Innocent bystander - Part 2 - Avengers x Reader
"How did you do that, my lady?" Thor asked quietly, not wanting to further distress the obviously already highly confused woman.
"I-I-I didn't do it. Honestly. It, it just........it just came to me." (Y/n) stuttered out, as she hesitantly pushed the mighty hammer back towards its rightful owner. Thor and the others continuing to stare.
"(Y/n). How are you with a bow and arrows." Bruce suddenly asked. The team as well as (Y/n) turning to look at the doctor. All wondering where this line of questioning was headed.
"I.......well, I had plastic one when I was a kid. You know the type with suction cups on the end of the arrows. I couldn't shoot it for shit though. Why?" (Y/n) enquired, watching as Bruce began to push through the various screens that detailed (Y/n)'s ever changing situation.
"Let's just call it a hunch. Director Fury. May I request that I be allowed to take (Y/n) down to the training area. I will also require Clint's assistance." Bruce said. A small smile pulling at his lips as Fury reluctantly nodded.

The team waited outside, as (Y/n) dressed. Not one of them was sure that letting someone with unknown powers wander around S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters unhindered, was a good idea. But Bruce had tried to assure them that if his theory was correct, then he might possibly know what Loki had planned for them.
"What do you have in mind, Bruce? And why do you need Clint?" Natasha asked, as she and the others looked at the softly smiling doctor.
"You'll see. If this works, then I think I will be able to explain what the Chitauri hit (Y/n) with, and what Loki is up to." Bruce explained. The team turning as the door behind them opened to reveal (Y/n) and a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. (Y/n)'s hands and ankles secured by heavy chains and cuffs.
"I think that you will find that it is better to release her." Bruce said, as he looked over to Fury.
"If I'm right, you don't think you'll want to get her mad." Bruce continued. Fury hesitantly indicating for the agent to release the woman from her bondage.

The team watched on as Bruce and (Y/n) made their way into the training area. Targets were already set out for Clint to train, and the archer was as confused as the others as to what was about to happen.
"Clint. Could I borrow one of your bows and some arrows. please?" Bruce asked, as Clint reached over and grabbed one of his many practice bows. Handing it to Bruce, before the doctor turned his attention to (Y/n).
"So, you've never fired a bow before?" Bruce asked (Y/n) again, ensuring that everyone could hear, and was taking full notice.
"Er....... no. Like I said, just a plastic one when I was little." (Y/n) reiterated, feeling slightly silly that she was going to fail so abysmally in front of so many people.
"Good. Now, do you see those three targets?" Bruce continued, as he pointed to three targets right down the far end of the room. (Y/n) nodding as she looked between the markers and the doctor.
"Well, I want you to take this bow, these three arrows, and shot them into those targets, all at the same time." Bruce explained, as (Y/n) stared at him in disbelief.
"Bruce. I know you have a theory, but like I said, I don't know how." (Y/n) began, as she looked at the archer that was eyeing her suspiciously.
"(Y/n). Please. Just notch the arrows. Aim. Then release. I have a feeling that you will find it easy." Bruce tried to reassure. Taking hold of (Y/n)'s shoulders and turning her so that she was stood facing the targets.
Taking a deep breath, (Y/n) did as the doctor requested. The arrows seeming to expertly move between her fingers as she placed them on the drawstring before pulling it back. Closing her eyes, she took another breath, the feel of the bow in her hand, and the end of the arrows between her fingers, suddenly seeming as though they were extensions of her own body. As natural as breathing itself.
As her eyes flew open, it was is if the targets were so close that she could touch them. Her vision sharper than it had ever been, her finger suddenly letting go of the drawstring, the arrows speeding towards their targets. The projectiles landing dead centre of each bullseye.
"How? I mean......... how is that even possible? I can't do this." (Y/n) asked in disbelief, as she turned to look at Bruce, and a highly confused Clint.
"Well, I think I can begin to explain to you, and the others what's going on. But we have to make sure of one thing. Under no circumstances are we to let you get angry. I am not sure how you will deal with it." Bruce said, as he took the bow from (Y/n) and gave it back to a speechless archer.
>>-------------------------------<<
"So? Are you going to tell us what's going on, or are you just going to keep it too yourself?" Tony asked with a huff, as crossed his arms over his chest, and stared at Bruce and the woman by his side.
"Well. I believe that what Loki and the Chitauri turned (Y/n) into is.........well is us. All of us. All our best traits, all or skills. All our knowledge, but none of our weaknesses. I'm even beginning to wonder if part of Loki is in there too. I think that they intended to use whoever their weapon hit, against us. And if we hadn't stopped him, (Y/n) would have been Loki's to command. It is obvious from results, that (Y/n) has already gained all our combined intelligence, as well as our strength. And with Mjolnir coming to her, it is certain that she has the same abilities as Thor, Steve healing ability, and Clint's skill with the bow. Every time she has an episode, she seems to gain another ability. The one thing that I am concerned about is that I'm not sure how she will deal with her version of Hulk." Bruce began to explain. All present continuing to stare in disbelief at the doctor and (Y/n).
"So, what do we do with her?" Clint suddenly asked. (Y/n) glaring at the archer, not liking the tone of his voice.
"Firstly, I am sat right here, you know. Secondly, I'm not some kind of animal that you can just decide whether to keep or destroy. And finally, you use that tone of voice with me again, and you might just learn what it will be like if I do get angry." (Y/n) growled. Clint looking slightly uncomfortable as he saw a glint of green in the scowling woman's eyes.
"(Y/n). Its ok. Please" Bruce said, placing his hand gently on her arm and easing her back into her chair.
"I think that it will be safer for everyone, if (Y/n) stays with us. That way I can keep an eye on her ever changing condition, and we can also help train her. If she has our abilities, then it is best for her to know how to use them properly. Also, if others find out about her capabilities, then they could do goodness knows what to obtain her." Bruce explained. The team looking at one another as they realised that he was right.
None of them were in any real condition to face another enemy just yet. Especially not one that was them. All of them rolled into one. New York had been tough on each one of them in one way or another. And maybe having someone else around that could do what they could, might not be as bad as it seemed.
"I want to meet this Loki." (Y/n) said quietly. Her eyes focused on the table as the assembled heroes looked at her in disbelief.
"No, No. No way. Definitely not." Clint exclaimed, banging his fist on the desk.
"We aren't letting that megalomaniacal asshole anywhere near earth again. Will someone else tell her, or is it just me?" Clint continued, as he turned to the others for support.
"He is quite right, my lady. Loki is imprisoned on Asgard. And it is better that he stay there." Thor explained, as (Y/n) suddenly looked up.
"Look. I'm not like you. I had a life before this. A normal life. I had a job that I was devoted to. People that I loved. Do you actually think that I can go back to all that now? Do you think that anything for me will ever be the same again? He's taken it from me. Made me into something I don't even know if I'll be able to control. And I want to know why. So, I don't care whether it's here, or Asgard. But I want to meet that son of a bitch and ask him why. I want to look into his eyes and see if he truly is the monster that I think. And anyway, if it's true what Bruce says, and there could be part of him waiting to emerge from inside me too. I would imagine that I'm more dangerous to him, than he is to me." (Y/n) said, as she got to her feet and looked at Natasha, Clint, Thor, and Tony.
"Now, if you will excuse us. I think Bruce better tell me the best way to deal with this Hulk thing that's waiting inside me." (Y/n) finished, ignoring the others present as she grabbed hold of Bruce's hand and dragged him out of the room.
