30- "Plot Twist, Hey?"
Anyone know anything about the PJO wattys?
I cried so much that I wondered if there were any more tears left to cry.
The girls didn't comment anything straight away but from their glances at each other and to me I caved when they started to do my hair.
"Percy and I had a fight," I whispered.
There was a moment of silence and then they suffocated me in a hug.
"Oh, Annie."
"I'll kill him."
"Everything will be okay, sweetie."
(Can you guess who said what? 😂)
"It was really bad," I sniffed looking at all of them sadly. "It was after the Report and him and Drew were kissing-"
I was interrupted by Hazels scream and Alicia's curse words.
"-and I saw and he ran after me. We said some things and-and he knows about my kiss with Luke-"
More screams and cuss words.
"-and now I have to go to a party with him."
They all crowded around me again squeezing me tightly.
"Is anyone else going to mention the fact she's kissed Luke?" Alicia whispered.
"I've kissed Luke," I confirmed.
They lead they me out to the bedroom, obviously wanting to be filled in.
"What? Where? When? Why?"
I shrugged. "He pushed me into a closet and kissed me. It was after a dance class, he said he had feelings for me. I pushed him off of me and yelled at him. He didn't care and walked away. It's okay now, we're friends. Percy found out-"
They groaned.
"-he was upset but he seemed okay when he left last night"
"Does anyone else know?" Hazel asked. "If someone like Hera finds out, you'd be killed."
Alicia gasped. "Percy's not going to kill you is he?"
Hazel rolled her eyes. "As if Percy would kill Annabeth. You wouldn't kill someone you love."
"Who's party today?" Justine asked.
"Our friend Jason's."
They gave me one last hug and got back to work.
They had to put extra makeup under my eyes to hide the fact that I cried all night, but my soft princess curls matched my pastel pink dress.
Before I walked into the dining room I breathed in, then out, squared my shoulders and with my head held high, I walked in smiling.
I sat down next to Piper and engaged in conversation. Soon enough the Royal family entered. Percy's hair was a little messier than its normal messy, the only evidence that he was distressed.
His gaze went to me straight away, making my smile falter. I cleared my throat and looked down at the table, playing with my napkin.
I didn't see Percy's deflated look or Drew's victory smirk.
Piper picked up on my mood change but didn't comment, which I was extremely grateful for. I didn't want to relive last night.
Throughout breakfast, Percy tried to catch my eye but I always looked away. I know I had no right to, and I wasn't angry at him. I was angry at myself. I was the one that lied to him, I was the one that got jealous and I was the hypocrite. I was in the wrong but I couldn't get what I had said and thought out of my head. I had actually thought about ripping off my bead necklace. That's like ripping off an arm, or a leg, or ripping out your heart. And I had thought about it, I had wanted to do that. All because he had kissed someone else. It showed just how deep my feelings were.
And it terrified me.
After breakfast I swiftly snuck out of the room before Percy could call out to me. I slipped into my room, appreciating that no one was in there.
I looked at myself in the mirror knowing that Percy will knock any second.
"Annabeth," I whispered to myself. "You love him*, and you would never, ever think of hurting him. And he would never, ever think of hurting you."
(*sorry my friends. Not romantic love)
A loud knock echoed through the room from my door and I fixed my perfect hair in the mirror.
You would never, ever hurt him, I repeated in my head, and he would never, ever hurt you.
I opened the door and smiled my most convincing smile. "Hey, Seaweed Brain."
He raised his eyebrows. "Hey, Wise Girl." His voice had a tone of questioning.
"What's happening today?" I asked.
"Uh-" He pointed to my room. "Can I come in?"
I froze for a second. "Um, yes. Yep, sure."
There was an awkward silence as he walked in and I closed the door behind him. He was looking at me, but I wouldn't meet his eyes.
"Are-" He started at the same time as I said: "What-"
He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck whilst I looked at my shoes blushing slightly.
