A LETTER FOR YOU...
A U T H O R ' S N O T E
I wrote this when I was in sixth grade and I chose to publish this just as it is. So please pardon me for the immature sentences.
Important note at the end of the story.
---
Dear Jack,
It has been a long time since the day we met. I remember seeing you walk through the hallway with your mum and dad. You were wearing a black square checked violet shirt with both the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans and a big smile. -Staring is rude- I scolded myself, but wasn't able to take my eyes off you. My heart skipped a beat when you sat right next to me, as that was the only seat empty. And then your parents left.
"Hi" you said and smiled at me ; and I was no more knowing where I was.
"Hi" I smiled, looking back at your face. Your eyes were green-grey, you brown hair fell over your forehead.
"I'm Jack, Jack Roberts" you said.
"Emily Wilson" and we shook hands.
And in no time you started a conversation with me. From favorite color to what not.
You told that you draw, play guitar and are a straight A student.
I told you that I love chocolates and cake, own a guitar, love to read and am the number one nerd of my class.
You shared your granola bar with me as you somehow figured out I was terribly hungry.
And five minutes before your parents arrived, You took me by surprise and hugged me.
The first hug a boy has ever given me and said, "Maybe this a goodbye then."
I didn't want to say goodbye. I wanted you to stay. We could talk like this forever.
You suddenly seemed to remember something. You reached your pocket and pulled something out of it. You showed me two blue stones. "they are my grandma's. She said to give one of them to the most precious person I've ever met. Hope this will remind you of me."
I took it.
Maybe meeting you on 23rd July was the first and last time. But maybe forever for everyone is not meant by staying together for eternity. Maybe for me, it was just the memories that could stay forever.
So Jack, if you're reading this, please know that I still love you and even though we stay so far away and don't know each other's addresses, my heart will always be close to you, forever.
Love,
Emily
