Chapter one
America stood on the balcony of the White house. His heart was racing, the nightmare he had still affecting him.
Thunder rolled off in the distance, holding the promise of rain. But America didn't see the lightning.
He saw a mushroom cloud rising higher over his country.
He didn't hear the thunder, he hear the sonic boom of the blast.
The rain the was coming was the fallout that would kill him.
Last week Germany had announced he had a Hydrogen bomb, and France the same the next day.
America was getting nervous. While neither of them had actually stated any threat to him directly, they did say that the bombs could reach as far as middle North America.
America had scheduled a meeting the next day with China and Russia. It hadn't actually been his idea, as Russia had actually contacted America and encouraged him to make this meeting. America was under the impression that Russia wanted to talk about the situation at hand.
America turned back to the door and twisted the handle. His mind cluttered with thoughts, he got dressed for the day.
America's day went by slow, paperwork practically drowning the blond.
Towards 7 PM America got a phone call.
"Pryvet America. I got here early and I was wondering if I could stop by and fill you in." Russia said without waiting for America to even say hello.
"Uhm, yeah sure. I guess you already know my address?" There was a click on the other end as Russia hung up without answering.
America stared at his phone for a moment, shook his head and walked downstairs to wait for Russia.
He didn't wait for very long however, as Russia ended up arriving only five minutes after he called.
"Dude, you are seriously freaking me out with all this." America said as Russia entered his house.
"I don't think you need me to 'freak you out' in this situation."
America folded his arms across his chest, "What exactly did you want to talk about? You haven't really told me anything."
Russia gestured for America to sit, as he had already done so.
Damn commie, coming into my house and acting all high and mighty. America was nervous, the situation wasn't settling in his stomach and he didn't need Russia to rub it in.
America stayed standing.
Russia shrugged, "Suit yourself." Without hesitation, Russia began explaining his plan.
"China already knows about this, and is uneasy, but will go along with it." America narrowed his eyes. If China was uneasy, it was probably dangerous.
"It's no secret the you and I have the most, uh, weapons, da? China may not have as many, but is valuable in trade."
America nodded slowly.
"Maybe it's time we start to," Russia searched for the right word, "Remind- so to speak- who is boss?"
"What're you implying Ruski?"
"Nothing big, maybe a light show?"
America leaned against the wall.
A light show?
"That could pretty much blow up in our faces, someone may feel threatened and fire themselves." America countered.
"They will fire any way. It only matters if we sit and wait, or if we make first move."
America moved to sit now, "Are you proposing an alliance?"
Russia grinned, slightly sadistic as usual, but it told America his answer.
He scoffed, "Our alliance in itself will make them feel threatened."
"Good."
America leaned forward, holding Russia's gaze. "If this fails, I'm blaming you."
Russia shrugged, "Is expected. Will you do it?"
"If this turns to war completely, can I trust you?"
"Oh Amerika, there is one thing I'm not, and that's a traitor." Russia assured, in a not so reassuring tone.
America flopped back against the couch.
Can't risk my country on grudges. War at this point is inevitable, might as well figure out who my allies are.
"Alright. I'll do it." America sighed.
Russia smiled, and stuck out his hand. America hesitantly took it and they shook on the alliance.
"Great, we will discuss more tomorrow, da?" Russia stood up, practically bringing America with him.
"Yeah, sure. Whatever you wanna do." America said, rubbing his eyes.
"Then I will see you tomorrow!" Russia turned and headed to the door. America stood and followed. Before Russia left though, he turned to face America once more. "This will work. Europe is cowardly. They will never win with us working together." With that he left, leaving America staring after him with thousands of questions and not a single answer.
---------------------
America took slow strides through the hall towards the conference room. In front of him was China and a few paces behind him was Russia.
China glanced back at him, "Nervous, aru?"
America looked up, "Kinda. Mostly on how they respond."
"Do not worry, Amerika." Russia set a hand on the American's shoulder, "It will go well."
The week before was the official date of their alliance, which they deemed the Black Triangle. A week before then was when they had first met to discuss Russia's plan. They also discussed the terms of their alliance.
America had this feeling that he couldn't shake though, that something was going to go very wrong.
Russia seemed confident though.
They stopped at the doors that would lead them into the world meeting.
Today they would be making it official to the world, that what ever Europe threw at them, they weren't alone anymore.
China glanced at Russia and America. "Are you ready?"
America gave a firm nod.
In the past two weeks he had talked a lot more with the older countries, and he knew that this alliance would benefit him, he just wasn't sure about the others.
China pushed the door open and the three stepped inside. Clearly the world wasn't prepared to see them together, and not arguing.
The three calmly walked to their seats, or at least, America hoped he looked as calm as Russia and China. Inside, he felt like puking.
America was always placed in between England and Germany. Why? He had no clue. Probably to keep an eye on him. Today he felt uncomfortable with the arrangement, seeing as England was glaring daggers at him.
Stay strong, and smile damn it!
America forced a smile to his face as he took his seat. "Sorry we are so late dudes!"
Germany shook his head at him, and that's when America noticed that Germany had shifted a little ways a way from him.
While America and Germany didn't have a super strong bond, America didn't think Germany hated him that much.
America looked across the table and met Russia gaze. Surprisingly he was reassured by the look in it. He found China, who nodded at him.
America took a deep breath. Earlier they had agreed America would be the best to announce their alliance, simply because of his presence.
Overbearing and loud.
America flinched. He could practically hear it in England's voice.
Several minutes went on, Germany talked, France talked. Sweden and Finland at one point said a few things, but America wasn't paying attention.
Finally Germany stood back up, "Is there anyone else who has something to say?"
Here we go. "Yes, actually. I have something to say." The few murmurs that had begun around the room stopped in an instant hush.
America stood up, slow and deliberate. All eyes were on him.
The tension could be cut with a knife.
He locked eyes with Russia again, and then with China.
Finally he took a deep breath and began.
"In precaution to some rising tensions in Europe, I am now apart of an alliance. This alliance has asked me to speak on our behalf to remain neutral in any future conflict."
England interrupted America before he could continue. "Before you go around accusing things, why don't you tell us about your alliance."
America honestly felt a snicker rise into the back of his throat.
"The name of my alliance is the Black Triangle. And its members are me, China, and Russia."
