Big bad wolf - Expendables - Church x Reader
Now I know that Church isn't an Expendable, but I got this imagine in my head and had to write it down. I know that Church is OOC to what we see in the movies, but I believe that we all have different sides to our character, and that includes Church. Hope you like 😁
"(Y/n) can you hear me honey?" Church screamed through his comms as he ran from the compound, dodging the bullets that whizzed past his head.
"(Y/N) PLEASE!" He shouted, ducking behind some barrels as the chopper came to land just outside the complex's walls. He leaned out briefly, firing off round after round as a group of heavily armed men barrelled towards him.
"(Y/n), if you can here me, the transport's here, we have to leave." Church said, hoping that the woman that he so desperately wanted to see, could hear him.
"GET IN THE CHOPPER NOW!" Henderson bellowed, indicating for Church to get on board.
"But (Y/n) is still somewhere inside." Church shouted, trying to be heard above the sound of the rota blades and the gun fire.
"She knew what could happen when she signed up for the job Church, now get in or we could all die." Henderson told him, making the sign for the chopper pilot to take off.
"I'm sorry (Y/n)." Church whispered, jumping into the back of the helicopter, watching as the melee below disappeared from sight.

"(Y/n) dahlin, did you find that spanner yet?" Barney called out; his voice muffled due to his head being buried deep within the plane's right engine.
"Maybe if you kept these things in some semblance of order, I would have found it five minutes ago." (Y/n) huffed, searching through the pile of tools.
"Now where would the fun in that be?" Christmas chuckled, as he leaned out of the cockpit window.
"As soon as I find that spanner, I am going to throw it at your head, you know that don't ya Santa?" (Y/n) said, turning around to look at Christmas, who quickly ducked his head back inside.
"Oh, I put it in the office." Barney remembered, taking his head out from inside the engine, and wiping his oily hands on a cloth.
"One of these days Barney Ross." (Y/n) warned with a smile, as she made her way to Barney's office to find the offending tool.
"Come on (Y/n), ya know ya love me." Barney chuckled, watching as the younger woman walked away.
"You guys just go from one bucket of bolts to another don't you." A smooth smug voice said from behind Barney, causing Barney and Christmas to groan audibly.
"What the hell do you want? I didn't think things like you could come out until after the sun had set." Christmas said, making his way down the steps from the plane's fuselage, glaring at the smirking CIA agent.
"Now don't be like that Alfalfa, this time I have a good job for you." Church said, making himself comfortable on the stool next to the plane.
"Oh yeah? You said that about the last one." Christmas growled, as he and Barney came to stand in front of Church.
"Look Church, just get it over with, I'm busy." Barney said, not having the time or patients for Church's antics.
As Church outlined the latest job that he had decide to force on the team, (Y/n) made her way back from the office.
"Hey Barn, I couldn't find the spanner you wanted, but I found.........." (Y/n) began, only stopping when her eyes fell on a now shocked looking Church.
"(Y/n)?" Church said softly, as he rose from the stool and made his way over to the woman.
"How?...... When?......... Oh my god, I thought you were dead!" Church stammered, as he tried to reach for (Y/n) hand, only to have it snatched away as she ran back into Barney's office.
Church made to follow, only to find himself stopped by Christmas. "I think that it is obvious that the lady doesn't want to see you, so I suggest that you leave." Christmas growled, before making his way to find (Y/n).
"But." Church said, only to be stopped by Barney.
"Leave!" Barney warned, as he followed after his two friends.
As Barney got to the office, he found Christmas sat next to (Y/N) on the sofa, his arm around the shocked looking woman.
"Its ok (Y/n) he's gone, do you wanna tell us what that was all about, why does Church know you, and why would he think you were dead?" Barney asked, as he sat down on her other side.
(Y/n) sighed, her eyes scrunching together as all the memories of her previous life flooded back.
"When I was in college, this guy came to see me, worked out that I was being scouted by the CIA, and he made me an offer that I couldn't refuse; so as soon as I graduated, I went to work for the agency. I was partnered with a more experienced agent by the name of Alex Church, our relationship was purely business until one day when we were sent in undercover as a married couple, and to cut a long story short, it worked out that our relationship was far more than just business." (Y/n) explained, as the two men looked at her.
"You mean, you and Church..........?" Christmas asked, finding it hard to believe that a woman like (Y/n) would have anything to do with a man like Church.
"Yep, I'm afraid so. The agency didn't know about our relationship, even though Alex seemed to spend most of his time at my apartment; and to be honest, everything was good...........he was actually different when we were alone together, and I loved him; but we were sent on a mission with a couple of other agents to Mogadishu, and it all changed. We achieved what we were sent in for, but as we tried to escape, I was captured, and instead of coming to find me, the man that told me he loved me, left me in that hell hole. I can't tell you how long I was held, days and nights bled into one another, and between the torture and the beatings, I spent most of my time in and out of consciousness." (Y/n) confessed, wiping away the tears that rolled slowly down her cheeks.