"Are you okay?" He asked again.
I shrugged. "Are you?"
He sighed and stepped closer to me. "Of course I'm not, Annabeth. Last night was the biggest fight we've had since-since-" He tried to remember when we had our last big fight. "I don't even know when!" He put his hands on my shoulders. "I hated every single second of it and I couldn't sleep at all last night. You've been crying, I can sense it. I'm sorry I made you cry. I'm sorry I made you hurt." He held my chin in one hand and forced me to look up at him. "I'm sorry."
I pecked him quickly on on the lips, then I pressed my head against his chest, hearing his steady heartbeat. "I'm so sorry Percy. I shouldn't have said what I said and I know that you can do what you want. I'm just the possessive, jealous girlfriend."
He kissed me on top of the head. "And I'm the possessive, jealous boyfriend. We're perfect for each other!" He laughed.
My heart fluttered and I pressed myself closer to him.
After a few minutes of peaceful and comfortable silence, I pulled back from him. "So Jason. What's happening?"
He smiled at me. "I've organised for the gang to watch a movie, his choice. The present is a voucher for a class at the Angeles Pilot Academy and I have another surprise for him which I'm not going to tell you about."
I smiled. "He's going to love that present. He can finally be a pilot."
He started to laugh. "And he can finally be the blond superman he was always meant to be!"
When we got to the cinema, Leo was already sitting there with a bowl of popcorn, his feet propped up. "Geez, you two took forever. How long does it take to have breakfast?"
"Good morning, Leo." I looked around the room. At the back where the small kitchen was, Jason's favourite foods had been set up. Blue and red streamers hung from the ceiling against the walls and balloons were in the corner.
"Good job, Perce."
Leo stood up dramatically. "Actually I decorated the room! All Aqua Man did was organise food and presents."
I patted Leo on the shoulder. "Well, good job, Leo."
He bowed. "Thank you, my lady."
"Connor, you were meant to glue it together not sticky tape it!"
"It's not my fault that your prank planning is terrible Travis!"
The famous mischievous Stoll brother walked through the door. Travis pushed Connor down the stairs.
"Well, maybe if you actually listened to the plan it would have worked out."
"Well maybe-" Connor started but was interrupted by Percy.
"What did you do?" He asked easing his eyebrows. "Do I need to close up your shop?"
"Nah," Travis smiled his crooked smile. "We're all good. The victim doesn't know they've been pranked yet."
We all eyed them wearily. Grover soon joined us and we waited for Jason to show up.
Finally he did. His hair was unusually messy and the top button of his shirt was unbuttoned.
We all got up and started to hug and greet him a happy birthday.
"Happy Birthday, Sparky!" I hugged him and stepped back. I used my hands to try and fix his hair. "What happened to your hair?" I asked as I put the last piece into place.
"Uh," He smiled nervously at me. "I just woke up."
I raised my eyebrow questioningly but didn't continue the conversation.
"Happy Birthday, bro." Percy patted Jason on the shoulder handing him an envelope.
"Present already, Perce?" He asked.
We all nodded smiling in anticipation.
He chuckled and opened the envelope, unfolding the piece of paper. His eyes scanned the paper, his jaw dropped. When he finished he looked up at us disbelieving. And then he screamed.
The scream turned into laugh as he started to jump up and down. He brought us into a group hug, my fifth for the day.
"Thank you so much guys! I can't believe it, I could actually be a pilot!" His electric blue eyes gleamed with happiness.
"And you get to chose the movie-" Grover started but Jason interrupted.
"Planes!" He rushed down the steps and sat in a chair like a child. "Planes: Fire & Rescue."
We all groaned and went to sit down, Percy starting the movie.
"Why does he always pick Planes?" Percy muttered as he sat down in the seat next to me.
I shrugged. "Why do you always choose Finding Nemo?"
He didn't answer but handed me a bucket of popcorn, turning his attention to the movie. I smirked and ate my popcorn.
