The day after, Guam

An's POV:

After McPearson and I talked to Maho about the matter of bringing Miho with us so that she can recover from her injury, she agreed, only on the condition that Miho be an observer in our side, and that she be given the same treatment as the rest of the boys, to which I agreed, since I was planning on keeping Miho with me in my barracks anyways so that I can watch her (not in a bad way, it's just that I don't want anything bad to happen to her without my supervision). The preparations went, pretty smoothly, as Miho's crew gave her belongings to us so that she can at least feel at home and Miho assigned temporary command of the Ooarai Sensha Do team to a girl named Anzu, who was also the school president of Ooarai. We all packed our gear (and me hauling around Miho's belongings as well) and headed back to our base of operations. I was again sitting next to Miho in Anderson's T-15, while the crew and infantrymen were teasing me.

Anderson: So, I supposed you saved a damsel in distress and got yourself a girlfriend?

Me: Anderson. Just because I saved Miho because of her broken leg doesn't mean she's my girlfriend the second after.

Anderson: But judging from last night, you 2 looked awfully comfortable around each other. Though it wasn't just you sir. We saw McPearson with the Commander of Kuromorimine aka the Commander of Ooarai's sister cuddling as well.

McPearson: Hey! That wasn't my decision! It was Maho's!

I snickered while Miho understood a bit and giggled.

Me: Yeah, yeah, sure. And you looked pretty happy as well with Maho, cuddling each other and all.

McPearson: But Miho cuddled with you as well sir!

Me: Yeah, so?

McPearson: You 2 are in love, don't deny it.

Me: And you and Maho are also in love, so why haven't you 2 confessed to each other?

McPearson: Well I barely even know her!

Me: So me too. We have learning to get used too.

McPearson: Yeah, we sure do.

HSAW Infantryman: At getting cozy with some of the girls! (the rest of the crew and infantrymen inside my vehicle laughed)

Me: Private....just....let's just not talk about what happened last night, alright?

HSAW Infantryman: No sir. We'll still keep teasing you about it. It's juicy stuff.

Me: Fine......you win.

The rest of the ride went smoothly, as we arrived back to our base in 5 minutes.

5 minutes later, Pavilion, USAF Base, Guam

The HSAW infantrymen and the HSAW and TIAW crewmembers stood around the pavilion waiting for me and Commander Briggs to speak.

Briggs: So. You guys did a hell of a good job at that city yesterday. Thanks to some of our TIAW M4s stalling Kuromorimine and Ooarai long enough, the HSAW was able to take them by surprise and disabled all their tanks with those infantrymen over there (waves over to the HSAW infantrymen) and those IFV crews over here (waves to HSAW crewmembers). Really impressive on tactics, Lance Corporal.

Me: Thanks. Though we are not done here. Due to the ceasefire lasting for the next 3 days, the schools will be able to get their tanks back their bases and repair them. Also, in the 3 days, I say that we not only train for the next missions that our schools will have, since we still have some towns to capture, but to also rest up. You men deserve it.

HSAW and TIAW members: Yeah!

Me: Also, if you haven't noticed, we have a girl coming with us as well.

I then help Miho walk up to the podium with me and Commander Briggs.

Me: Say hello to Miho Nishizumi, Commander of the Ooarai Girls Academy.

HSAW and TIAW members: Hello Miss Nishizumi! (They all salute her)

Miho (salutes back and smiles): Hello there everyone! It's a pleasure to meet you all!

I could see that some of the TIAW members were sort of drooling, though it wasn't really that bad to be honest. It's probably because they never seen a girl before. For my guys though, they are already disciplined, so I think they will understand what I will say next.

Me: Before you guys say anything, I would like to note that yes, she is one of the 5 main commanders from the enemy team. But, due to her condition, and the fact that the overall Commander of the JSDF and the Kuromorimine Girls Academy, and Miho's sister, Maho Nishizumi, doesn't particularly trust the JSDF with the recovery of its members, due to some incidents in the past with Sensha Do, she has agreed that Miho will be staying with us for some time, until either she fully recovers, or she doesn't want to return, her choice. Also, Miho will be staying in my barracks for the time being and will be observing us in our tactics as a condition made by Maho for bringing Miho here.