All the boys had seen the scars on her face and arms, but none of them wanted to pry; (Y/n) had always kept her previous life quiet, and even though they wanted to ask, they knew better.
"I only got out when a group that were rivals to the ones that held me, stormed the compound; when they found me, they thought that I could be of use so they took me with them, and I stayed at their camp until I was at least able to walk properly again. I persuaded them that I could be of more use to them if I was back stateside, and as soon as I touched down, I disappeared. The CIA and Church never knew or cared if I was alive, so I didn't care about them; I drifted for a while, until Bonaparte told me that he could find me something new to belong to. That's when you guys came along." (Y/n) said, smiling softly as Barney pulled her to his side, still amazed at the woman's story.
"Why don't ya take off dahlin, me and Christmas can take it from here." Barney said, kissing (Y/n) on the forehead, before he and Christmas watched (Y/n) make her way out of the hangar.
"Aston Martin DB9, I should have known it was you from the car; you did always want one of these." Church said, coming up behind (Y/n) as she unlocked the car.
"You did always have good taste." He said, placing his hand gently on her shoulder.
"I have good taste in everything but men." (Y/n) hissed, pushing Church's hand off.
"Why (Y/n) ....... why didn't you come and see me, why didn't you come back to me?" Church asked, as (Y/n) spun around, her eyes burning as she glared at the man in front of her.
"Come back to you? Are you out of your mind? You left me Alex, you left me in that hell hole, and you saved your own ass; do you have any idea what they did to me? You didn't care about me, and you certainly didn't love me, so why the hell should I let you believe that I was anything but dead?" (Y/n) asked, her voice trembling with anger.
"Henderson was the one that made me leave, we would have all been dead if we had stayed. I tried to get a team together to come and find you, but they wouldn't allow it." Church tried to explain, as he caught (Y/n)'s arm.
"I love you (Y/n), nothing has ever changed that; there is no one else for me. I'm not the man I used to be (Y/n), but my feelings for you never died even when I thought you had." Church told her, pulling her into his arms.
"Get the hell off me." (Y/n) growled, pushing Church away, and slapping him around the face.
"The only person you love or will ever love, is yourself Alex Church. Now stay away from me." (Y/n) told him, as she got into the car, and sped off.
Church took out his cell phone as he took a note of the cars license plate. "This is Church, I want you to run a plate for me, I want to know everything you can find out." Church told the person on the other end of the line, as he got back into his car.

"How the hell do you dodge all those bullets, but somehow trip over your own feet and break your arm?" Doc chuckled, helping (Y/n) down from the plane, her broken arm in a sling.
The latest mission that Church had sent the team on had been successful, despite a chaotic gun battle in which (Y/n) had had to jump down from a second floor room, only to land awkwardly and fracture her arm.
"Next time I have to jump from a second storey window, I'm gonna make sure that I push you out first, so I have a soft landing." (Y/n) scolded, trying to keep a straight face as Doc pretended to be hurt.
"Nah, his heads that inflated, he'd just float." Christmas joked, grinning at the big man.
"Well I don't know about you, but I think that its time for a beer." Barney said, looking at the rest of the team as they packed away the gear.
"You coming (Y/n)?" Christmas asked, as he and the boys made their way out of the hangar.
"I'll take a rain check Santa; I have somewhere I need to go." (Y/n) said, waving the boys off as they disappeared into the distance.
As (Y/n) sat on the bench, looking out onto the water, she felt someone come and sit by her side.
"I knew you'd be here, you always used to come down here when you had to think." Church said, staring out onto the water as the light began to slowly fade.
"Oh please, more like the guys you had following me since the day in the hangar told you where I was. I'm not stupid Alex, I did used to be your partner, I remember how you work." (Y/n) told him, grimacing as she cradled her broken arm.
"Whether you believe it or not (Y/n), I remember everything you ever did, everything we did; and I used to come down here myself when I needed to feel close to you. When I got the message that you had been injured, from Bamm - Bamm, I thought that I had lost you again, and I don't think I could bare that; I just want you to give me one more chance, one more chance to get things back to what they used to be." Church said, tentatively gripping onto (Y/n)'s hand.
"I know I'm no Prince Charming, and you've never been a damsel in distress; but I think we could make it work." Church told her, as the two continued to look out over the watery expanse.
"I actually preferred the big bad wolf myself, I always found Prince Charming overrated." (Y/n) said, as she squeezed Church's hand slightly.
"So, Mr. Big Bad Wolf, how about you take this non damsel in distress for a drink, cos those damn painkillers are wearing off and my arm is killing me; and if that goes well, we'll see where we go from there." (Y/n) said, as she stood and helped Church to his feet.
Church smiled, offering (Y/n) his arm. "It will be my pleasure." He said, leading her to the car and helping her inside.
It wasn't going to be straightforward, and it wasn't going to be easy; but maybe even the big bad wolf could prove he had a side worth loving again.
