli did it without any regrets, for her the company matters far more than me. And I totally agree with her, work always comes first. She just couldn't let her father company get destroyed by her step brother, so she took the harsh decision. But she forget one thing, she forget a tiny little detail. She never told anybody that she was already three months pregnant with you.
She fought alone in this world; she tried destroying every contact with me, as she thought it would be the best for us to never talk again.
Then came the day when my little ray of sunshine was born, everybody thought that you were a mistake, a child born from the sheer rendezvous of your mother. Everybody blamed your mother for being a single parent, but only some of the top most authorities of Millensh knew whose child it was.
You were never a mistake Kiara, you were a child born out of Love.
Your mother was banished from her title after you were born, there was this secret meeting held in Millensh, which involved some of the harsh decisions taken by Matheli's father, the King of Millensh on the advice of Jyaya The Third. Personally I knew the good old Jyaya, he was certainly a smart man and also the one who promised his life for the welfare of the crown of Millensh. It was his and Matheli's father's decision to make you the next ruler of Millensh, they made sure that they wouldn't do the same mistake as they did for your mother, that's why they kept you under wraps.
But nevertheless I came to know about you, I was really bewildered, with the very thought that Matheli tried to hide you from me, I was really very upset with her. And I knew that I needed you, I didn't want you to be under the clutches of those Royals, by the time I already learned my lesson that never to trust them.
So I dragged your issue into the court's where I already know that Millenrai family can never dictate their decisions on it. I was desperate, desperate to claim you as my own. And eventually I did, you officially became a Trystine that day and I won your custody. Matheli wasn't keen enough to let you go, she personally begged me not to do so. And as much as I hated her for doing this to us, I still loved her.
So I had this unbroken promise with her, that until and unless Kiara, you came searching for me. We Trystine's will stay away from you, but when the time comes and when you yourself come searching for me that will be the day, I'll claim you back as my own and I'll never let you go. Matheli was confident in her decision, and if you're reading this letter before your birthday, you must already know who won.
Unfortunately child, I won't be there to watch you grow. It pains me in the heart to say this, but Daddy needs to go somewhere good, somewhere I won't be able to see you again. But I promise you, even though I won't be there with you, you always have a place in the Trystine family. You can always trust on my twin brother James, I trust him by my life.
The only reason why I have done all these things for you is to make sure that you won't be forced to take decisions just like your mother. I wish a better life for you Kiara,
A life of freedom.
~Daddy
Adam Trystine.