I heard some snickers in the crowd when I said that.

HSAW Infantryman: But sir? Can she use that as reconnaissance so that the enemy team gets an advantage over us?

Me: I don't think she will be doing that anytime soon. Plus, she kind of has a change in heart now to be honest.

Miho: Yes, Lance Corporal Dương here is absolutely right. In the beginning, I thought I was fighting to protect the rights of Sensha Do and to dismantle your Organization. However, after seeing the HSAW and TIAW determination in battle, and the compassion of taking care of the wounded and checking tanks, regardless of faction, it opened my eyes to see that change can happen in a good way, and that there is another way.

Me: Yes, even if she is the enemy, she sees our side of the story as well.

Miho: And now, I would have liked to have fought you guys on friendly terms, not in a situation like this where your own Organization is at stake. But keep this in mind. Don't give up on what you're trying to achieve. You all are trying to stop the Federation from dismantling the USTO, so keep on doing what you are doing to make that happen. It's either you all win, or you all go home and lose. And I fully support you all, even if I am the commander of an enemy team.

Me: So gentlemen. Go meet up with the rest of the schools, bring back and repair tanks, and for my guys, keep on training on your rifles, and keep learning infantry tactics and special operations for the next battles, and get plenty of rest for the next 3 days, cause it's going to be a long year of fighting, and I don't want you all to lose what you learned in our school. Rõ chưa?! (Understood?!)

HSAW and TIAW members: RÕ! (Understood!)

Briggs: You heard him. Get to it!

The rest of the HSAW and TIAW scatter and go back to their respective barracks to do whatever I asked.

McPearson: So now what sir?

Me: Well, I have to get Miho situated into my barracks, so you and Briggs go down what you need to do.

McPearson: Yes sir. May I be dismissed? (he salutes)

Me: Yes, Private First Class. Dismissed! (I salute him and turn to Briggs) Briggs?

Briggs: Yeah?

Me: Are your men trained to use a firearm? Like pistols?

Briggs: Yeah, they are. They have decommissioned US Army M1911A1s as their service pistol, though no service rifle. So yeah, not as modern as your M45A1s kitted out with mini sights, lasers, and suppressors, and don't even get me started on your M4A1s, which are already top tier SOPMOD models. Also, we aren't as trained as you are as most of our guys are currently not serving, unlike where everyone in your team is all trained and currently serving in the US or Vietnamese militaries.

Me: Right. But it's good that you at least have self defense weapons, cause I have a belief things are going to get ugly from now on. (I switch to Japanese) Miho?

Miho (IJ): Hm?

Me (IJ): Does your school have any sort of self defense weapons? Like pistols or even batons?

Miho (IJ): No, we don't. Remember, we're not Americans, so we don't have the Second Amendment nor do we usually carry a weapon with us, as our matches last only at maximum a few days, not at least a month.

Me (IJ): Yeah, our ground war facilitates the need for self defense weapons. For example, my school is equipped with the Colt M4A1 and HK M27 as the service rifles, since that's what the US Army and US Marines use, respectively, and the Colt M45A1 MEUSOC pistol as the .45 ACP packs a better punch than the 9mm Sig M18 or M17.

Miho (IJ): That would make sense.

Briggs: Anyways, I got to go. Kind of tired.

Me: Well, Briggs, take care then.

Briggs: Yes sir.

Briggs then leaves, which leaves Miho and me left standing in the pavilion. Miho then does something unexpected and holds my hand.

Me (IJ) (while I'm blushing): Miho. What are you doing?

Miho (IJ) (while blushing): Just...holding your hand. When you saved me, I felt safer when I'm in your arms or just around you in general.

Me (IJ): Okay. But just don't make it obvious for the others, alright?

Miho (IJ): Okay.

Me (IJ): Anyways, I got to take your stuff to my barracks. So should we m'lady? (I chuckle)

Miho (IJ) (giggles): Yes, we should, m'lord.

