Leaving
"OUCH! My foot! Wait this might be good to take just in case I need to hit something."
Libby was packing for her escape. She was leaving Vietnam because her Mama told her it was to dangerous too stay here with all the crime.
She had nothing to put her things in so she got the blanket she was taking and put everything on it. A dingy, a paddle, her baseball (which she dropped on her foot just before), a pillow and her blanket of cause. Once everything was on the blanket, she got her paddle (which was only a plank of wood), and wrapped the blanket with all her things in it, around the wood. Libby picked it up and made sure it was stable and then went out too Mama.
"Mama? Mama? Mama? I'm going in a minute!"
"Sorry Libby. I just got a little caught up in work. You can't go yet. You don't have any food."
"I'll stop at the shops to get some. I'm ready to do this Mama."
"You can't just stop at the shops and buy food. WE'RE POOR LIBBY!"
"Fine" said Libby as she dropped her things on the floor and slid into a chair.
"I'm leaving for work alright."
"Ok."
"Give me a hug now."
Libby walked over and hugged her lathe hardest she ever had as she wasn't going to be able to hug her again. Mama worked at a sewing factory. Libby wanted to work there but Mama didn't let her.
When Mama left, Libby started writing a note.
"Dear Mama,
I know you told me to stay home and to not leave, but I decided I will leave. I don't want to but you wanted me to stay away from all the bad things that happen in Vietnam. I'm going to ride my dingy to Titop island. It's so beautiful.
I will go to the zoo and take some meat for food.
I love you so much and I'm sorry for doing this but you know it's the best thing to do. I will never forget you. I have a picture of you that I will keep forever. Thank you for being the best Mama I could ever ask for.
With all the love in the world,
Libby"
