Dirty Dancing - Part 1 - Logan x Reader
I haven't written anything for Logan in a while. So, here goes. Hope you enjoy this first part.
(Y/n) hoped up and down, holding tightly onto the foot that Logan had stepped on for what felt like the hundredth time. (Y/n) sure that her poor toes must be as flat as a pancake by now, due to the weight of the feral's adamantium covered bones stomping down on her not as robust foot.
"I can't do it!" Logan exclaimed as he dropped into one of the chairs that (Y/n) had moved out of the way, so that they could practice. A little part of him sorry that he had started all this in the first place.
"Nonsense." (Y/n) retorted. Grimacing as she tentatively placed her battered and bruised appendage back to the floor. Testing to see if it could hold her weight.
"Its dancing, Logan. Its not like I'm asking you to perform brain surgery in the middle of an earthquake. All we need is for you to learn a few basic steps, and you'll be able to dance the night away with this lucky lady of yours. Just give it another chance. And when we are finished, she will never know that you once had two left feet." (Y/n) chuckled. Hoping that one of those said left feet, wouldn't find hers again, any time soon.
Logan sighed. He knew that (Y/n) was right. All the abilities that his mutation gave him, surely that could extend to a little dancing. He was, after all, doing all this for a good reason. He was doing it for (Y/n). Not that she knew. He just wanted to ensure that he made the best impression possible on the night of the party.
Logan wasn't normally into these kinds of things. It was all a little to frou frou for his tastes. He was just a simple beer and stogie kind of guy. Happy with a night at the local bar and a few games of pool. But the Avengers had invited the X-Men to a function to be held at Stark's tower. A lavish event by all accounts, that Charles had indicated he would like everyone to attend, including the usually gruff feral. The professor stating that it would be good for the two groups to meet and become familiar with one another. Especially if they were going to work together in the future.
Usually, Logan would just have agreed to go along, and then conveniently found himself too far from the school to return and change for the evening. But when he had heard (Y/n) gush to Rogue and Storm about what she had heard concerning the ever so handsome and gentlemanly Captain Rogers and Sargent Barnes. About how charming and debonair Tony Stark was. And about how funny this so called "Falcon" and "Ant-man" were, Logan had decided that there was no way that he was going to let all that Avenger smarm and charm win over (Y/n). So, he had made up his mind to do the only thing that he could do, and that was go to the party. But he wasn't likely to keep (Y/n) from the clutches of Stark and the other members of the boy band, if he couldn't be the one that swept her onto the dance floor and kept her there all night. So, he had hatched a plan. He had told (Y/n) that at the party he planned to ask a lady to dance. A lady that he cared for more than she could ever know. And he needed (Y/n) to help him to learn to dance, so that he could sweep her off her feet and tell her how he felt. (Y/n) seeming to agree happily. And that, given that it was only a few days until the party, it was better to start sooner rather than later. The female mutant, pushing the chairs in the large common room to one side, so that they could begin.
"Look, Logan. If this lady of yours is so important to you, and you want to impress her that much, then get up and stop sulking. It's my feet you're stepping on, not your own. And if I can deal with it, then so can you. So, come on ya big baby." (Y/n) told him, holding out her hand for him to take. Logan looking up into her smiling eyes. The feral knowing how surprised she would be when he asked her to dance at the big bash.
"Just do me a favour. If you are going to step on my foot again, could you make it the other one. I don't think that my right foot can take anymore punishment." (Y/n) laughed. Starting the music once again and placing one of Logan's hands on her hip, and the other in her hand. (Y/n) slowly counting the steps as they began to move.
Logan hadn't been able to believe his eyes when Charles had introduced (Y/n) to him and the others. The feral finding that the vision before him was more beautiful than he had ever thought anything possibly could be. The team had been after (Y/n) for a while. It wasn't that she was necessarily what you would call a bad guy, but she was a thief. A mutant gifted with the twin skills of intangibility and invisibility. Both abilities which she had used to her advantage when getting into some of the most secure buildings and facilities on the eastern side of the United States. Charles had eventually managed to find her using Cerebo and had talked her into using her talents for good, rather than bad. Presenting the mutant, that most knew only as Spectre, as the newest member of the X-Men.
From that moment, Logan had know what he wanted. Known that despite the fact that he normally liked to just rely on himself, and didn't want to get anyone else mixed up in his crazy life, that (Y/n)'s life had been even crazier than his own, and that had led him to think that maybe, she was just the girl for him.
She was able to put up with his grumpy nature. His gruff tone. His long silent periods. The fact that he would up and leave on his bike, and not come back for days. His stinky stogies, and his tales about the wars that he had been involved in, when everyone else had grown bored of them. All of that done with the most beautiful smile he had ever laid his eyes on. So now, now he would get her to teach him to dance, then he could whirl her around the dance floor and tell her how he felt.
(Y/n) tried to breath normally as she felt Logan's hand grip her waist tight. The big feral doing his best not to step on her foot again. The feeling of his body close to hers, making her mind spin. What she wouldn't give to be the lady that Logan seemed to be so taken with. To be the woman swept up into his large, strong arms and danced with all night. Even when she had been on the wrong side of the law, she had sometimes waited for the X-Men to turn up at one of her crime scenes, knowing that he would be there. (Y/n) sure that she had never seen a more handsome man in her entire life. And when they had finally been officially introduced, she knew there and then that she had lost her heart. And as she had got to know him better, that love for him had just grown. But she had found that actually telling the large feral how she felt was easier said than done.
She didn't mind him being gruff and grumpy. That was just him. She didn't mind him disappearing or not talking. He was just the type that needed his space. And she could even take the smell of his cigars and beer. In a way she found them pleasing, comforting. Yet how she could actually tell him all that when they both seemed to always be surrounded by the other adults and all the kids, she didn't know. And now it looked like that she had lost her chance. Logan loved another. And even if she told him how she felt now, it wasn't going to change anything. So, she would take this chance to get close to him. The last chance that she might get. A chance to feel herself in his arms before he told the lady he loved, about his feelings on the night of the party.
