Chapter 19
"Nicely done! You've seriously gotten better at using multiple abilities at once!" Kaz complimented as the simulation powered down, I gave him a small smile
"Thanks, but anything with my lightning powers yet?" I asked
"Sorry Scarlett, only spikes here and there when you try to conjure them. Otherwise, nothings there," Oliver sadly spoke
"They have to come back at some point though right? I'll never be able to take on the Shadow Twins without it," I sighed, sitting down in a chair and rubbing my sore neck from where the last needle was injected
"Why don't you just have Surge come with you? Or Spark?" Kaz suggested
"Claire and TJ are my fight, I'm the only hero who knows exactly what their capable of, even some things about them are a mystery to me. I can't put that responsibility on anyone else. So I need these powers back, ASAP," I explained
Then my phone beeped, I immediately picked it up and smiled
'Movie night, you up for it?' Chase asked, I smiled and texted him back
'I'll pick up some snacks on my way home. We'll use my room' I replied
'Good thinking, I'll see you when you get back! <3' Chase replied
'What would I do without you?' I asked, a smile plastered on my face
'Be movie-less obviously' Chase replied, I laughed
"What's so funny?" Kaz suddenly asked, I smiled and turned off my phone
"My boyfriend knows how hard I've been training lately so he's arranging a movie night for us. He's just the sweetest, but his sass is a little much sometimes," I replied, chuckling
"Oh," was all Kaz had to say, which was weird. Usually Kaz doesn't stop talking
"You're talking with your boyfriend again! Your so lucky!" Skylar squealed as she came my way, basically shoving Kaz out of the way
"Oh I wish you guys could meet him one day! I think you guys would really like him! He's super smart, kind, selfless, he's just perfect!" I sighed happily
"You better go now! You don't want to miss this movie night! Go! Get out of here!" Skylar ordered, beginning to shove me to the door
I laughed, "Alright I'm going! I'm going! I'll catch you guys later!"
~~~~~~~~~
"I've got snacks and drinks, which movies are we watching?" I asked Chase as I set all the items on the table
"I was thinking White Chicks, we could probably use a comedy right about now," Chase smiled as he held up the DVD
"Pop 'er in!" I chuckled, flopping down on my couch as Chase put the movie in
Once he finished he plopped down in the space next to me, he put his arm around me as I snuggled into his side
"What ever would I do without you Chase?" I smiled
"I ask myself the same thing about you," Chase smiled, kissing the top of my forehead as we continued to watch the movie
~~~~~~~~~
After a long night of a movie marathon we somewhat regretted it since we had school the next day, but it didn't effect us too much. But Bree, Chase, and I decided to walk together this morning to school
"Hey! Stooges! And Scarlett!" Perry suddenly yelled at us when we walked into the school. I rolled my eyes as she said, "My niece is visiting from, uh, wherever she lives, and I'm going to assign you three to be chaperones for a couple of days."
The three of us looked at each other wide eyed and began to come up with any excuses we could think of
"Oh, uh, well, you see I can't-" Chase began to say.
"As nice as that sounds, Principal Perry, the thing is-" I began say
"We are so sorry, but-" Bree began to say
But Perry cut all of us off by saying, "Oh, that's so cute! You think you have a choice!" She laughed at us, and I just groaned on the inside. This woman actually hates us
"But why would you want us to show her around? You can't stand us, well you can't stand two us," Bree pointed out
"Oh, you've noticed." Perry said touched, "Look, my niece is sweet and innocent. If she hangs around the cool kids, they'll corrupt her. That's why she's hanging with you. If it's unclear, let me spell it out. You're not cool." She laughed at us again, and it was taking everything in me to not snap at her, but I ha to stay on Perry's woodside
"Well, you two aren't. I'm mainly putting Scarlett in so you don't make my niece uncool to," Perry added
"Hi, Aunt Terry!" I heard a small voice say from beside me.The four of us turned around saw a little girl, no older than thirteen, with short, brown hair and glasses standing next to us. She had a smile on her face as she stood there
"Kerry, darling!" Perry said to her niece, "This is... uh, give me a second... Kevvvinnnn..." She said hesitantly as she pointed at Chase, "Susssaaannn..." She said as she pointed at Bree, "And Scarlett." She said shortly as she pointed at me
"Bree, Scarlett, and Chase," Bree corrected her.
