This work is a study page of an artist called Craig Stephens, he uses normal objects and paints them — not the object itself, I mean paint it onto a canvas/paper.

As you can see, the  page isn't A-Level standard, so I will not be using it.

This section of text is even peeling off. Obviously, if I was to actually use this page I'd stick it down again.

On the right is the reference image.

On the left here is my piece. It's actually not the worst painting in the word, especially the top half, but the background is way off, it's terrible.
I actually learned that when doing things like this you set down a really diluted layer of acrylic of that colour. Diluted means weak and light, almost like a water colour.
So, for example: The pipe is red, I watered down red acrylic so it was barely visible and painted it lightly onto were the red would be on the image. This helps get a base, and helps to make it less scary to actually start the piece.
