Part 10

Daeun POV

When I woke up, I found myself in the King's chambers. I remember talking to Sungyeol by the pond, but the rest was a blur. Did I fall into the pond again Is that why I was no longer wearing the dress Jiyeon and I had picked out?

Since no one was around, I got up and slowly made my way back to the Crown Princess's chambers.

When I arrived, I smiled at Jiyeon and said "He said I looked pretty in the dress you chose."

"Huh?" Jiyeon responded.

"I'm really surprised by how dusty it has gotten in here. It's only been a year since I last cleaned, but it looks as though it has been decades" I joked. "Don't worry Jiyeon, I'll have this place cleaned up in no time at all" I smiled as I went back outside to grab a cleaning bucket.

Jiyeon POV

As she turned to leave, I noticed that she was wearing the jade norigae that Sungyeol had given to Daeun.

Before she left, I called out to her "Daeun?"

"Is something wrong?" she turned around to face me.

"Are you really Daeun?"

"Yes it's me" she seemed confused. "Are you alright?"

"Yes" I smiled as I felt overwhelmed with emotions. "I'm sorry."

"I'll be right back to clean up."

"Okay" I smiled again as I watched her leave the room.

How is this possible? I saw the Queen push her into the pond. She should be dead.

Daeun returned to my chambers and began cleaning the room. It was as though this was something she always did.

"Daeun?"

"Yes Jiyeon?" she responded as she continued to clean.

"Can I ask you something?"

"You just did" she laughed. She quickly finished cleaning and looked at me "What is it?"

"How long have we known each other?"

She looked a little concerned "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine" I smiled.

She nodded "I guess after being a ghost for so long, it's only natural that you would loose track of time. We've known each other ten years." She smiled at me and said "I'm so glad that we became friends. Otherwise I wouldn't have anyone to talk to in the palace."

"Ten years" I nodded. "I see. And what year is it now?"

"Are you really okay? You don't usually ask these kinds of questions."

"Please Daeun" I pleaded ernestly.

"The year is 2015" she spoke carefully. "Is everything alright?"

She is from the future. That is why we couldn't find her when she disappeared. It's all starting to make sense now. "Daeun" now it was my turn to speak cautiously "I need you to listen to what I have to tell you."

Daeun POV

I listened as Jiyeon explained everything to me.

"That's impossible!" I couldn't believe what she had said. "How could this be the past?"

"I know that it is hard to believe. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it as well, but that is the only conclusion I could come up with considering everything that has happened."

"Jiyeon?"

"Yes?"

"If what you said were true, then that means that Sungyeol is..."

"The King."

"OMO!"

"His father passed away a couple of years ago. He only recently ascended the throne."

My mind was a whirl trying to piece all the information together. "What is going to happen now?"

"Do you still love Sungyeol?"

I blushed "Yes! I've always loved him!"

"Then you should marry him."

My eyes widened in disbelief "If I marry him, what will happen to you?"

She chuckled a little "I'll just wait here until we meet again."

Sungyeol POV

I had left Daeun in the care of one of my female servants.

"Myungsoo" I spoke with authority.

"Yes, Jeonha."

"We have work to do. Follow me" I commanded.

"Yes, Jeonha."

We went to the archives to find the document my father had left behind for me. I knew that if we had this, that no one would be able to argue that Daeun was not suitable to be my wife.

When we returned to my chambers, Daeun was gone. "Where did she go?" I screamed at the maid I had left behind to take care of her.

"I don't know Jeonha" the maid cowered. "I left the room for a little bit so that I could get her something warm to drink when she woke up. When I returned, she was already gone."

"We need to find her quickly!"

"Yes Jeonha!" Myungsoo and the maid replied and then left.

I also rushed back to the pond in the hopes that I would find her there once more. When I arrived, there was no sight of her. "Where have you gone?" I whispered to myself. I hoped that she hadn't disappeared again.

"Jeonha!" Myungsoo screamed as he rushed over to me. "You need to come quickly!"

"What's going on?"

"Daeun... Your Mother..." he uttered as he tried to catch his breath.

That was enough to send me flying "Where?"

"Crown Princess's chambers" he called after me.

Miju POV

Rumors of an unknown maid entering the Crown Princess's chambers had quickly made their way to my ears.

"Who would dare enter that haunted place?" I asked the maid who came to report the incident.

"I don't know, Daebi-mama. I did not recognize her."

"Well, I think we should go and find out who this girl thinks she is. Don't you agree Myeongeun?"

"Yes, Daebi-mama" she smiled back at me. "I'd like to take a look at the one who thinks she can weasel her way into the King's favor."

With that said, we immediately took off for those creepy chambers in order to put that maid in her place. As we made our way towards the Crown Princess's chambers, it was apparent that the rumor had already spread throughout the palace.

"Where are you headed, Daebi-mama?" my father asked when he saw me.

"I'm just going to take care of a maid who has been causing some trouble in the palace" I smiled.

One of the other Ministers who was passing by happened to overhear my conversation and said "Why don't we all go and see if this maid is really causing trouble or not."

I smiled and said "You really don't need to trouble yourself with such trivial matters."

"If the rumors are true, this is not a trivial matter" the Minister countered.

"Very well then" I smiled and began to lead the way.

When we arrived, we found the maid in question just sitting in the middle of the room.

"Drag her out of here!" I commanded my servants. I didn't want to be inside the room any longer than I needed to be.
