Hide and Seek - Tony Stark x Reader
I saw the picture above, and my mind went all romantic and fluffy, because there is no way that man could actually get more gorgeous than his looks in this image. So, this is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy.
Bored! There was no other word for it but, bored. The snow around the compound had been falling for days and had prevented the team from venturing beyond the walls of the huge facility. The world outside looked wonderful. The trees, the houses in the distance, all covered in a thick blanket of perfect white. The smoke from the chimneys of the homes far beyond the grounds of the compound, making the whole scene look magical. Normally, (Y/n) would be out there enjoying the elements with Sam, Peter and even Bucky. The youngest of the Banner siblings always enjoying her time with the boys. It allowed her to be a child again as she threw snowballs at the others. The four of them racing around the grounds, using anything, or anyone, mostly Tony, to his complete annoyance, as cover for their game. But the snow was now thicker than normal, and the temperature had plummeted, so Bruce had decided that he should wear his big brother hat. Telling his sister that it would be better that she stayed inside. And, in fact, that it was not fitting for a Banner to play such childish games. Even though (Y/n) had seen him do exactly the same thing, when he thought no one was looking, on more than one occasion. So now, here she sat, looking longingly out at the world, racking her brains for something to do that would make the long, dull afternoon, go a little quicker. The rest of the team, and even her own brother, joining her in the common room as they all pondered the same question. Each of them trying to think of a way to alleviate the boredom. Usually, they would all be off doing their own thing, but Tony and Bruce had dragged themselves away from the lab. Peter had decided that there was nothing on TV. And even Steve and Bucky had decided that they had spent enough time in the gym.
"I could get my bow. We could set up some targets in here and have a competition." Cint suddenly said. The archer groaning as Tony glared at him.
"Oh no you don't, Legolas. If you want to do that, you can go train. I remember that the last time you tried that, you nearly burnt the place down with one of your incendiary arrows." Tony pointed out. The billionaires heart pounding faster in he watched (Y/n) stare out onto the snow covered land beyond the window.
It wasn't that he hadn't had other chances to express how he felt for (Y/n). It was just that every time he had tried to tell her, his mind had filled with terrible visions of her laughing at him. Telling him that he was a fool. That she could never love him. That he was too old. And the notion of rejection, made the usually confident Stark, shy away. But Bruce had mentioned that Professor Xavier had been speaking to her, Tony realising that the mutant doctor could be lured from their team, over to the X-Men. And that he either had to tell her how he felt or risk losing her forever.

(Y/n) watched Tony out of the corner of her eye. Why did he have to be so handsome? She was sure that last time she looked at him, she hadn't been sure how to take him. The billionaire always seeming to tease her. Yet now, now she saw him for what he was. An exquisite, breathtaking, wonderous man. A creature, to her eyes, of unparalleled beauty. And (Y/n) loved him. Part of her hated herself. He was, after all, her brother's friend. But the rest of her, well the rest of her loved him. And love knew nothing of age differences, of friends or disapproving brothers. Tony made her heart beat. He made everything better. Brighter. With a glance, he could make her imagine all the 'what could be's'. With a smile, he could make her wonder about all the 'what if's'. And with a word, he could make her see all the 'what will be's'. All she had to do was get him alone. To talk to him when Bruce and all the others weren't with him. Though how she was going to do that when they were all couped up inside, she didn't know.
It wasn't that she hadn't had other chances to express how he felt for Tony. It was just that every time she had tried to tell him, her mind filled with terrible visions of him laughing at her. Telling her that she was a foolish girl. That he could never love her. That she was too young. And the notion of rejection, made the usually confident young Banner, shy away. But as she had spoken to Charles. The professor saying that she had a place in the X-Men if ever she wanted it. (Y/n) realising that she either had to speak up and find out if he felt the same way for her, or maybe move on.

"Hide and seek. Tony suddenly blurted out. All eyes turning to look at the billionaire. Each one of the team wondering where he had pulled the idea from.
"Hide and seek? Really, Tony? We aren't children." Clint complained. The archer glaring at (Y/n) as she began to laugh.
"Oh please, Clint. You are a bigger kid than any of us. And I don't hear you coming up with any better ideas. I think that hide and seek is a wonderful notion, Tony. And it is certainly better than sitting here for the rest of the afternoon. Consider it a form of training." (Y/n) said. Shaking her head and rolling her eyes as Clint crossed his arms and grumbled under his breath about him not being a child, and that (Y/n) knew nothing.
