Then there were eight - Part 1 - Magnificent Seven - Sam x Vasquez x Reader
I watched the 2016 version of the Magnificent Seven again today and had an idea. This is what I imagine would happen if Sam had not just brought back Vasquez. But also, someone else. A woman? A woman simply known as 'Lady'. A lady that has her own dark past. Hope you enjoy.
"We have to make one more stop before we go and meet the others. We need someone else." Sam told the Mexican outlaw, as he and Vasquez rode back along the trail
"Who?" Vasquez asked abruptly. The gunman feeling as though the day had already been interesting enough.
"Someone very special. You'll see when we get there." Sam replied cryptically, as he geed up his horse and pulled ahead of the outlaw.
After a few hours of riding in more or less complete silence. A small farmstead came into view, as they got to the top of a ridge. Smoke pouring from the chimney. A few head of cattle and horses, penned up in simple corrals around the stone and wood house. The whole scene appearing quite idyllic.
"What are we doing here?" Vasquez asked. Not sure that this was the right place to find someone that they could find of use.
"This is where we find the person we need." Sam replied, as the warrant officer leaned on the horn of his saddle, and patted his horses neck.
"We need a homesteader?" Vasquez continued indignantly. The Mexican wishing that they could just get this over with and get to where they were supposed to be going.
"Oh, this person isn't a homesteader. Don't let this place fool you. My old friend basically uses places like this as a cover. It's the last place anyone would think to look for them." Sam replied. His once again cryptic reply, making Vaquez roll his eyes and shake his head. The bandito following behind Sam, as the two men rode on until they reached the front of the small home. The duo dropping down from their mounts, and tying up their horses, before they made their way up a small set of wooden steps to the front door. Vasquez instinctively reaching for his gun, only to be stopped by Sam.
"That wouldn't be a very good idea. Just make sure you keep your hands in sight. My friend has a few.........shall we say, trust issues as far as men with guns are concerned." Sam explained, before he knocked on the door and waited for an answer. The duly sworn warrant officer knocking again, slightly harder, as no answer came. Sam placing his ear up against the door to try and hear something from inside.
"Looks like no one's home, mi amigo." Vasquez sniffed, as he looked around the eerily quiet farm. The silence of the setting only split by the sounds of the animals in the corrals nearby.
"Oh, they are here. My friend will have seen us coming a long time ago. They're round here somewhere." Sam replied, as he looked up and pointed at the smoke coming out of the chimney. The man dressed all in black, pushing on the wooden door, that creaked as it opened slowly to reveal a warm, well-furnished abode. Cautiously stepping into the room, the two men were met by the aroma of freshly brewing coffee and what smelled like a cooking fruit pie.
Suddenly, both men stopped in their tracks, at the familiar sound of a Winchester repeater rifle being cocked.
"Ok boys, drop the hardware. Hands up in the air and turn around real slow, cos I've got an itchy trigger finger and it needs scratching." A soft female voice with a beautiful southern accent called out from behind them.
"Is that the way you greet all your old friends, Lady?" Sam asked, slowly putting his hands in the air and turning around.
"Well I'll be a son of a .......... Sam Chisholm, what the heck are you doing here?" The Lady enquired, as she dropped the gun to her side, and pulled her old friend into a deep hug.
"How longs it been Sam? Two years?"
"More like three. I've been neglecting you, I'm afraid Lady." Sam replied. Leaning back from her embrace, and gently cupping her cheeks in his hands.
"Whatever it's been, it's been too damn long, Sam. You should never leave a lady alone for that long. Hasn't anyone ever told you that?" The Lady chuckling quietly in response.
"You really should be more careful when you're trying to sneak up on me though Sam. I saw you and your friend here coming just as you got on the ridge. You're lucky I didn't shoot you. And who's this handsome devil, anyway?" The woman asked, as she looked Vasquez up and down.
"My apologises. Lady, I would like you to meet Vasquez. Vasquez meet Lady." Sam introduced. Vasquez turning around slowly to see the woman he was being introduced to.
To say he was surprised would be an understatement. She was younger than he expected. Stood just a little shorter than Sam. And was more than ample in all the right places. Vasquez licking his lips, as he took in the beautiful sight before him. Her hair was long and braided neatly, falling softly over her left shoulder. And it was obvious that whoever this "Lady" was, she took very good care of herself. She dressed very much like Chisholm, the black clothing making her look quite elegant. Vasquez hoping that if this latest endeavour didn't get him shot, then he might like to get to know her better. Much better.
"Sam, you better have a damn good reason for bringing an outlaw to my door. Especially an outlaw that has a very hefty bounty on his head as well, may I say." Lady said. Vasquez suddenly reaching for his gun, only to find that before his fingers could even brush the hilt, the barrel of a colt peacemaker was pointed right between his eyes.
"I wouldn't even think about it if I were you, amigo. I merely mentioned your bounty, I have no intention of cashing it in. Anyway, any friend of Sam's is a friend of mine." Lady explained, as she released the hammer and placed the gun back in its holster. Vasquez raising his hands in surrender. The shocked look on his face, causing the woman to giggle lightly.
"I don't mean to be rude Sam, but what are you doing here? Especially with a Mexican outlaw in tow." The lady asked her old friend. Sam looking at the floor, before reluctantly raising his head, so that his eyes met hers.
"I have a business proposition for you Lady. It concerns Bart Bogue." Sam said almost whispering the name. The Lady suddenly losing all composure and falling back into the nearest chair. Sam crouching next to her, as he took her hand in his.
"I'm sorry Lady, but we need your help. Innocent people need your help. You know I wouldn't ask otherwise. He's hurting good people again. And I think this is a chance for both of us to get back some peace of mind. I don't know about you, but I've had enough of the nightmares." Sam told her, as she squeezed his hand tightly.
"Promise me one thing Sam. If I agree to whatever you are going to say. Swear that if you don't kill him, you'll let me do it." The Lady answered, as she looked into his eyes. Sam brushing away a tear that slowly rolled down her cheek, with his thumb.
"I promise." Sam swore quietly. Kissing her softly on the cheek.
"Are you two hungry?" The Lady enquired, as she took a deep breath and composed herself. A small smile coming back to her lips, as Vasquez nodded frantically. More than happy with the idea of having something good to eat.
"That would be great Lady, thanks." Sam agreed. He too liking the idea of getting a taste of whatever was sending that glorious aroma around the small wooden home.
"Good. Take a seat. I'll introduce you to some new friends. And then you and el diablo hermoso here, can tell me what the hell you're dragging me into." (Y/n) chuckled, as Sam helped her up from the chair. And he and Vasquez took a seat at the table.
