Always the quiet ones - The Expendables - Yin Yang x Reader

So, this is a combined request, both of which are for NormandyWright. It is my first imagine for Yin Yang and took a little long for me to come up with than normal. But, as always, I hope you enjoy

"(Y/N)! Dahlin. Now would be good." Barney shouted through the comms. The big man hoping that his daughter would be able to give him and the others, the information that they needed.

"Dad. I know. But you can't rush genius." (Y/n) called back, as she watched the images from the drone camera high above the action, on the laptop in front of her.

"Ok. There are a couple more boy bands coming up on your right flank, with two Hell's Angels leading the way. And a moron carrying an RPG. Oh, shit........."

"Oh shit, what?" Christmas yelled. (Y/n) and Yin Yang yanking the comms from their ears, as a sudden burst of automatic gunfire nearly bust an eardrum.

"Armoured vehicle, sporting an ever so nice 50 cal. on its roof. About a click from your position and closing fast. These guys mean business, boys. Hang on. Let my guy take care of this. I added something just a little extra to him." (Y/n) explained. Barney just shaking his head at Christmas and the others, as they all waited to see what the little tech head had come up with now. All of them ducking as a sudden and very loud explosion rang out.

"To steal a line from a famous movie. 'The quarterback is toast'. God, I've always wanted to say that. Dad. All you have to worry about are the boy bands with their little toy and the two Hell's Angels." (Y/n) chuckled. The youngest of the Expendables deciding that she was having a great time, apart from the sporadic gun fire that Yin Yang was trying his best to protect her against.

"She's definitely your daughter, Barn." Christmas yelled out, as he and the others ducked for cover. Another round of gun fire sending all the boys scurrying for the nearest sturdy wall. Well, all apart from Gunner that is, who was having far too much fun with his new grenade launcher.

"Yeah. The apple didn't fall far from the tree with that one." Caesar added, as he looked over at the always proud father.

"What can I say. Not only does she get her smarts from me, but her looks too." Barney replied. Peering out from behind the wall. Firing off a couple of shots, before having the reload his trusty custom colt.

"Oh please. (Y/n) is gorgeous. You on the other hand look like a baboon's ass." Christmas chimed in. The ex-SAS soldier jumping to his feet and letting his Heckler do the talking, as he decided that hiding was not the way to go. The others following suit, as (Y/n)'s boy bands and their entourage made an appearance.

"Ok guys. I know you're talking about me. But I have a little update from the eye in the sky. I would like to suggest that you boys get your asses outta there, cos these guys have managed to pull a damn tank from the aether." (Y/n) told them. The team running for the vehicle that Toll and Doc had managed to, er.....liberate, from a rather unpleasant man, who had made the unfortunate decision to try and kill them.

"Yin Yang and I will meet you back at the plane. I'll have the old girl ready to take off by the time you guys get there." The young Ross continued, as she got to her feet and closed her laptop. The last thing the team hearing being Yin shout, and (Y/n) scream.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N), DAHLIN!?" Barney exclaimed, as a sense of fear greater than anything he had ever known, gripped at his very heart as he tried to reach his daughter.

"YIN YANG! YIN YANG CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" Barney shouted out as he threw the truck around the corner. The big man concerned that he couldn't even raise the man that seemed to be his daughter's eternal guard dog. The shaolin her ever quiet guardian.

"I told you to not just leave the smurf with her. Those damn shurikens of his are no better than toothpicks. If she's dead, I'm gonna kill him." Gunner growled out from the back. His comment not making anything easier for Barney as he pushed his foot harder down on the accelerator.

>>--------------------------------<<

"(Y/n). You have to stay still. The shrapnel hit the bone. You're bleeding badly." Yin Yang told her, as he knelt down by her side. The sound of the explosion still ringing in his ears. The martial arts expert grabbing for his gun as a shot rang out. The bullet whizzing past the pair.

"Yin, it's not safe. Get outta here. If that is a lone sniper, he is probably reloading right now and has you in his sights. He'll think I'm dead from the explosion. Go to the plane and get that bucket of bolts started. I'll be fine." (Y/n) insisted. Yin refusing, despite her pleas for him to leave her side.