When the credits started to roll the lights were turned on and a maid brought in the cake.
It was iced in a dark black, a large lightning strike flashing down the middle.
Jason laughed when he saw it and we started to sing happy birthday.
"So what are your plans for tonight?" I asked Jason, eating my piece of cake.
"Just going to have dinner with my parents. Why?"
"No reason."
Travis and Connor came over and said they had to go home. We hugged and they left, not without a take-home bag of food, of course. Grover left soon after claiming he needed to tend to the new daisy flowers. Leo left too because he was working the night shift and he had to get ready.
I watched as Percy talked to a maid that was walking down the hall. He asked something, she nodded and then scurried off.
"Alright, Sparky, I have a surprise for you."
He raised his eyebrows. "Did you buy me a plane?"
Percy chuckled and shook his head. "No, I found something better."
He grabbed my hand pulling me out of the cinema, Jason following behind us.
We stopped outside the room and waited.
"What is it?" Jason asked desperately. "Bro we're just standing here."
A few moments later we heard the steps of someone walking around the corner. Thalia came into view as she rounded the corner.
"Percy?" She asked hesitantly. "Annie?" She asked spotting me. "Random stranger?" She asked spotting Jason.
"Can you all follow me?" Percy asked and he started to walk down the corridor.
"All your questions will be answered you, impatient people." He rolled his eyes as we all started to raise questions.
Percy had led us into a small room, hidden behind a tapestry hanging on the wall. Once in the room, he turned on the light and gestured for us to sit down on some chairs.
In the middle of the small room was a circular table for four, with the four chairs around it. On the table sat a pen and a stack of documents. The walls were made out of cobblestone and the floor had a fading rug sitting on top of it.
Percy sat down and I sat next to him. Jason on the other side of him and Thalia on the other side of me.
"What are we doing here?" Thalia voiced Jason and I thoughts.
"This is for our ears only," Percy started looking at us all sternly. "Annabeth shouldn't really be here, but she should know and I trust her. Jason and Thalia, you both need to hear me out before you make conclusions. I have a plan to make you both happy, me happy and the public happy."
Confusion was written on all three of our faces. Thalia and Jason shared a quick glance as an introduction.
"What I have here is a stack of documents. These are the results of your test Thalia," He passed some papers over to Thalia.
"And these Jason, are the test you first did when you got drafted." He handed Jason's over to him.
"This was done years ago Percy. What's this got to do with Thalia?"
"Thalia, once you told me you had a little brother. You said you don't remember much about him, just that you had one. Correct?"
Thalia nodded.
"When Dr Solace came back to me with your results, he told me he needed access to some other results. Which were your's, Jason."
"You don't think-" I started seeing where he was going.
Percy turned around and looked at me. "I don't think, I know. I have the proof right here." He pointed at the documents.
"What does this mean?" Jason asked.
"Jason?" It was hardly even a whisper, I bearly even heard it escape from her lips.
"Jason Grace?" She asked again a bit louder.
"That's me. Now someone tell me what the Hades is happening." He looked around questioningly.
"Jason Grace! Holy Zeus' lightning bolt, Jason!" Thalia jumped up and ran over to Jason, flinging her arms around him in a bone-crushing hug.
"Lady Thalia? What are you doing?" He held his hands out awkwardly.
Thalia pulled back to face him. She had tears streaming down her face, something I thought I would never witness.
"You've grown so much. All I can remember of you was your blonde hair and the little scar on your lip. When you got adopted I thought I never see you again. Jason, you're my long lost brother."
Percy and I smiled happily. Jason froze in shock.
"Brother?" He asked.
"I'm Thalia Grace. I don't know who our father is but mothers name was Beryl Grace."
"I don't remember you." He told her.
"You were only two when we were separated. You were adopted. Mum gave birth to you and died soon after from an alcohol overdose. Dad died years before. I ran away from the orphanage after you were adopted by a middle age couple. The Selection was coming up. I signed up hoping Percy would be kind enough to help me. I would never have imagined he would reunite me with my brother."