Perry just laughed and said, "No one really cares."
"Nice to meet you! I'm Kerry Perry," Kerry said as she shook our hands, "Thanks for showing me around. I hope it's not too much of a bother."
"What is up with their names always rhyming?" I muttered to Chase
"You know, I was honestly wondering the same thing," He muttered back
"No, no. We are happy to be forced to help," Bree said to her with a small eye roll
"Great. Now, if you'll excuse me, I heading to the chem lab to sear off a wart," Perry said to us
We all cringed as she showed us the huge wart on her palm. I did my best not to vomit as she walked away. That woman always managed to almost make me sick somehow. Once Perry was gone, Kerry turned towards us and she had a glare on her face. My eyes widened in surprise. What in the world just happened?
"Here's the deal, ladies," She began, which made Chase confused, "I'm skipping school and hitting the mall, and when I get there, I'm going to plant a dead fly in my burrito so I can get it for free."
"Wow, I should've seen that coming," I said as I felt stupid for not realizing she would be evil in some way
"Sorry, but as your chaperones-" Chase began
"Shut it, squat mug!" Kerry yelled at him, which made him take a step back in surprise, "The little elves called. They want you back at the tree to make cookies."
Bree took a step forward and said, "Um, uh, you can't talk to us like that."
"Just did, boy hips." Kerry said, which made Bree gasp offended, "I'm out of here."
She began to walk out of the building, but I said to her, "You can't just leave? Do you know what your evil aunt would do if she found out we let you leave?"
She glared at me, walked over to me, and smacked my books out of my hands. They went crashing onto the floor and my jaw dropped.
I glared at her as she said, "Tell her I was with you three nimrods all day. And you better do my homework, or else, you'll get this," That's when she began to fake cry, "Aunt Terry, they were so mean to me! Make them pay! Make them pay!" Once she was done fake crying, she glared at me and said, "So we good? Later peeps."
She walked out of the building, and Chase bent down to pick up my stuff.
I gave him a smile in thanks before he said, "Oh, she's definitely a Perry."
"You think?" I asked sarcastically
He just gave me a look before picking up my small notebook and throwing it back on the ground
"You know, just for that. No more kisses for the rest of the day," I scoffed, beginning to walk off
"Wait what? No! Babe I'm sorry! Please don't do that!" Chase shouted as he ran off after me
~~~~~~~~~
At the end of the day, we had gotten all of Kerry's homework done by the time she got back to school. Not going to lie, Bree and I made Chase do most of it. The only thing we did was her art project. If it's even possible, I might hate her a little more than Perry at the moment. And just to show her that, I didn't do much for her art project. I may be nice but I'll get mean if I want to
"Math homework, chemistry homework, history homework," Chase said annoyed as he handed Kerry her homework
"And here's your art project," Bree said as she handed her the rolled up poster board
"Don't expect an A," I added
"Don't expect a thank you," She shot back at me.
Then she turned to Bree and said, "Now give me twenty bucks."
"For what?" Bree asked confused
"Milkshakes for me and my girls. Fork it over, princess!" Kerry said to her. Then she just reached into Bree's purse and pulled out a twenty dollar bill
My mouth gasped open at her with a glare as Chase began to laugh, "You just got a shake down by a preteen."
"I'm thirteen, bum sweat!" Kerry yelled at him.
Chase gave her a look before asking, "Were you raised by a gang of bikers?"
When I saw Perry walk out of the gym, I immediately grabbed Bree and Chase's arms and said angrily, "That's it. I've had enough of this," I pulled them over to Perry with me and I said to her, "Principal Perry, we need to have a little talk about your demon niece."
"We sure do," Perry agreed, "She loves you three!"
"What?!" Chase asked surprised.
"No, that's impossible." Bree said to her.
"I know! I find you two repulsive." Perry insulted Bree and Chase, and then said, "Thanks for watching Kerry. This morning, I got to spend an extra hour at the dog track!"
Bree began, "Okay, that's great, but now-"
Then Perry cut her off by saying, "Now, I need you to watch her tonight. I'm playing flag football with the sheriffs."
"And how do you get to play flag football with the sheriffs?" Chase asked her.
"Go to enough highway wrecks with free pizza and they let you in," Perry said, "Anyway, if you watch Kerry, I might just forget about the detention days you've accrued."
