Chapter 3

William Aaronsons ^

It was quite peculiar to say that Professor Diggory himself came. Rather than that, He sent this moody lady who, in Miriam's thoughts was stuck-up. According to her, she was Mrs. Macready. She looked like that kind of school teacher that would yell at you lest you say one word. It was mighty right to say that the name tags say, Professor Digory Kirke. It was not to say, Mrs. Macready whatever her first name is. Rather a lazy man, in Miriam's first thoughts. But, oh well. His mistake.

The weather outside was terribly gloomy. All clouds and rain. What fun was that when you could be running in the sun, laughing. But, that all was gone. There was no way that Miriam would ever be the same. No more laughing carefreely, no more secret smiles to Edward when they did something, and worst of all, no more Mother to say 'I love you, Sweet Amie.' Sure, Edward and William say 'I love you,' but that was different to say the least. They don't say 'Sweet Amie', yet if they did, Miriam would kick them, sadly though, that is unladylike.

One thing is clear though, Miriam truely hoped that the children at the house would not be as stuck-up as Mrs. Macready. Hopefully, the girls were logical enough, but nice. And, that the boys weren't a jerk. And, Miriam was going crazy to know if they were too 'cool' for school, something that Edward stated. All that they really care about is popularity and if they are 'cool' enough. Really, if they are in that type of kids, Miriam for sure wouldn't want to hang out with them.

Breaking through the forest, Miriam saw the house, rather mansion. That left her mouth hanging. It was quite old fashioned to say, and it was terribly big. Miriam totally would get lost in the first five seconds, shall she be alone.

"Now, we shall settle some house rules. No running, shouting, screaming, and touching the artifacts. Goodness, one of the Pevensies had touched one and nearly broke it!"

"Really?" asked William, the polite gentleman he was.

"Of course! And, above all the rules, no disturbing the professor!"

Miriam raised her hand for she felt as if they were sent to a boarding school. "Umm, I thought that the professor had sent us here so he could see us. Not hide away."

Mrs. Macready scoffed,"Really? Well, Miss. Aaronsons, you have much to learn."

They had come upon a hallway with doors lining the sides. "These rooms are the Pevensies, she gestured to two doors across from each other, and this is yours. Because there are only three of you, you will be in the same bedroom. Dinner is strictly at 6:30 P.M., breakfast at 8:00 A.M., and lunch at 12:34 P.M.. The Pevensies are in the library, down the hall, you shall greet them and get accustomed to them. I expect good behavior. Good day."

Mrs. Macready nodded good bye and hurried off to do who knows what.

"Okay..." stated Edward. "That was a lovely greeting, wasn't it, Miri?"

"Umm, yeah, right," she answered.

They opened the door and found two beds, a closet and a wardrobe, a desk and a window on both sides of the room.

"I call one bed!" she stated.

"Guess that we are sharing." William said warilly.

They tossed their stuff on the bed and went to the library.

"Gas-tro-vass-cular. Come on, Peter, Gastrovascular."

"Is it latin?"

"Latin for worst game ever invented?"

There was a tense silence that could have been felt in America. That was the time where William decided to knock politely on the door.

A tall boy opened the door. He was.13 or 14 and he had blonde hair, and blue eyes.

 "Yeah?" he asked.

" Oh! " this was for sure a little girl. "Your the ones who are the people staying. I'm Lucy Pevensie, this is Edmund, Susan, and that one over.there is Peter!"

Miriam hesitated. "Miriam, that is Edward and William. I am 10, Ed is 12 and William is 13. Pleasure."

Soon, Miriam could see Lucy, a brown haired girl with big brown eyes. Edmund was the one with dark hair and hazel eyes, pale skin. Susan had longish wavy brown hair and blue eyes. Peter was the blonde.

"I find it peculiar that Edmund and Edward have a similar name. don't you, Miriam?" asked Lucy.

"Ummmmmmmmmm...." Miriam honestly didn't know what to say. What did an eight year old want her to say?

"Don't bother her, Luce!" saved Miriam. "I'm Susan."

"Gastrovascular means serving for digestion. " (got that from the web!!!)

"Oh really?" muttered Peter baffled that a 10 year old girl could outsmart him.

"Can we play hide n'  seek? " demanded Lucy.

"But, we're already having So much fun," protested Peter sarcastically.

Susan shot him an evil look. If looks could kill, Peter would be a hundred feet underground.

Lucy have him puppy dog eyes. "Pleeeease??????" she whispered .

Peter sighed and said, "One, Two, Three..."

Susan and Edmund exchanged exasperated looks. So did Edward, William, and Miriam. Susan sighed and gestured that Miriam followed her. Miriam looked at her brothers like 'can I?' And they both nodded before leaving. The two girls ran out of the room and went into the kitchen, sitting there.

 "89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100!!!!"

"It's all right!! I am back! Don't worry!" the older girls looked at each other annoyed, and walked back slowly.

"I don't think you two get the game."

Peter, William , and Edward were there. Meaning that the 'two of you ' were Lucy and Edmund.

"Does.that mean that Miriam and I won? " asked Susan.

"No, Lucy found some hidden place in the wardrobe. One game at a time, Lu, not all of us have your imagination."

" But, it really was there, come on! "

Lucy led the seven of them to the room.

"Look!" exclaimed Lucy .

Susan and Edmund again exchanged looks before looking at the wardrobe.

"I'm sorry Lu, but the only wood I see is the back of the wardrobe."

" Well, I believe you! " said Edmund.

the Aaronsons siblings looked at each other, knowing that it wouldn't turn out good.

"You, do?" inquired Lucy, stuck between sure and unsure.

"Ya, didn't I tell you about the football field under the bathroom sink?"

"Edmund! " yelled Peter.

"Shut up, you think your dad, but you aren't! " Edmund stormed out of the room, and Susan snapped, "Well, that was nicely handled!" and she went off as well.

William and Edward turned to Miriam, "Let's."

" wait out, " she mumbled.

"But, it really was there!" cried Lucy.

" Susan's right, Lucy. That's enough.* Peter hurried out.

"Miriam?" asked Lucy.

" Hey, don't worry, they must be dumb to not believe you, 'cause I know that you wouldn't lie about that. Come on, let's get some chocolate. "

Lucy looked up with hopeful eyes, "Really?"

 " Ya, let's go. "

Lucy refused to go out of her room, claiming that she couldn't face them. !Miriam nodded understandably and they went to their room, but they were meet with something unexpected. Edmund was in their room. Looking at the family picture of them. That Miriam out on her dresser.

He spun around and a mask of shock came upon him. He dropped the picture, causing Miriam to scream, "Edmund!!!"

Immediately , the older Pevensies and Aaronsons ran in. Miriam was crying, stating at Edmund with an angry and frustrated expression.

"Wha -? Ed?"

" t-they are G-German spies! " he gasped. "You guys c-came to spy on us!"

An angry look came on William's face. "What!? No!"

" you have dark hair, and dark eyes! " Edmund accused.

"We need to tell Mother!" he cried.

Miriam suddenly saw her mother that night. She chocked on a sob.

Edward saw this and snarled, "Be glad you have a mother to look forward to. Come on Miriam."

Miriam cast an resentful look towards Edmund. Then, she followed her brothers out of their room.

In less then half an hour, the Pevensies lost the trust of the Aaronsons siblings.
