|The devil wears pink|
It was a beautiful morning and Judith made her way to the great hall for breakfast. The sat down at the Slytherin table and took out the schedule for the week. First she had History Of Magic with Professor Binns. Judith wasn't a big fan of the subject, not that it wasn't interesting but professor Binns boring and slow voice made it impossible to listen for more than ten minutes. After History Of Magic she would have Potions with Professor Snape. Snape wasn't a lovely teacher, but he never took points from the Slytherins. After that she had Divination with Sybill Trelawney, Judith disliked her very much. She thought that everything about how the planets explained how your day would be going was bullshit. There's no way that was true. And of course after divination she had Defence Against the Dark Arts class. Judith groaned and ate her bacon. Professor Binns class would start in fifteen minutes, Judith put down her schedule in her fabric bag and made her way to the classroom. She sat herself down and put her books and notepad on the desk. The class went by slower than ever and Judith just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. She wrote down everything on the board and soon the bell rang. The whole class walked out and made their way to Potions with professor Snape. Even though they had a double lesson with Snape, it went pretty fast. Judith liked the subject, It was fun to brew all kinds of different potions and Snape never took points from her. But poor Harry lost points for Gryffindor as soon as he opened his mouth, it wasn't fair to treat him or any other student like that. Well, the class was dismissed and they now had lunch for an hour. Judith made her way once again to the great hall, she went through the big doors and sat down at the Slytherin table.
"Hi, Judith!"
She looked up and in front of her Bobbie had sat herself down.
"Hi, Bobbie." Judith answered with a smile.
"Are you exited for divination later?" Bobbie said with a chuckle.
She knew how much Judith hated Divination. Judith raised her eyebrows and answered with an "of course". Them both started laughing. They talked about what they though they were going to do during the lesson and soon it was time to go to class. The classroom was very small, At least twenty small, circular tables were crammed inside it, all surrounded by chintz armchairs and fat little pouffes. Everything was lit with dim, crimson light; the curtains at the windows were all closed, and the many lamps were draped with dark red scarves, as always. It was stiflingly warm, and the fire which was burning under the crowded mantelpiece was giving off a heavy, sickly sort of perfume as it heated a large copper kettle. The shelves running around the circular walls were crammed with dusty-looking feathers, stubs of candles, many packs of tattered playing cards, countless silvery crystal balls and a huge array of teacups. Bobbie and Judith sat themselves down in two armchairs and waited for the class to begin. Pofessor Trelawney told them about dreams and how they were going to write their own dream diary.
"Long ago, it was thought that dreams contained important information, and/ or predict the future which sometimes they did, but often in a hidden form, like the riddle form prophecies take. Dream interpreters were hired for royalty to interpret their dreams. It is one of the oldest forms of divination."
Professor Trelawney started.
Judith stopped listening after a while and went into day dreaming. But the day dream was soon interrupted by a voice.
"Miss Neve?"
"Huh? What was the question?" She said as her face turned red.
"What was your last dream?" Trelawney said quite irritated.
"I don't remember, professor."
"Well, what was the last dream you remember?"
Judith stomach turned. The last dream she remembered was about her aunt forcing and threatening her to join the deatheaters. It was a nightmare Judith had dreamed over and over again.
"I was flying over London with my cat." Judith said shortly.
Trelawney looked at her suspiciously. But nodded and turned to Lavender Brown, Judith took a deep breath looked out of the window. The class was soon dismissed and they walked to defence against the dark arts classroom.
When they entered the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom they found Professor Umbridge already seated at the teacher's desk, wearing the fluffy pink cardigan of the night before and the black velvet bow on top of her head. Judith was again reminded forcibly of a large fly perched unwisely on top of an even larger toad.
"Good morning children."
She smiled again sweetly and lowered her wand. As she walked between the desks, the witch waved her wand and spelt out what she wrote.
"Ordinary. Wizarding, Level, Examinations. ...more commonly known as Owls."
Umbridge stopped at the class front and smiled. Judith looked at Bobbie who rolls her eyes a little. The professor continued.
"Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so and the consequences may be severe."
With another flick of her pink encrusted wand, Umbridge sent text books floating round the class. The books landed heavily on desks and little particles of dust could be seen shooting into the air. Everyone studied the cover of the books and frowned.
"Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you'll be pleased to know, from now on you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved course of defensive magic. Yes?"
Hermione had raised her hand. Her face looked puzzled.
"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells?"
"Using spells?"
It almost seemed funny to the new teacher.
"Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom."
She made it sound as if it was the most basic and simplest thing in the world. Judith lent on her new, useless book and watched a Ron tried to wrap his head around the concept.
"We're not gonna use magic?"
"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk free way."
Harry looked mortified, and Judith couldn't blame him.
"What use is that? If we're attacked, it won't be risk free."
Professor Umbridge turned her back sharply and barked.
"Students will raise when they speak in my class."
Harry glanced at Hermione and Ron. Both his friends shrugged. Judith fiddled with the end of her braid whilst the professor continued.
"It is in the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations which, after all, is what school is all about!"
She tried to smile away the tension, but Harry was having none of it.
"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?"
Umbridge smiled, her eyes though revealed her worry and irritation. Judith hoped that Harry wouldn't push it.
"There is nothing out there, dear. Who do you imagine wants to attack children like yourself?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe, Lord Voldemort."
And once again the tension was back and worse than before. No one spoke, no one looked at Harry or Umbridge. The pink lady looked visible shaken and quite pale.
"Now let me make this, quite plain, you have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie!"
At this Harry snapped.
"Its not a lie. I saw him. I fought him."
Professor Umbridge turned sharply again and shouted at Harry.
Detention, Mr Potter!"
Harry glared at her.
"So according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?!"
"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident."
Harry began to shout.
"It was murder. Voldemort killed him. You must know this!"
"ENOUGH!"
At last, Umbridge couldn't hold her temper back. Quickly composing herself, she looked down at Harry.
"Enough. See me later Mr Potter. My office."
And with that she let out another small giggled and smiled that sickly sweet smile.
The class was dismissed and the school day was over. Judith couldn't believe what Harry had shouted to professor Umbridge. Of course she believed Harry but he shouldn't have shouted at her. He's probably in a lot of trouble. Judith went to dinner with Bobbie and after that the two went to the common room to do their homework. Judith had never had so much homework to do. After hours of doing their homework it was time to go to bed. Judith walked up to her dorm and put on her pyjamas, slowly going into sleep.
