Sekt finally opened the hood of his brown cloak when the ship finally left the dock of Tara far enough.
The ship's crew around him looked so busy doing the captain's order. They pulled the plank, tightened the ropes, brushed the deck from dirt and rolled the barrels of water to the lower deck.
As passenger, like some other people on this deck, Sekt didn't need to do anything.
He had paid enough for this trip and Sekt planned to just enjoy the view, though the only thing he could see for weeks later was the blue sea.
He walked to the edge of the ship and placed both his elbows on the banister.
He propped his chin with one hand while the other was busy tapping the smooth shining wood. After a while just looking the life at the palace, this place was magnificent.
The ship sailed further in minutes and The City of Light became smaller.
Sekt didn't mind leaving the city but he felt guilty for leaving without saying anything to Kegan or Gemma. Not even Raye.
Well, the joy for facing the journey was bigger than the guilt. It didn't make what he did right. Especially... They were his mates for years.
The friends he never had before. The friends he never expected to get.
But Sekt didn't like the moment filled with hugs and tears.
Well, Kegan and Raye wouldn't cry but Gemma would.
That woman probably would wet the whole floor with her tears.
It wasn't really her style but the beginning of her pregnancy had made her super sensitive recently.
Besides, it didn't mean he would never see them again.
He would. He just didn't know when they'd meet again.
One year..
Two year..
Probably a decade after some wrinkles were added to their faces.
Shoving his mind from his friends in Tara, Sekt tried to think about his destination.
He hadn't thought about it before. The only thing on his mind before was how he could leave without being noticed.
It's hard for him to go anywhere around Tara lately. Especially after Kegan announced him as the person who had helped the most during the war.
It seemed like everyone in Tara now knew him.
Sekt was thinking to visit his friend, Kiera, in Veron. The last news he received from the blonde was Arnev, her cousin, still had no courage to propose Lena and King Nauta complained about the aches on his back again.
Before he could make up his mind, he quickly cancelled it.
Visiting Kiera meant a long lecture about him leaving Tara without words. Then he was sure the first thing she would do must be writing a letter to Kegan to tell him that Sekt was in Veron.
No. No.
Probably Veron was not a good option for now.
No matter how Kiera told him about how delicious the seafood in her place was and how many pearls the kingdom could produce in one year.
Sekt blinked his eyes and realized that Tara really had gone from his sight.
He didn't know he drowned too deep with his thoughts.
Sekt lifted up his chin from his hand then took off the cloak from his shoulders.
It revealed the purple shirt he used and the curved sword on his back. His lovely katana.
A pair of daggers tied on his legs, above his brown pants.
He folded the cloak recklessly and shoved it inside his rucksack.
Inside it, beside the cloak now, Sekt still had another pair of clean clothes and a fat pocket of money.
Except those things, Sekt didn't brought anything else. He left the other things Kegan gave him in Tara. The only thing he thought valuable was a pair of boots he was wearing right now.
Sekt was closing his rucksack when he noticed someone had stood near him.
"Lord Sekt!!! You're Lord Sekt, right?"
Sekt cursed inside his heart. He suddenly regretted his decision to open the cloak.
And he hated it to be called 'Lord'. Another gift Kegan gave him as reward was title and indirectly placed him among the royalty.
But no one really called him with 'Lord' before and that pissed him off.
Arching one of his eyebrows, Sekt saw a young man on his left side. He looked at him with a happiness on his eyes.
From Sekt's point of view, it was weird an rude to stare people like that.
"Who did you call 'Lord'?" Sekt said flatly, tried his best to hide his agitation.
The young man tilted his head as his expression was changing to confusion.
"But you are--"
"No. I'm just Sekt. Without Lord." Sekt interrupted.
The man didn't say anything for a while before he opened his mouth again.
"So, I can't call you-"
"No." Sekt quickly cut his words again. "Just Sekt."
He tried to guess how old the teenager was. Probably eighteen or nineteen. He couldn't be more than that.
"Oh, okay." He said. "Where are you going then? Did King Kegan send you to a mission?"
"Something like that." Sekt answered. "If I tell you about it, I have to kill you."
The young man cringed a bit hearing the words.
"Uh... well, no need to tell me then but I do need your destination. Papa needs everyone's actually. So we know where we have to stop first." He said, pointed an old man near the other side of the deck.
He was struggling with some parchment on his hands.
"Hmm.. So, which kingdom is the most popular so far?" Sekt asked.
The man glanced to his left a bit while he's counting inside his head.
"Uh...two voices for Nuadha, four for Devoss and five for Kamal."
Sekt narrowed his eyes as he thought about Kamal, the City of Meadow.
That was the place where he was born.
He wondered when the last time he saw the hills of grass and the sparkling water on the river of Kamal.
Should he start from there?
Maybe that wasn't a bad idea.
"So?" the man asked, demanded for an answer.
Sekt smirked a bit before he shrugged his shoulders.
"Then Kamal it is."
