"Please Thessa." I tried again and she shook her head. "It's been 3 months! I know you have his number, please." I hugged her and she sighed.
"Seriously? Didn't you get the part where your family would kill you if you even looked at him?" She asked and I used my puppy eyes to persuade her. "Renata, I really don't want you to get in some shit."
"I won't, I swear." I crossed my fingers on my heart. "Just give me his number and I'll do the rest." I took her phone from her hands and unblocked it.
"I'm so scared, I have a bad feeling about all this." She muttered as I looked for his number through her contacts. "Like that time when you wanted to do a flip and then fell on the ground."
"That was ages ago." I rolled my eyes. "C'mon, my parents won't know about him, look." I shared the number on my chat and then saved it on my phone as "Curly hair". "See, they won't suspect anything."
She sighed. "Ok, do what you gotta do." I smiled happily. "Just, don't get yourself killed by your family or... Him." I widened my eyes in shock. "What?"
"I didn't think about it!" I yelled. "What if he doesn't want to have anything to do with me just because I'm an Osterfield?" She gave me a look and I snorted. "Ok, don't tell me that you knew it. I can lie to him until I'll feel safe to expose myself, right?" She shook her head. "Good to see we agree on something."
"Please dear Lord, help this poor little child of yours." She muttered and I chuckled. "So, what are you gonna do exactly?"
I lied down on the ground since we were at the park and shrugged my shoulders. "I think I'm going to text him and start a friendship somehow."
"If he answers you, I've heard that he doesn't usually answer to every girl that tries to get his attention."
"That sounds like an Holland thing." I joked and she glared at me. "Ok ok, damn girl." I opened his chat and bit my lip. "So, what should I text him?"
"I don't know." Thessa started to think as she sat next to me. "Something that will get his attention I think, a simple 'hey' isn't appropriate at this point."
"Right." I nodded. "I have an idea, I could use one of my pickup lines." I said excited.
"Girl, those suck." She shook her head. "You'll scare him."
"Shut the fuck up." I started typing. "If he doesn't like my pickup lines then he isn't worth my friendship."
To Curly Hair:
You must be lost, you're a long way far from Heaven.
I showed the text to Thessa and she simply started to pray for me. "Never mind, I don't need your approval." I clicked the "send" button and waited for an answer.
I waited for over 10 minutes before deciding that it wasn't worth it and he probably didn't even want to reply my message.
Damn Holland.
As we started to talk about the new selection to enter the national team, I started to think that maybe I was going too far with it. Looking at him was very disrespectful towards my family but having a crush on him? That was even worse, my parents would have sent me in another school in Europe at least.
"Will you audition to enter the team?" Thessa asked me and I sighed.
"Don't know." I shrugged. "Our team is fine I guess, even if we don't really participate at a lot of matches."
"That's because our football team sucks, think about going on nationals, I mean, you could perform in front of the whole country." She was super excited at the idea and thinking about it, it really sounded cool.
"Well, our coach decides who can enter the auditions so... Let's wait and see." I got up and yawned. "It's almost 7 p.m., my father is gonna be pissed if I go home too late." I rolled my eyes. "Gotta go."
"Sure." She hugged me. "Text me when you arrive home."
"You're not my mom." I pointed out as I started walking away.
"Then stop treating me like I am!" She yelled and I raised my middle finger before running away laughing.
My parents were divorced and I didn't see my mom that much, once in two weeks, sometimes once a month. Sometimes I FaceTimed her, but I wasn't angry at her. She was an important woman, the head of the Osterfield company, even she was divorced my dad allowed her to have his surname or something like that.
As I reached my house I noticed a message from Harrison, my older brother, who asked me to cover him since he was out with some random girl. I sighed, he was almost 20 and dad wanted him to start thinking about getting a wife, but all he could think about was fucking around and I could understand him, I mean, he was still young and stupid.
Too stupid to start a family anyway.
"Renata, is that you?" Dad asked as I entered the dining room.
"Yep." I muttered, his job wasn't as suffocating as my mother's one, he worked as a lawyer but didn't have so many cases in the last times. "What are you up to?" I watched him as he was reading a newspaper.
"Making sure to be informed if anything happens here." He smiled taking a cigarette from his pocket. "Have you seen your brother?" He then questioned worried.
"Yeah, he was with Jack and Nash." I shrugged. "They probably went out." He sighed and I could hear his thoughts: that boy, always thinking about going out and having fun instead of looking for a job. I smiled a little. "Don't worry, he knows what he's doing, give him time."
"Yeah yeah." He scoffed and I knew that was his way to tell me that he didn't want to have that conversation. "Dinner will be ready within an hour, have you done your homework yet?"
"Yep." That was a lie, but I really didn't to study that late. In the morning I would have finished them. "I'm going in my room." And without waiting an answer I ran in my bedroom.
I sat on my bed with my back against the wall and sighed. I was so bored about anything, I needed something new in my life so I could enjoy a little more my time.
Then, my phone vibrated and I took it immediately.
It was a message... from Tom Holland!
I smiled and opened it.
From Curly Hair:
Do you need something?
To Curly Hair:
Actually yes. Did it hurt?
From Curly Hair:
What?
To Curly Hair:
When you fell from the sky.
I waited patiently laughing at my own words. I was being ridiculous at that point but I didn't give a shit, if he wanted to block me it was fine. At least I did something different from the usual. Plus, I could continue to stare at him every time I went in front of his school.
From Curly Hair:
Of course, maybe you want to see my wings?
To Curly Hair:
Sure thing!
From Curly Hair:
Too bad I don't have them.
To Curly Hair:
Well you surely look like an angel even without them.
From Curly Hair:
Ahaha ok that was a nice one.
I'm Tom Holland by the way.
Whit whom do I have the honour to speak?
To Curly Hair:
I already knew it lol.
Nice to meet you, I'm Renata.
Renata Smith.
I didn't have time to think about a better surname, I wanted to use Thessa's one but then I realised that they went into the same school and that meant that it would be embarrassing and weird since we couldn't be sister, she was black and I was white.
His answer came soon.
From Curly Hair:
Well, it's nice to meet you fro sure.
Oh dear Holland, if you only knew.