Jason seems to realise this was actually happening and hugged her back.
"You're my sister? I have a sister?" He asked crazily.
Thalia nodded and laughed.
I turned to look at Percy feeling all warm inside having just witness a family being put back together. I noticed the same they have the same coloured eyes, I couldn't believe that I hadn't put it together beforehand.
"You just reunited family. Well done, Seaweed Brain."
He smiled down at me. "Just wait."
After a few minutes of Jason and Thalia hugging each other and catching up a bit more Percy cleared his throat, to which they stopped talking at.
"Now, Thalia and I have both admitted we don't feel anything towards each other." Thalia nodded her confirmation. "I could send her home but I won't do that. Seeing my bro so happy with his sister, I'll keep her for you, Sparky."
Thalia smiled and Jason's draw dropped.
"What?"
"I won't eliminate her. I want you guys to be with each other again. I'll have to send her home when we get to the top ten-ish but after this is over, she can come live with you."
Jason stood up and came and hugged Percy.
"Thank you so much, Percy. I can't believe this is happening. I have a sister."
Percy sighed. "Yeah well, that's not all you have. Take a seat, you might need it."
Jason and Thalia sat down, this time closer and holding each other's hands. "What do you mean?" Thalia asked.
Percy reached our under the table and took my hand. I squeezed it, hopefully reassuring him in some way or another.
"Dr Solace and I looked over your results. We found your father."
Both Thalia and Jason froze in shock. I turned my head to look at Percy. My heart was beating extremely fast.
"What's his name?" Jason asked. "Where is he? Can we see him?"
Percy shook his head. "I'm afraid he died after you were born Jason. Thalia guessed right. But, you have other relatives."
"Who?" Thalia asked.
Percy took a deep breath. "Me."
I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion. "You?"
Percy nodded. "Yep, me. Your father is my uncle. Prince Zeus"
There was shock silence for a couple of moments until Thalia stood up and pushed her chair back. "Wait, hold up. You're my cousin?" Percy nodded. "And my uncle is Poseidon, your dad?" He nodded again. "So that makes me a-"
"Princess." Percy finished.
Thalia slammed her fist on the table. "Dam it. I came here to not be a princess and now I am. Great."
I noticed Jason was being extremely quiet. "Jason?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I'm sorry, this is a lot to process."
"So," Percy said. "Zoe and Tyson are your cousins too. As is Nico in Italy. Sally and Paul are your aunt and uncle, and Maria and Hades too."
"Does-" Jason started. "Does your mum know about this?"
Percy nodded. "Yes, I told her last night. She agrees with me to wait until the Selection is over before we announce that there are two long-lost relatives to the royal family."
"What about Nico and Hades?" I asked.
"They'll be notified tomorrow."
I rested my head on the table. "Plot twist, hey?"
Percy nodded and squeezed my hand. "A good one though."
Jason shook his head. "So I have a sister, four cousins, two aunts and uncles now? And I'm freaking royalty?"
Percy and I nodded.
"Holy Zeus," He muttered standing up. "I-I-What?"
"I think I'll leave you alone, cuz, time to process." Percy stood up pulling me with him. "You know where I am. You might want to tell your parents Jason."
His eyes widened. "Oh gods," He groaned.
I was smiling crazy as Percy and I walked away. "So your bro is no longer your bro. How do you feel?"
He shook his head. "This is crazy. I found out the other day and I was so dumbfounded. Who knew that Uncle Zeus had two children? And one I've been living with since we were little."
"Definitely crazy." I nodded.
He looked up at the ceiling smiling. "It's going to be so hectic after the Selection. We're going to have to announce them, Thalia will have to move in."
I smiled at him as we came to my door. "It's going to be awesome though."
He nodded kissing me on the forehead. "See you later, Wise Girl."
"Bye, Seaweed Brain."
