A Meeting With Kosora Nekozawa

I slowly dress myself in a black shirt and matching jeans. A black blazer is draped onto my shoulders and buttoned, I slip some 5 inch heels on my feet and brush my glossy, long, white hair. I leave my hair loose and grab my black bag, which is filled with all my books and belongings. My mp3 player and a few chocolate bars were in there. That was supposed to be lunch, so I made sure they didn't fall out of my bag.
I sighed and started to sing, while I walked out of my room and into the kitchen.
"You were looking at me like you wanted to stay
When I saw you yesterday
I'm not wasting your time, I'm not playing no games
I see you"
I spread some jam onto a piece of bread and put it into my mouth while I fiddled with the door, finally opened it, and walked outside, managing to sing through bites of bread.
"Who knows the secret tomorrow will hold?
We don't really need to know
'Cause you're here with me now, I don't want you to go
You're here with me now, I don't want you to go"
A few people on the street stared at me, while I sang, but I ignored them.
"Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human
Maybe we don't need no reason
Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human"
My new school was on the corner, I had finished the slice of bread and I started to sing as low as a whisper.
"Maybe we don't need no reason why
Come on, come on, come over
Maybe we don't need no reason why
Come on, come on, come over
No one but you got me feeling this way
There's so much we can't explain
Maybe we're helping each other escape
I'm with you
Who knows the secret tomorrow will hold?
We don't really need to know
'Cause you're here with me now, I don't want you to go
You're here with me now, I don't want you to go"
I noticed a girl with dark blue hair and green eyes staring at me with empty eyes. She looks like she's listening to me sing, but how is she hearing me? I'm singing really quietly.
"Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human
Maybe we don't need no reason
Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human
Maybe we don't need no reason why
Come on, come on, come over
Maybe we don't need no reason why
Come on, come on, come over
Come on, come on, come over
Maybe we don't need no reason why
Come on, come on, come over"
I finished the song and looked at the girl that was still staring at me, only this time she had a small smile on her face. She motioned for me to come closer, so I did.
"You have a nice voice. I'm Kosora Nekozawa." She introduced.
"Tekina Redi, how did you hear my voice?"
Her smiled dropped."A few years ago, my parents put a drug in my drink and I passed out. They took me to one of the best scientists in the country and he implanted something into my ears. Now, I can hear 5 times better than I used to."
"Do you like it? Having a power like that?" I asked.
She turned to look at the crowd of students arriving to class. With a faraway look in her eye, she answered me."No. . . . . Tell me, Tekina. What happened to you?"
I stepped back, startled by her question."W-What do you mean?"
She turned to face me and placed her face inches away from mine. Her glistening green eyes stared into my dull grey ones."I can hear it. In your voice, pain and horror."
I took another step backwards, this time on purpose."I don't know what you're talking about."
She grabbed my left arm and held it tightly."Tell me what happened after school. I'll be waiting on the roof, near the pool."
She let go of my hand and started to walk away."What if I don't show up?" I called after her.
Her voice was strong and clear."I know you will. Goodbye, Tekina."
I watched her walk away and started on my path to 1-A, my new class, thinking about my new friend. I stopped, while I was walking. Wait, there's a pool on the roof?