"Fine. But no cheating by using any powers. Especially you, (Y/n). You ain't allowed to use that damn x-ray vision thing of yours." Clint complained. The archer furrowing his brows as (Y/n) laughed again.
"Spoil sport. You're only sore cos I can see you when you're taking a shower, and you can't see me." (Y/n) told him. Clint sitting bolt upright in his chair and staring at her in disbelief.
"You....you don't really do that, do you?" Clint spluttered out. The archer feeling as his cheeks begin to glow bright red.
"No. But it could be interesting. What say we give it a try, handsome?" (Y/n) replied. Wriggling her eyebrows suggestively.
"Good. That's settled then." Tony suddenly declared as he jumped to his feet. Doing his best to steer the conversation away from (Y/n) watching Clint in the shower, as thankfully all the others agreed that Tony's plan was better than anything they had thought of.
"I will go first. All of you go hide, and I will come and find you." Tony continued. Smiling at (Y/n) as she and all the others scurried off. Sam dragging Bucky from the room, determined that the grumpy old soldier was going to join in too. Whether he liked it or not.
>>---------------------------------<<
(Y/n) closed the door to the small room behind her. Sure, that Tony wouldn't find her, no matter how hard he tried. She had found the small room when she had been exploring one day. It was her secret place. Her sanctuary. Her little piece of calm in a usually chaotic world. She would come here when listening to Bucky and Sam complain at one another, got too much. When the others became a little too hectic. When she needed a place to think. When she needed a moment of time to herself so that her thoughts could drift to Tony, without the cacophony of life getting in the way.
Quietly, she sat next to the small window. Her warm breath misting up the panes of glass before her fingers absentmindedly drew patterns in the surface. How long should she wait before she came out and claimed her victory? She had a feeling that the others would be easy to find. Steve would find a well thought out place. Something strategic. But Tony would still find him easily, much to the Captain's annoyance. Clint would predictably hide in the vents. Her brother would just wander slowly back to the labs and find something of his own to do. Wanda and Vision would most likely just go back to their room and snuggle under the blankets. Peter would probably go stick to a roof somewhere. And Bucky and Sam would still be sniping at one another. Both completely forgetting about what they were supposed to be doing. Sam much preferring to use the time, to make snide remarks at the old soldier.
"Found you." A sudden soft voice said. (Y/n) turning to see Tony looking at her. A sweet soft smile gracing his handsome face as he moved further into the room. Closing the door behind him.
"How did you find me? I thought that I was the only one that knew about this room. Please don't tell me that I am the first one that you found?" (Y/n) enquired. Feeling slightly annoyed that her victory had been denied her.
"In truth, I was only actually looking for you, (Y/n). I only suggested the game so that we could have a few moments together." Tony admitted, as he took a seat next to her. (Y/n) not sure what to think or say in reply to the billionaire's confession.
"I knew that you would come here. I know that no one knows of this place except you and me. That this is your little place." Tony continued, as he moved a little closer to the object of his affection. (Y/n) knowing that she shouldn't be shocked that Tony would know every room in the compound.
"Why would you only want to look for me? Why would you want us to be alone?" (Y/n) asked. Her eyes fluttering shut as Tony reached up and placed his hand gently on her cheek. His palm warm against her cool skin.
"Because (Y/n). I want to tell you how I feel before it's too late. To tell you that I love you. That I have loved you for so long. And even if you don't feel the same. I need you to know. To know that I will always love you. And I don't want you to leave us. To leave me." Tony explained. (Y/n) opening her eyes and staring at the older man. The younger Banner hoping that she had really just heard what she hoped she had heard. And that all this wasn't just some wonderful dream.
"Oh, Tony." (Y/n) hummed, as she threw herself into his arms. Holding him tight. Fearing that if she let go, she would suddenly wake up.
"I love you too, Tony. I've wanted to tell you so many times how I felt. I don't want to lose you. I don't want to leave you." (Y/n) declared. Her body trembling as Tony brushed his fingers through her hair.
"Then don't leave me. Don't leave us. Stay here and promise to be mine, and I will be yours, from now until the end of the world." Tony replied. His heart skipping a beat as he felt (Y/n) nod slowly.
"I promise to be yours from now until the end of the world." Tears of joy rolling down her cheeks as Tony pledged the same.
"Well, sweetheart. Why don't we go and find Bruce and the others, so we can give them the good news?" Tony said, as he took (Y/n) by the hand. Tony leading his prize back out into the compound. Knowing that he would never regret this little game of Hide and Seek.