"What detention days?" Bree asked her confused.
"You mouthing off? You just got detention!" She said to her
"What?! You can't do that!" Bree exclaimed.
"Just did, Sally Side Burns!" Perry shot at her and then laughed.
Bree and I groaned at each other and groaned loudly. I've really had enough of this today
"That's it!" I finally exclaimed
"We are done wa-" Bree began to say.
"Woah, wait. Can you just give us one second please?" Chase asked Perry, cutting Bree off.
He grabbed our arms and pulled us to the side. "Look, the girl is a nightmare, but if we do this, we might just get in Principal Perry's good side," Chase said to us.
"The woman has many sides. None of them are good!" Bree pointed out.
Chase just gave the two of us a look. Bree looked at him for moment before sighing. Maybe Chase was right, as usual. Maybe if they do this, they might somehow end up getting on Perry's decent side. If that even existed.
"Fine. I'll do it," Bree said to him.
When we turned around, we saw Perry doing these weird stretches on the water fountain. Let's just say it gave everyone a much unneeded view of her backside. The three of us cringed as we walked over there.
"We've discussed it." Chase said once Perry stopped stretching, "And Kerry is more than welcome to come over tonight."
That's when Perry started laughing and said, "There you go again. Acting like you have a choice." She pinched Chase's cheek before turning back to the water fountain. She began to stretch again, and the three of us backed away and tried not to puke as she stretched in front of us. This school was honestly a nightmare
~~~~~~~~~
After school that day we went home as usual, but this time, we were there waiting for Perry's devil niece to show up. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to deal with Kerry Perry
When she finally showed up, Chase, Bree, and I realized that our night just got a whole lot worse. "Bye, Aunt Terry! Love you!" She shouted out the door as Perry drove away
When Chase shut the door, she immediately turned into her demon self and said, "Ugh, her car is disgusting. I don't know where the kitty litter ends and the cookie crumbs begin."
The three of us looked disgusted before Bree said, "Alright, Kerry. You're on our turf now so we're not going to put up with you bossing us around."
"I'm not staying with you losers! I'm going to the skate park to throw marbles in the half pipe and then sell ice packs in the parking lot." She told us with a grin, which made my eyes widen. What kind of people created a girl like her?!
"That is pure evil," Chase said to her
"You call it evil, I call it a lucrative side business," Kerry replied. We rolled our eyes as her phone went off
She checked it and then said, "My taxi's here. Don't wait up." She gave an evil laugh as she walked out the door
As she walked out, I hollered, "Make sure you trip over some marbles while you're there!"
When she shut the door, Bree asked Chase, "Aren't you going to go after her?"
"Aren't you going to go after her?" Chase asked Bree
"Why don't we all just go look for her?" I asked annoyed and they both looked at me, sighing but nodding
I really hated that girl. As the three of us went to walk out the door, Leo came running into the living room. He stopped in front of us and said, "Hey guys! Um, we have a serious problem with Adam!"
"Uh, you'll have to be more specific," Chase said to him
"Yes, there are five of him," Leo said as he held up his hand
"What are you talking about?" Bree asked confused
"We made duplicates," Leo said and our eyes widened
"What?!" Chase exclaimed
"Why would you do that?!" I exclaimed. Leave it to Leo to 'Leo' this up once again. Before Leo could answer me, Adam walked into the kitchen. There was only one of him, which made me wonder where the other four Adams were. That is officially the weirdest thing I've ever said
"Hey guys," He said as he walked into the kitchen with a piece of paper in his hand
"Adam, what are you doing up here? You're supposed to be downstairs watching the other Adams!" Leo said to him
"Hello? They're our guests! It would be rude to not offer them drinks." Adam said. He began to read off of the piece of paper, "Two waters, one OJ, and one berry infused decaf green tea, soy milk on the side. One of me is very high maintenance."
We all rolled our eyes and grabbed Adam. We pulled him into the elevator and went down to the lab. When the elevator doors opened, my jaw dropped. There were more Adams attempting to play 'rock, paper, scissors', but it really wasn't working out since they all kept picking the same thing. I could barely deal with one Adam. How in the world am I going to deal with five?
"Ugh, that's twenty in a row!" One of the Adams groaned
"More Adams? We will never be able to air this place out!" Bree said.
