A changed life, a fateful love

Asriel watched as they lowered Brittney's body into the ground, crying right beside her mom. Her dad looked like his world had died as the only thing he could do was watch his little girl was laid to rest. "If I die young" was playing before Asriel got up and ran away, unable to watch anymore, to see his love buried six feet under. He sobbed as he collapsed on a bare patch of grass, wailing to the heavens for Brittney to come back. "BRITTNEY!!!" Asriel screeched, his heartbreaking as he knew he would never see her again, his tears falling like rain. Asriel soon passed out from his crying, falling asleep in the fetus position.

"Asriel!" a voice called, the sweet sound making the Lucario smile as he turned to see Brittney running to him, a smile on her face as she threw herself into his arms. "Brittney..." Asriel breathed, falling to the ground with her, laughing happily as he hugged her tight.

And just like that, it was as if his world had been rebuilt in the short period of time. "How is this possible? How are you here?"Asriel asked, delighted to see his love once more. "As it would seem, we're... connected, in a way. Our souls are bound through the love we share, and because you feel so strongly for me, I don't have to move on. And trust me, I would love to stay with you." Brittney replied. Although she seemed to regain her physical properties, she was still the white figure he had seen before, wings and all.

"Will you... ever be yourself again?" Asriel was curious to know. "If my body is in good enough condition, I may be able to return," Brittney told him happily. "Just like old times."
Asriel was crying again, too emotional about seeing his love again to hold it back. Brittney held him close as he did, smiling warmly. "I know how you feel, Asriel. I missed you too."

After regaining his composure, he noticed someone else there with them.  "Arceus? Is that you?" he asked, looking up at the God of all Pokemon."Indeed it is, Asriel. It was a very brave thing that this fox did, wouldn't you agree?" Arceus asked, his voice gentle; Asriel nodded. "She saved my life and sacrificed her own. I miss her with all of my heart," he replied. "Well, I am happy to inform you that it was not yet her time, and there's still a chance to return her to your world,"Asriel was too excited to think."Can- can I do that?" Asriel asked, his excitement radiating like his aura."If your spiritual connection is strong enough, you can channel her life energy through you," Arceus told him. "Which means I was never truly dead, but part of you the whole time!"Brittney chimed in with a happy smile. "Focus on that, and you will be able to bring her back, and return her to her physical form," Arceus said, explaining how it could be done.

Asriel looked up at the God, nodding. "I understand Arceus." he acknowledged. "And, before you return..." Arceus started, confusing Asriel slightly. "The secret to breaking Orron's seal is not through violence, but peace. A light warrior's greatest weapon is his compassion for his allies, and you and Orron have a rare friendship that has lasted for years. Do not seek to free him through violence, but reach out to him with your heart. You'll find him, and he'll be able to break free of the curse plaguing him today," Asriel took every word he said on board, wanting nothing more than to free his best friend; he bowed before Arceus.

"Thank you, my lord. I will remember everything you have told me when I meet him again."  Arceus looked at Brittney. "And remember what you've learned in your short time here, as well," Brittney nodded. "How could I forget?" before Asriel could ask what she meant, he began to fall, slowly at first. "Goodbye, Asriel. And remember, channel my energy through your body into mine, and I'll be back!" Brittney called to him."The shadow warriors are tough, but you are too! Save the world while you can, and defend it with your lives! As the leader of the light warriors, I leave that responsibility to you!" Arceus told him before Asriel fell at full speed toward the ground. He could see the entire country from up here, before only being able to see the city seconds later. Then the town, and the street, until he was just meters from the ground. He braced for impact, and just before he hit the ground, his eyes snapped open and he sat bolt upright, breathing heavily and sweating profusely.

"Brittney..." he said as he tried to stop his head from spinning. It was then that it all came back to him, hitting him like a wave. "Brittney!"  he shouted again, darting for her home under the night sky.