Yin knew that he watched over (Y/n) for a reason. That it wasn't just the fact that he seemed to be the only one that Barney trusted alone with his child, that made him always volunteered to be her guardian, while the whiz kid did what she did best. It was that Yin had found another part of his American dream. And (Y/n) was it. The little guy always needing to make sure that she was safe. That the woman he was in love with, wasn't hurt. Yet, here she was, hurt, because he hadn't been watching properly. His mind distracted with thoughts of how he was not only going to tell (Y/n) about his feelings for her. But also explain to Barney that all this time he had had an ulterior motive. And that was to get to know (Y/n) better. Much better.

"Yin, please. I don't want you getting hurt. I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you because of me." (Y/n) beseeched. As Yin tried to raise Barney, or one of the others on his fried comms.

"I'm not leaving you, (Y/n). I......I love you." Yin told her, as he brushed away the hair from her sweat soaked face. (Y/n) smiling despite the pain that she felt.

"You. You really love me?" (Y/n) asked. The usually quiet man nodding, as he tried his best to look at the woman by his side and watch out for anything that may suggest that another bullet was coming their way.

"Oh, that's good. Cos, that means I don't have to keep feeling so weird about loving you then." (Y/n) chuckled. The young Ross grimacing as the shrapnel rubbed up against her bone.

"You love me?" Yin replied. The shaolin ducking as bullet raced passed. About a foot over his head.

"Well, yeah. Why do you think that I'm always asking you to show me all those martial arts moves that you do? Why I'm always happy when you volunteer to be my bodyguard. If you're with me, I know that you are safe. And as much as I love the others. I would rather have you with me." (Y/n) explained. Yin not quite knowing what to say in reply. Another shot forcing him to fire off multiple rounds in the direction of the shot.

>>----------------------------------<<

"What was (Y/n)'s position?" Barney asked. The boys knowing that, despite the fact that they could have a tank up their ass, there was no way that they were going to the plane.

"Just follow the flying elephant." Galgo called out before Christmas had time to say anything.

"Flying elephant...........? Oh, yeah. Follow (Y/n)'s drone, Dumbo. It's programmed to automatically home in on the signal from her cell phone." Christmas told Barney, after he realised what Galgo was referring to. Lee knowing that (Y/n)'s highly expensive and technical drone, that no one else was allowed to touch. Had been named after one of her favourite cartoon characters.

"There it is. Follow that elephant." Caesar said, as he stuck his head in between Barney and Christmas' seats. Pointing up into the sky at the drone that was dutifully returning to its maker.

>>--------------------------------<<

"Its going to be ok, (Y/n)." Yin reassured, as he did his best to pull her into cover.

"Boy. That guy is one lousy shot. There is no way that that is a sniper. He couldn't hit the side of a barn." (Y/n) said, as yet another bullet went passed. Yin covering (Y/n)'s body as best he could, despite the bullet being nowhere near them.

"Ok, my handsome crouching tiger. Why don't you tell me more about how much you love me, until dad and the others get here to save my ass. Then when we get back Stateside, we can work out how best to tell big, bad Barney Ross, that his daughter has lost his heart to the little guy." (Y/n) told him. Holding onto his hand as yet another rush of pain coursed through her body.

"Ok. You tell him, and I'll hide......." Yin said. Interrupted midsentence as the sound of banging and then gunfire, followed by a loud scream and then silence stopped him.

"Looks like dad and the rest of the boys figured out to follow Dumbo. I'll give them their due. They aren't nearly as dumb as they look." (Y/n) chuckled. Barney's eyes growing wide as he rushed to his daughter's side. The big man doing his best to pick her up without hurting her.

"Oh. Yin. We will be discussing that matter further when we get home. And don't think about disappearing again. Now I have you, I'm not letting go." (Y/n) called out. Barney furrowing his brow as he looked between his daughter and Yin, who had just rushed to his side.

"What the hell's been going on between you two?" Barney huffed, as Doc helped him secure (Y/n) in the back of the truck.

"Don't worry, dad. I'll explain later. Now, can we get outta this hell hole before I bleed to death?" (Y/n) replied. Barney knowing that he was going to have more than a few questions for the pair. Especially considering that Yin was now sat next to (Y/n) in the truck and kissing her on the forehead. Christmas unable to do anything but shrug and smile as he got back in the truck.

"Its always the quiet ones ya gotta watch, Barn. Now, lets do as the lady said, and get outta here." Christmas told him. Barney not quite sure if he was ready for (Y/n)'s explanation when they got home.