"See guys? There's nothing to worry about. They're all here," Adam said, but when I counted, I only counted four. Including the real Adam
"I thought you said there were four duplicates?" I asked him. "Yeah, one, two, three, four..." Adam said, but when he got to four, he pointed to himself. When he realized, his eyes widened and he said, "Uh oh."
"Just go track down the missing Adam! I'll keep an eye on them and find a way to reverse the duplication process. Where's the duplicator?" Chase asked
"Well, there's a shard of it underneath your shoe," Leo stammered. Chase's eyes widened, but I wasn't even surprised. Leo did tend to break a lot of things
"You broke the duplicator?!" Chase exclaimed
"Hey, that thing was squirting out an Adam every ten seconds! What did you want me to do?!" Leo asked him. He had a point. I would've done the same thing
"Just go find the missing Adam!" Chase groaned. We all ran upstairs and began searching the house for the missing Adam. Bree searched upstairs, Leo searched outside, while Adam and I searched downstairs. We searched for awhile, and by the time we searched the whole house, I groaned loudly. We were never going to find the missing Adam! When I walked back into the living room, I saw Adam searching underneath the pillows, but I didn't even question it
Chase came back up with a small device in his hand and asked him, "Do you really think your duplicate would be hiding under the cushions?"
"Oh, he's definitely been here. My couch cookies are gone," Adam told us
Chase and I just gave each other weird looks before turning back to Adam, "I figured out how to get rid of the duplicates. When an electrical current flows through them, they vaporize," Chase held up the invention he was holding and continued, "I already used this to vaporize three of them downstairs. Now we just have to find the last Adam that got away."
"Found him," Bree said as she walked in with the missing Adam. I let out a sigh of relief. Thank god
"Found him," Leo said as he walked in with another Adam. I immediately became confused as I looked back and forth between the two Adams
"I thought there was only one more Adam left?" I asked confused. The elevator dinged and when the doors opened, our eyes widened. There was at least fifteen more Adams that came piling out of the elevator and into the kitchen. How did this happen? I thought the duplicator was broken? Adam doesn't have the ability to clone does he?!
"No, no," Bree began to say, "I cannot handle this many Adams. The world cannot handle this many Adams. This is Armageddon!"
"It doesn't make any sense," Leo said confused, "If there's one thing I'm good at, it's breaking things, and I definitely broke that duplicator!"
Suddenly, Eddy appeared on the screen and said, "Oh, did I not mention that the duplicates can multiply on their own? They just had to learn how. And guess what? I taught them!"
We all groaned and rolled our eyes. When Eddy began to laugh, I picked up one of the pillows from the couch and threw it at him. He yelled, "Ow!" before disappearing again
"I actually hate him," I said for the millionth time in my life. The five of us jumped slightly when there was a knock on the front door
Perry's voice said, "Yoo-hoo! Anybody home?"
"Guys, that's Principal Perry!" Chase exclaimed quietly
"Great. So now, there are eighteen Adams walking around and no Kerry!" Bree exclaimed
"Shh. Let's just pretend we're not here," Chase said to us quietly
"Nobody breathe," I said quietly and Leo and Adam quickly covered their mouths. I don't know why I found it funny
"I heard that. You don't think my parents tried that on me at Christmas? Kerry, are you okay?" Perry asked and she began to knock on the door very loudly. She snapped, "Open up!"
"Everything's fine! We just need a second!" Chase hollered to her
"Listen up, little pigs. I've got a welding torch and a battering ram in my trunk," She began to say, but I quickly motioned at Chase to the other Adams. He seemed to get what I was saying and quickly made his way over to them. Perry continued, "This could go easy, or this could go hard."
Chase turned on the device and shot all of the Adams in the kitchen, causing them all to vaporize. Once he was done, I realized that he only vaporized seventeen Adams. Where was the last one?
"That's only seventeen. There's one left. Where is he?" Chase asked us
"I don't know," Bree said
"Look out below!" We suddenly heard from the chimney. Our jaws widened when there was a large crash from the chimney and a bunch of soot came flying out. Perry crawled out of the chimney and she tried to brush herself off, but it really wasn't working out.
"Did you just shimmy down our chimney?" I asked her surprised
"It's okay. I'm a professional. Used to be a chimney sweep back in the nineties. Learnt the hard way not to wear a skirt," She told me, and we all looked away disgusted. She turned towards Bree, Chase, and I and asked, "Where's my niece?"
