Chapter-6

"Do you think I don't know what you and your father got in return—"

Her words kept ringing in my ears. The fact that I was kept in the dark about all of this raised red flags in my head. I didn't want to consider that possibility but it wasn't impossible. In fact, there was a high chance that Dad might've had something to do with all this. And if that was true, then what now?

My train of thoughts was interrupted when she emerged from the bathroom in pyjamas. Yet, the anger from before was still evidently visible on her face.

As soon as her gaze landed on me comfortably sprawled on my side of the bed, her jaw dropped and she sucked in a sharp breath. Casting aside her bridal dress to a side, she stomped towards me. Once again, screaming.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Her screech came before she had even reached to my side. I looked away with a sigh and a roll of eyes.

"What now?" I returned unfazed, before covering my eyes with the back of my arm.

"You—you can't sleep here—" Her anxious cry clashed with my eardrums and I pulled away my arm with a sigh and glanced to her exhausted.

"And where else should I be sleeping, if not on my bed—" I held her troubled gaze for a moment before shutting my eyes with a sigh.

"—then—then—where would I sleep?" The fact that her voice was trembling with anything but anger for a change, gave me a weird sense of satisfaction. Immediately sitting up straight, I looked at her with a small hidden smirk.

"Why, wifey—of course, on the bed with me." I gave her a nice smile and patted the mattress beside me. The way her eyes widened in shock made me wonder if they could actually pop out of their sockets. She gawked me speechless, opening and closing her mouth but unable to get a word out.

Finding immense pleasure in her misery, I shot her a small flirtatious smile before slowly taking her hand in mine. Her eyes immediately darted to my hand clutching hers but before she could react, I continued my theatrics.

"The bed is big enough for the two of us—" I began while slightly tugging her towards me, so that she was leaning towards me; with our faces only separated by a few inches.

"—you don't have to worry about anything. I'll be careful—" My voice had lowered to a whisper, as I gazed into her beautiful big brown eyes; that wandered across my face like a scared kitten. Even without realising it, my one hand had moved to tug back the hair streaming down the side of her face. I noticed how she flinched when my fingers slightly brushed against her heated cheeks and how her lips parted in apprehension.

Before I got further pulled into those bewitching eyes, she pulled away from me with a gasp. Clutching her wrist to her chest, that was a few moments ago in my captivity; she glared at me with quivering lips whilst fuming in anger.

With a smirk, I leaned against the bed rest and eyed her smugly with my arms crossed across my chest.

"Don't push your luck. If you for even one single moment had some doubts about this relationship, then I would gladly put everything straight for you, right now." She glowered while eyeing me with hatred boiling in those brown orbs.

"Of course. Please. Enlighten me, your highness. How can I be of service to you?" I beckoned her to continue with a shrug; which only aggravated her more.

"You are enjoying this, aren't you? This is all a game for you, isn't it?" Her voice had dropped dangerously low and despite trying, I couldn't hold up the facade.

"All this—I don't know how you did it—but I'll find it out—and I swear, I will pay you back every dime of humiliation—! That too with interest. Mark my words, Hadeed." Her small figure trembled with rage in front of me and if she didn't believe that I was the cause behind it, I would have liked to hold her in my arms and eased her troubles. However, I wasn't ready to take blame for something about which I was as clueless as her.

"And, if you're wrong? What then? Can I look forward to an apology?" I remarked with a smirk and saw her mouth forming into a thin line, while she inched towards me. Before I could realize what she was doing—the pillow behind me was pulled away in one swift move and following it's lead was the duvet cover.

"Over my dead freaking body!" She screamed with her back turned to me. A pillow clutched under her one arm while the duvet dragged behind her as she made way towards the couch on the other end of the room.

Despite the severity of the situation, I couldn't help but chuckle at her antics.

I stayed awake until I was sure that she was fast asleep and then praying to Allah that she doesn't wake up, I tiptoed towards her makeshift bed.

Watching her sleeping figure made me think that she really was a Hoor, like her name. Her hair fell across the side of her face and her one hand softly clutched at the duvet. My hand itched to caress her but instead of doing that, I carefully pulled away the duvet from her and picked her up in my arms. She moaned in sleep but instead of stirring she only leaned closer against my chest.

I couldn't help but smile at her innocence and after tucking her in the bed, I went to take my place on the couch. The only reason, I did this was because it hurt my pride as a man. Or so, I kept telling myself until sleep finally overtook me.

