Strong enough - Part 2 - Tony Stark x ? x Reader
I wanted to include the lyrics of "Strong enough" in this chapter. And I hope that you like who I have chosen as the mystery man.
Tony and the others listened as (Y/n) sang. It was true that they had all heard her sing before. That they had all been enchanted by her song. But this time there was something different. Something even deeper and smoother to her dulcet tone than there had ever been before. The billionaire watching as she swayed. The shimmer of her golden dress glinting in the glow of the spotlight, that surrounded her like a heavenly glow. It would be an understatement to say that (Y/n) was beautiful. And even in a world of super soldiers, wizards, witches, and a man that turned into a big green monster whenever he got mad, (Y/n) was something special. Or at least she was in Tony's eyes. And given what the Siren had said, someone else in the audience seemed to think so too.
Momentarily, Tony was able to avert his gaze from the sultry songstress, his eyes turning to all those around him. To his fellow Avengers at the same table. Each had a similar look in their eyes. It was a look of bewitchment. That all had fallen under the spell of the woman that had been named after the ancient temptresses. For a moment, Tony felt like Ulysses. But whereas the great ancient Greek hero had filled his crew's ears with wax so that they couldn't be tempted by the sirens song, his body bound to the mast so that only he could hear their voices. Here, it was as if he was the only one that wasn't enchanted. The only one not lured and tempted by the songstress. Tony feeling as though a part of the magic had gone from his life. Magic that it appeared that he would now not have a chance to back.
As (Y/n) continued to sing, it was becoming clear to the billionaire that she was stronger than he had ever thought. That she didn't need him. That she had never needed him. And that once again he had ruined what could possibly have been. That whoever this mystery man of (Y/n)'s was, he was so much better for her than he could ever have been. Tony hoping that given the fact that (Y/n)'s new man was in the audience, he might get a chance to meet the person that had given her the best months of her life.
Suddenly, a cacophonous round of applause followed by cheering and whistling, shook Tony from his thoughts. His eyes turning back to the Siren on the stage. (Y/n) raising her hands to quiet the appreciative audience.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." (Y/n) said, as the roar that filled the room slowly died down.
"There is another song that I would like to sing, if you will all indulge me." The Siren continued. The crowd once again clapping in approval.
"This is a song that I would like to sing for another man. A man that I have a feeling is also in the audience. A man that I know will realise that this is just for him. So, here goes." (Y/n) announced. The band striking up as the exquisite Siren began to sing.
"I don't need your sympathy
There's nothing you can say or do for me.
And I don't want a miracle
You'll never change for no one."
(Y/n) sang out. Whatever murmuring there had still been, stopping as the first words left her lips. The crowd watching as she took the microphone from its stand and sauntered forward.
"And I hear your reasons why.
Where did you sleep last night?
And was she worth it?
Was she worth it?"
(Y/n) continued. The eyes of the rest of the team turning from the exquisite singer to the billionaire that sat quietly. The spotlight following her as she made her way slowly down from the stage and into the crowd. The words of the chorus ringing in Tony's ears as they filled the venue.
"Cause I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go.
There's no more to say
So save your breath and
Walk away.
No matter what I hear you say
I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go"
Suddenly, there (Y/n) was, standing in front of the table that was filled with her teammates. Her song not stopping as she set her eyes firmly on Tony. The next words leaving her lips, letting the billionaire know exactly what she thought about him.
"So, you feel misunderstood
Baby, have I got news for you.
On being used, I could write the book.
But you don't wanna hear about it. Cause I've been losing sleep
And you've been goin' cheap
And she ain't worth half of me it's true
Now I'm telling you."
All the team continued to look between the Siren and the billionaire. Each of them knowing that every word that left her mouth was meant for Tony. That every syllable, was intended to show him that she didn't need or want him anymore. One man amongst them well aware that she was his now, and nothing that the billionaire could do or say, would change anything.
"That I'm strong enough
To live without you.
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go.
Come hell or waters high
You'll never see me cry
This is our last goodbye, it's true"
(Y/n) continued. Her serenade louder and prouder than any of the audience, or her friends had ever heard before.
"I'm telling you
Now I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go."
Finally (Y/n)'s voice faded away. Her sultry tone, replaced by the cheers from the crowd, ringing throughout the venue as she continued to stare at the billionaire.
"Hi baby. How did you like your song?" (Y/n) asked as her gaze still refused to leave Tony. The rest of the team growing wide eyed as Clint got to his feet and placed his arm around her waist. The archer unable to stop himself from smiling smugly, as he saw the looks of the others. The skilled marksman placing his hand on (Y/n)'s cheek, and slowly turning her head so that she was looking deep into his beautiful baby blues.
"I loved it. Thank you." Clint replied softly. The agent turning the Siren around completely, so that now she could look at nothing but him. His arms wrapped firmly around her, as they swayed to the music that could just be heard over the sounds of the appreciative audience.
"What say we get you out of here? I can hear the farm calling our names." Clint added, as he pushed a few stray strands of her from her face. His fingers brushing over the golden material that cover the body of his girl.
"I think I'd like that." (Y/n) replied, as the archer made to escort her from the auditorium. The others quickly jumping to their feet and racing to follow. All of them with more than one question to ask the pair. The only one left behind, Tony, as he continued to ponder whether he would be strong enough to go on without (Y/n). And that the only left to cry, would be him.
