The lost celestial - Part 3 - Remy Lebeau/Gambit x Reader
A third part of this imagine for sr_quinn_hexa. Hope you enjoy.
"Cher?" Remy asked sleepily as he looked over at (Y/n). Her form silhouetted against the moonlight that shone brightly through the large window. His girl not seeming to hear a word he said, as she looked up into the stars.
"I'm scared, Remy. I haven't been this scared since my mom died and Peter was taken. Part of me wants to run away, to never look back. The other part wants to see him more than I have ever wanted to see anything before. I just don't want to disappoint him." (Y/n) sniffed, wiping away the tears that were rolling down her cheeks. Remy getting up from the bed and making his way over to where (Y/n) stood, the mutant wrapping his arms tightly around her. His forehead resting softly on hers.
"Cheri, your brother is gonna love you. I promise. How could he not? And even if he doesn't, I still love you." Remy assured. (Y/n) chuckling softly as she nuzzled into his bare chest.
"What would I do without you, Remy? What with all the changes in my powers and everything. Finding out what I really am. That my brother is coming back to see me. If you hadn't been here, I think that I would have gone crazy. I know Charles said everything will be alright. That the Avengers have the facilities and expertise to deal with what I am. That I shouldn't worry. But...... I can't help it. Up until a short while ago, life seemed so simple. I had come to terms with the fact that I had lost both my brother and mother. That I was somehow born a mutant. Yet now, now I know I'm not the only Quill. That I'm not a mutant. And for some reason, its scary. And I know I shouldn't be, but I'm angry that I couldn't be there when Peter killed the creature that put that tumour in my mother's head. Sometimes I don't know why you don't just pack up your things and run in the opposite direction. I........."
"I would never do that, cher." Remy assured as he pulled (Y/n) even closer. His soft Cajun accent always sounding like a sweet lullaby when he hummed so quietly.
"And the professor is right. Everything will be fine. It is only to be expected that you would feel like this. But even if your brother doesn't like you, I will never leave you." Remy added, kissing her softly on top of the head.
As much as he hated to admit it, he was already jealous, and this brother of (Y/n)'s hadn't even shown his face yet. As much as he wanted to be the only man in (Y/n)'s life, Remy had always had to watch as (Y/n) sat with Charles. He knew that the professor had come to be like another father to her, when her adopted dad had died. (Y/n) always turning to the older man when she needed advice. The female mutant, well, celestial now, saying that the professor's soft, calm tone, always had a way of making things seem less scary. That there was nothing that couldn't be fixed. And their relationship had always made the Cajun jealous. He knew it was ridiculous, but that was how it was. And now, with her brother suddenly going to be turning up from outer space at any moment, there would be a new man to vie for (Y/n)'s attentions. And he couldn't pretend that he liked it. And he liked even less the thoughts that were rattling around his mind that this so called brother, would want to take her back with him into space. That he could lose the only good, and worth while thing in his life. For Remy knew, that most of his life he had had to steal everything that he wanted or needed. Yet the only thing that he had ever stolen that was really worth anything to him, was (Y/n)'s heart. A heart that he wasn't going to lose to anyone, not even her brother. So, whatever happened when this so called, Star Lord, appeared in his big fancy spaceship, with his trash panda, and tree. Bragging about his amazing life in the stars. Remy knew he wasn't going to let him take his (Y/n) anywhere. He was the one that had been with her since she had come to the school. Since she had joined the ranks of the X-Men. The one that had held her when she was scared as her powers had begun to change. To grow so strong that she didn't know if she could control them. He had been the one that had told her that he wouldn't leave her, no matter what. And he wasn't going to let some fly boy brother come along and ruin all his plans.
"Now come back to bed. Charles said that you need to rest. And that Banner guy said that they need to run some tests on you tomorrow. So, its best to do as they say." Remy told her. Taking her by the hand so that he could lead her back to the bed. The mutant finding himself pulled backwards into a softly chuckling (Y/n)'s arms.
"I'm not going back to bed for either of them. I will only come back if you, say that you want me to come back." (Y/n) said, letting out a squeal as Remy picked her up into his arms and carried her across the room, before dropping her onto the mattress, a soft smile creeping across the Cajun's lips as he looked down at his girl.
"Oh cher, I want you to come back to bed. And I don't think that keeping you awake for a little while longer will make things any worse." Remy hummed as he crawled up the bed. The oh so familiar sparkle in his eyes, telling (Y/n) that she was going to be awake for a lot longer.
>>---------------------------------<<
"So, how many more tests are you gonna do on her?" Remy asked Bruce, as he watched Helen and the other doctors continued to poke and prod at his girl, like they had been doing for what felt like hours.
"It shouldn't be much longer. We have never had a chance to really study a celestial before. Even though Peter has been here a couple of times, we have never had the opportunity to see what he can do. In truth, Peter shows no sign that he is anything but a normal human being. But (Y/n), well she is obviously quite the opposite. And if her powers have increased since Ego has died, we need to know what we might have to face when Peter and the other Guardians arrive. Whether she might be able to use her brother to further increase the powers that she currently possesses. (Y/n) is very powerful already. We have to be prepared for anything." Bruce explained. Both men watching as the doctors looked between the many screens that surrounded (Y/n). Neither man noticing that Tony and Steve had entered the room.
"Then you may want to hurry those tests up, Bruce. We just had word that Peter and the others are nearly here. We may just have to hope that if anything does happen, we have everything we need to contain it." Steve interrupted. Remy and the doctor turning to look at the captain. The Avengers hoping that this meeting was going to go without a hitch. That if anything did happen, that they would be prepared. And Remy, well Remy was just hoping that he wasn't going to lose his girl.
