Chapter 2
Gold opened his eyes weakly as he groaned in pain. He felt a sharp pain shooting up his right arm and he screamed out. He looked at it and noticed it was broken and that there was glass shards on it as well. He looked around and noticed an unresponsive Red, Yellow, and his mother. "Red...? Yellow...? Mom...?" He turned up and saw a man on the windshield and he screamed in horror. Judging by his state, he can see that this man was dead.
He turned and looked at the others, who were still unresponsive. "Red...! Yellow...! Mom...!" Tears were starting to fall down his face as he was starting to fear the worst. Suddenly, he heard coughing.
Red.
"Red! Are you okay?!" He called out and Red groaned in response. "My left arm and shoulder really hurts..." Red called out before coughing again. "And it hurts when I cough..." Gold knew immediately that Red was in a horrible condition just like how he was. "Yellow...what about her?! Is she okay?!" He screamed out again when he felt a sharp pain in his chest as well.
Red turned to Yellow. "I don't know...she isn't responding. Yellow...Yellow!" He tried to call out but screamed out when he felt pain. Yellow groaned in pain as well as she woke up. "Ow...my head..." She groaned out before looking at Red and Gold. "Are you boys okay...?"
"We're far from okay..." Gold replied back as he turned to his mother. "Mom...Mom!" With his good arm (which was his left arm, even though it also had glass shards), he tried to nudge her awake but she gave no response. "Mom! Mom!" He called out.
Red and Yellow heard police sirens as well as ambulance sirens. "The police and the ambulance are here..." Yellow said before she blacked out. "Yellow, don't go to sleep!" Red called out as he tried to nudge her awake but she didn't respond. Red was starting to feel his conscious slip as well. He turned to look at Gold. "Gold...Gold..." He tried to say something to him but he went unconscious as well.
"Red...Yellow...no..." Gold said as his speech was starting to slur and fade out. "Don't...go to..."
He went silent as he heard muffled voices yelling out commands.
......................
More muffled noises. Beeping. Talking. Talking.
Gold weakly opened his eyes as he felt something rolling. He noticed that doctors were rolling him to a room on a gurney. "Get him to the emergency room along with the other three, immediately!" One doctor said. He noticed Red being rolled on a gurney as well. His eyes closed again as he groaned in pain. He was slipping into unconsciousness once again.
After a while, Gold woke up and noticed he was on a hospital bed with machines connected to him. He attempted to rub his head with his right arm, but a sharp pain prevented him from doing that as he yelped. "I see you're awake." A doctor said and Gold looked at him. He stared at him silently before speaking.
"Doctor...what...happened...?"
"You were involved in a serious collision incident along with four other individuals." The doctor explained. "Your injuries are severe along with your friends, but your mother was in a critical condition."
Was?
"We did our best to help you and your friends. Your friends Red and Yellow are currently in another rooms right now. Your friend Red suffered a dislocated left shoulder and broke some parts of his ribs. He also had some head injury, but it's not close to being severe or critical." Gold nodded in understanding.
"Your friend Yellow suffered the same injuries as him except instead of a dislocated left shoulder, she has a broken right leg. As for you, you have a broken right arm and that there was glass shards on it that we had to remove. You also broke some parts of your ribs as well."
"And my mother...?"
The doctor went silent when he heard that question. "She suffered massive injuries to her chest, back and her head. It's as if she tried to protect you and your friends from harm. And..." He took off his glasses before he spoke the following words.
"I'm sorry for your loss."
Gold's eyes widened.
No.
No.
No.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!
"Wait...are you saying that...?" Gold said and the doctor nodded. "No... you're lying... you're lying!" He yelped out upon feeling pain in his chest. "Hey, be careful!" The doctor warned sternly.
"No...my mom can't be dead...she can't be!"
Tears began rolling down his face. "She can't be dead...she just can't!" The doctor sighed somberly as he comforted the injured boy, who was now crying in his arms.
......................
A month has passed since that day. Gold was sitting quietly in the kitchen table. He, Red, and Yellow were still recovering from their injuries from the crash. They would visit each other to check on each other and see what they could do.
Gold wasn't in a good condition however.
Even though he was healing from his injuries, it wouldn't fix a broken heart he has. Silver leaving Johto was bad enough, but losing his mother was even worse. He sighed quietly before standing up to grab painkillers prescribed to him. He opened the bottle and took one capsule out of it and swallowed it before closing the bottle and placing it back down.
"I...I miss you, mom..."
He said back down on the kitchen chair as he stared at the ceiling. He wished that crash never happened. Apparently from what he learned, the other driver was under the influence of alcohol and that he was the man that was on the windshield. He heard a knock on his door. He stood up and went to open it. He opened the front door.
Green and Blue.
"Hey...you alright?" He asked and Gold shrugged with his left arm. He stepped aside to let them in. "We're sorry about what happened to your mom..." Blue said softly, her voice wavering with sadness. Gold sighed quietly and sat down on the kitchen chair once again. "It doesn't feel real, but I know it's real..." Gold replied back to Blue.
Both Blue and Green sat down in the kitchen table as well. "How's Red and Yellow?" He asked to the both of them. Blue and Green looked at each other. "They're okay, although they're still recovering." Green replied back to him. They knew that the crash left trauma within the three of them. "They're just...scared and worried." Blue added in and Green nodded in agreement. For the rest of the afternoon, they just talked about various topics in order to shift away from the topic of the crash.
It was night time. "We're heading home, Gold." Green said as he walked out. "Stay safe, okay?" Blue added in and Gold nodded before she closed the front door. Gold sighed and walked upstairs to his room to head to sleep.

Silver got back from his long disapperance. He heard about the car crash that happened a month ago, which explained why he came back to Johto. He took a taxi to New Bark Town and paid the driver before he drove away. He walked to Gold's house but noticed the lights were off.
He looked at the time. 10:28 PM.
Gold might be asleep right now. He sighed quietly as he shivered from the winter chill. All he wanted was some heat at least. He was about to knock on the door before he realized something.
What if Gold was still mad at him?
He sighed and knocked on the door. No response.
He did it again. No response.
He was about to knock for the third time but heard sounds that sounds like stairs being stepped on before it went silent again. The door was opened, which revealed Gold with tired eyes.
"Gold..."