I picked up her belongings on one hand and Miho held onto me as support and held my other hand. We then slowly move to my barracks, as Miho's leg was still an obstacle to walking fast for Miho.

A few moments later, An's crew barracks

We then arrived to my barracks after some time, with me putting her belongings down on a spare bed in the room, while I prepared the mattress and blankets for her. Miho got to unpacking her stuff and making herself at home.

Me (IJ): -And there you go. This should your home when you are recovering, though I will have you go on some battles with me, since, you're my observer, though I kind of have to kick Hưng out.

Miho (IJ): That's a shame. Isn't he your gunner?

Me (IJ): He is, though he's good at adapting, so I guess it should be fine.

Miho (IJ): If you say so.

As I was about to lie on my bed, Miho did something unexpected again. She went over to my bed and laid right next to me. By this point I was probably red like crazy.

Me (IJ): Miho? What are you doing? You have your own bed you know.

Miho (IJ): But I feel safer in your arms. You were my savior after all. You could have chose to take us all as prisoners and mistreat us, but you did the opposite, and helped me in particular.

Me (IJ): It's just based on my ethics to help people when they're hurt. Plus, to me, I can't have a sweet girl like you be mistreated. I've seen that plenty already.

Miho (IJ) (blushing and cuddling closer): I just want to say thank you for everything. Even when meeting us, you didn't lash at us like I expected you all to. And..

Me (IJ): And?

Miho (IJ): Thank you for treating me while I was in pain. You're a good person. (she giggles)

Me (IJ): No problem. Plus, have you already seen McPearson with Maho?

Miho (IJ): Yes I did. They are really cute and definitely a match for each other. Calm, understanding, caring. Kind of reminds me of us.

Both of us blushed even redder.

Me (IJ): Uh...

Miho (IJ): Oh I'm sorry! I didn't mean to confess to you like that!

Me (IJ): It's fine. Also, I heard your dream yesterday before Maho and McPearson came in.

Miho (IJ): Eh?! You did?

Me (IJ): Yes. I just want to say that.....I love you too.

Miho looked away from me for a second after I confessed to her in reality.

Me (IJ): You're a sweet, and in my eyes, a very beautiful girl. You're also pretty calm just like your sister, but also a joy to have around, and I can see why. Then again, you already know about me. Just the fun murdering person I am who has PTSD and war flashbacks as usual. (I sigh)

Miho (IJ) (hugs me): No you're not! You are the savior of the world! Without your contributions, the whole world would be in the midst of another nuclear war! It would be the Cold War all over again. But you stopped it, and that's what matters! Don't blame yourself for the faults of that one man!

Me (IJ): I know, I know.

What Miho did next would surprise me. Miho brung my face to hers, and kissed me in the lips. At first I was surprised, but I gave into the passion, and we continued kissing for 2 minutes before breaking to get some air.

Me (IJ): That was.....unexpected.

Miho (IJ): I just wanted to show my love for you.

Me (IJ): Well damn...I know it's going to be cringey to say this again, but I love you for all you are. And...will you go out with me?

Miho (IJ): Yes! Of course!

Me (IJ): Though I will try to keep our relationship as secret as I can. I just don't want everyone to know that we're dating, as for one, they will tease me all day about it, and two, they may think I'm aiding the enemy. So, that means no holding hands when we're outside with other people, though when we're alone, I will tolerate it. Also, if you want to sleep next to me, wait until the others have gone to sleep, okay my sweet loving girlfriend?

Miho (IJ): Of course, my handsome boyfriend.

Me (IJ): Okay. (I yawn) I'll be going to sleep for a bit now. You could stay here i-

By the time I about to say the last few words, I could see that Miho has already cuddled with me and put her head on my chest and started to fall asleep. I then smile and wrap my arms around her and kissed her forehead.

Me (IJ): Sweet dreams for now, my little angel.

I then let sleep overtake me afterwards. Tommorow and the few days after are probably going to be long days in preparation for the next battles up ahead.

Me (sighing to myself): This is going to be a very long year...