"Uh, she's just getting her things together! She'll be out any minute." Bree told her.
"Hey guys," I heard Adam say, but when I turned around, I saw there were two of him. My eyes widened when I realized that there were two Adams standing in front of Principal Perry.
"Hey, Adam," Chase said, not realizing at first, but then his eyes widened and he exclaimed, "Adam?!"
"What's going on? Why are there two of you?" Perry asked and our eyes widened
Chase quickly lied, "You must have got some soot on your glasses!"
"Yes, you did!" Leo said quickly as he ran over to her. He took off her glasses and said, "Let's get those cleaned off right now."
Once Perry was in the kitchen, Bree and I turned to Chase and said, "Hurry up and zap him!"
Chase turned towards the Adams and asked, "Alright, which one of you is the real Adam?"
"I am," They both said
"What are you waiting for? Just zap them both." Bree said to Chase
"I can't. If I zap the real Adam, the jolt of electricity will fry his bionic infrastructure," Chase told her
"Well, you have to zap one of them!" I commented as I kept my eye on Perry as she rifled through the fridge. The last thing we needed was her finding out that there were two Adams
When Chase turned on the device, the Adams said, "May the best Adam win."
They went to shake hands, but they faked each other out
"Hurry up before Perry sees!" Bree snapped at Chase
"Your tartar sauce is expired! Can I have it?" Perry asked as she continued to look through the fridge
Leo turned to us and said, "I think you're good."
Chase turned towards the Adams and said, "Alright, which ever one of you is the real Adam, show me what you got."
"You asked for it," The Adam on the left said
Chase handed me the duplicator before the real Adam picked him up and threw him across the room. I quickly pointed the device and vaporized the other Adam. When he was completely gone, I turned the device off. Chase stumbled back over to us and he seemed relieved that the last duplicate was gone
"Nice job," He said to me as I handed him the device
"Thanks, babe. I've got the best aim," I said, winking to him
Perry peeked her head out of the fridge with a stick or salami and said, "Remember, the next time I come over, I like my salami spicy," She put her glasses back on and walked back over to us. She asked, "Now where is Kerry?"
"Uh, Kerry-" Chase began
"Oh, that girl," I nervously laughed
"You see, the thing is-" Bree stammered
"Kerry!" Perry said relieved, which cut all of us off. Bree, Chase, and I let out sighs of relief when Kerry walked through the front door. Part of me was disappointed she didn't get hit by some skateboarders, but Bree, Chase, and I would probably be dead right now if she wasn't here
"Aunt Terry!" She exclaimed, "You're here! I was just taking a stroll on their lovely grounds and I must've gotten lost."
"So you're okay?" Perry asked her.
"Okay? These three have been wonderful to me!" She exclaimed as she got in between Chase and I. Our eyes widened when she wrapped an arm around us and squeezed our waists tightly. She continued, "I'm just sad I'm not going to get to hang out with them anymore."
"Well, then I have some good news! I'm enrolling you at Mission Creek, so you'll get to spend every day with.... Steee.... and Duuu... and Scarlett." She said as she tried to get Bree and Chase's names right. Can't she just be nice to them for once?
"Bree, Scarlett, and Chase," Bree corrected her again
"Yeah. I still don't care," Perry said while she laughed. We just groaned as Perry laughed and Kerry hugged us tightly. Kerry Perry better never come near me again. If she does, I might start thinking about skateboarding
~~~~~~~~~
That night after Perry and Kerry left, Adam, Bree, Chase, and Leo all invited me to stay over and watch a movie with them. We were waiting for the pizza we ordered while we watched the movie. We were all laughing at a funny scene when the doorbell rang
"Pizza's here. I'll get it." Adam said
While Adam got the pizza, we all continued to laugh at the movie. When Adam placed the pizza on the table and sat back down, he said, "That's so weird. That pizza guy looked just like me."
When we all realized what just happened, we groaned
"Uh oh," Adam said
"Just when I thought we got them all," I said as I stood up
"Oh boy," Leo said
"Yup," Bree said
"I'll grab the zapper," Chase said
We all shot up from the couch and ran out of the house to hunt down another Adam
Honestly I don't think Adam and Leo should be left alone together ever again