"Hadeed—!" I heard her scream after I came out of the shower with a towel draped around my waist. I had honestly forgot about this tiny detail. Like always, I was used to changing in my room and had completely forgotten about her. When I did realise it, I hoped that she would still be sleeping. But Alas, I came out to find her sitting up on the bed with her face turned to the other side.

"You really have zero regards for personal space, don't you—! Can't you change inside? Like a normal decent human being—! Do you get a rise by getting on other people's nerves—!" I heard her stammer but instead of retorting with a comeback, I walked towards the wardrobe and got out a change of clothes.

"Well, sorry. I didn't do it on purpose." I remarked annoyed before getting back into the bathroom. When I returned she was already out of bed. Her hair was pulled up into a bun on top of her head while she continued to make the bed.

"The maid will do it—You don't have to do it." I remarked while going towards the dressing table. And just then, I realised that I'll have to change my helping staff to a lady too. Right now we were at my parents house but afterwards when we return to my government allocated house, I'll have to let Jamil go.

"Yeah. But Papa says that you should do your stuff yourself—That aside—how did I end up on the bed?" Her eyes met mine in the mirror and I shirked away.

"You came yourself, don't you remember? Because of you I had to shift to the couch. I am never sleeping in the same room with you again." I lied easily with a sigh and caught the look of guilt mixed with embarrassment on her face. For a moment she didn't say anything but obviously, how could Hoorain quietly listen to something without shooting a comeback.

"Well, serves you right!" She declared with a huff and went into the washroom, closing the door after her with a bang only to come out a moment later to pick up her clothes. Without meeting my accusing gaze, she went in quietly this time and I could do nothing to hold in my laughter.

————————————

I came back into the room with a knock while still on the phone; letting Salman know that we would be down shortly.

"Hoor—Are you ready—" All the breath was knocked out of my lungs when I spotted her. She looked up, startled by my voice but I was sure that I was more stunned. Of course she looked breathtaking during the wedding in her red dress. But the pink made her look all the more alluring.

"Hadeed?"

The muscles in my neck tightened on thoughts of other guys seeing her like this too, but I quickly shook away the annoying thoughts. I walked towards her while she had resumed to putting on her shoes.

"We have to leave." I informed, at which her already exhausted face managed to become even more somehow. She looked so fragile. As if, any moment now, she would break into tears.

In a flash, I was bent down with my hands clutching at her shoes. It only took her a mere second, to snatch away her feet from my grasp. Exhaling a long sigh, I waited a moment before stalking my face up to meet her gaze. She looked positively appalled with a thorough sprinkle of hostility and ill temper.

'Great. Now she is gonna cry and I will be hated for ruining her makeup.'

"I—I can—do it—myself—!" It seemed like she claimed to challenge me. So, I watched her face silently for some time as she struggled painstakingly for a while to tie the clasps on her shoes. Just when I felt that she would hurl the shoe outside the window, breaking it in process, I once again clutched at her shoe.

Obviously, I didn't earn her gratitude and had to make do with her killing glare.

'If looks could kill, I would be more than dead right now.'

"Had—!" She began to yell while pushing at my shoulder with her hand, raising her little chin defiantly, but I cut her off.

"It doesn't matter." I said in a small voice without meeting her eyes. For a moment, her grip on me slacked.

"It doesn't matter, Hoor." I repeated and finally looked up to see the unshed tears brimming in her eyes finally spill down her cheeks.

Unable to see the look of hurt etched in her eyes for another moment, I blinked away and went back to the task of tying her sandal straps. After getting done with it, I carefully removed my hands off of her feet and didn't have to wait for a second even as she got off her feet from the footstool and turned away from me.

As I straightened up, I waited for her to get up too. For a while, she fumbled through her stuff searching for something.

I patiently waited in my place for her to get done when my gaze fell on her phone placed on the bedside table on charging. Taking both of them in my hold, I walked towards her.

"Looking for this?" Just as the words left my mouth, she whipped her head to meet my gaze and just as recognition lit across her face, she jerked towards it only to slip towards me instead.

Quickly lunging towards her, I barely caught her from falling while she toppled towards me.

For a moment, she gaped at me horrified while I clutched her waist protectively. The only thing I caught in those eyes in that fleeting moment was hatred and distrust. But before the moment could pass or I could pull her up straight, she pushed away from me and snatching her things from my hand, she left the room.
