(Mephiles' P.O.V.)

    I panic staring at my reflection. My perfect disguise gone. I ran out of energy to keep it up and now I stare at myself in my truest form locked in a bathroom with a worried (Y/N) on the other side of the door. I slow down my breathing muttering a few curses before my form returns to normal. I exit the bathroom with a sigh. "I'm sorry to have worried you. I'm alright, I promise." "Your eyes..." "Huh?" "They're different from his." I feel my body tremble as I fall to the floor. Ah... this must be my punishment for tricking her. "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter anymore." She pulls me to her chest as I continue to tremble. "Don't leave me alone anymore..." My disguise crumbles away right before her eyes as she sees my truest form, the form I tried so desperately to hide. Her (E/C) eyes are filled with shock upon seeing my form. She must be afraid of me... I had forgotten who I was and fell in love. I thought I could stay like that forever and the god of fate has just reminded me my place. I turn and run from her but as I flea I hear a small "Thank you..." Ah... please feel free to hate me all you wish, (Y/N)... After all, I meant to trick you in the beginning.

(Reader's P.O.V.)

    After he left I felt a stinging in my heart. I wonder if it's because he made me feel loved when my world was destroyed. I want to know who he really was. My heart aches knowing I'll never get the chance to ask him. He's left me all alone. It's like when Cinderella's spell finally fades away and she has to go back to being a housemaid again. I promised myself I wouldn't cry again but here I am on the floor of our... of my apartment crying over someone I didn't really know. But I felt like I've known him forever. To think all the things he put up with simply because I thought he was my Shadow. The person I was going to marry. The person I loved with all my heart. I should be upset that he tricked me like that. I should be angry that he took advantage of a girl's broken heart. But, I'm not angry. The only thing I feel is alone. He mended a broken heart only to break it again when his disguise faltered. I want to meet him again. I want to tell him thank you for bringing back my smile. I want to tell him that he made me happy and if he really wanted to, he could live with me. I don't like being alone. It's cold and empty. I'm sure he must feel the same. Maybe that's why he... pretended to be my Shadow. The tears haven't stopped falling and eventually I decide to go for a walk to clear my head. As I'm walking I bump into someone I've never met before. "Oh sorry miss. I wasn't watching where I was going." "That's okay I wasn't either." I look up to see a white hedgehog with golden eyes looking at me. "What's a (C/T) like yourself doing out here all alone? Aren't you worried about getting kidnapped or something?" "I can handle myself just fine. My late fiancé used to teach me self-defense." I look down at the ground filled with sorrow. My heart aches. "You look sad. Did something happen?" "I was recently visited by a kind stranger. He helped me forget about my pain and sorrow. But like a fairy tale, the magic had to end eventually and he left me." "Do you know what he looked like? Maybe I can help you find him. My name's Silver by the way." I give a sad smile, "I'm (Y/N)... And that's very kind of you Silver but I don't think he wants to be found." He tilts his head in confusion. "Huh? How come?" "Well, he ran away once his disguise disappeared." His eyes widen for a moment. "Wait, did you just say disguise?" I nod, "He disguised himself to look like my late fiancé. He stayed with me for about a month and then his disguise faltered. He ran away when I saw what he really looked like." Silver looks deep in thought before he speaks again. "And what did he look like?" "Like a monster, but he still looked like the person I fell in love with. Does that make any sense?" Silver suddenly grabs my hand and looks me in the eye with a serious look on his face. "Listen (Y/N), next time you see him, stay very far away."
