University life had brought many changes—new schedules, new challenges, and a lot of questionable cafeteria food. But one thing remained constant: the legendary chaos that was Arsh Singhania and Avika Sinha.

And today was their day. Their one-year anniversary.

The problem?

Nobody had remembered.

Not even Avika.

"Avika, You Had One Job."

"You forgot your anniversary?" Shrishti gasped, nearly dropping her coffee.

Avika groaned, rubbing her temples. “It’s not a big deal—”

“Not a big deal?” Rudra snorted. “Singhania literally wrote today’s date on his cricket bat! In red ink!”

Avika frowned. “He what?”

“Yeah,” Shrishti nodded. “He even made the entire cricket team rehearse ‘Happy Anniversary, Sinha’ like it’s a national anthem.”

Avika stared at them. “Okay, he needs help.”

“No, you need help,” Shrishti deadpanned. “How do you forget your anniversary when you have a brain the size of a supercomputer?”

Avika groaned, slamming her head onto the table. “I had too much going on! Assignments, Mystic Mudras practice, and some idiot in my class spilled coffee on my notebook this morning—”

“Ohhh,” Rudra smirked. “That’s why you were about to murder that poor guy.”

Avika huffed. “He deserved it.”

Shrishti clapped her hands. “Okay, forget that. Focus. Damage control.”

Avika sat up. “I could just… surprise him? Take him somewhere nice?”

Rudra grinned. “Or you could just seduce him—”

Shrishti smacked his arm. “Rudra!”

“What?” He shrugged. “It’s an easy way out.”

Avika glared. “I am not seducing him out of guilt!”

Shrishti sighed. “Well, you better think fast because I just got a message from Arsh. He’s on his way here.”

Avika froze. “…I’m dead.”

---

Operation "Make Arsh Forget I Forgot"

Five minutes later, Arsh strolled into the café, looking way too smug.

Avika immediately jumped up, pasting on her best I’m-a-perfect-girlfriend smile. “Arsh!!My love! My darling—”

Arsh narrowed his eyes. “You forgot, didn’t you?”

Avika gasped dramatically. “How dare you accuse me—”

Arsh folded his arms. “Avika”

“…Fine,” she muttered. “I forgot.”

Shrishti buried her face in her hands. “God, she’s hopeless.”

Rudra whispered, “This is painful to watch.”

Arsh sighed, shaking his head. “Wow. My own girlfriend forgot our anniversary.”

Avika winced. “Look, I swear I’ll make it up to you—”

Arsh smirked. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

Avika narrowed her eyes. “And you’re lucky I love you.”

Rudra clutched his chest. “Ugh, I hate how cute this is.”

Shrishti nodded. “It’s disgusting.”

---

Somehow, Avika convinced Arsh that their “make-up date” should include their entire friend group.

Big mistake.

They arrived at a fancy rooftop restaurant, fairy lights twinkling, soft music playing. Everything was perfect—until their friends ruined it.

“Why are we even here?” Rudra asked, stealing a piece of garlic bread from Arsh’s plate.

Arsh smacked his hand away. “Because someone forgot our anniversary and decided to turn our romantic dinner into a group hangout.”

Avika smiled sweetly. “You love me, though.”

Arsh sighed. “Yeah, yeah.”

Shrishti leaned in. “So… when’s the wedding?”

Avika choked on her drink. “Excuse me?!”

Rudra grinned. “Oh, come on. You two are basically an old married couple.”

“Yeah,” Shrishti nodded. “You argue all the time, you steal each other’s food, and you practically live in each other’s personal space.”

Avika groaned. “We’ve only been together one year.”

Arsh, looking entirely too smug, leaned back in his chair. “I mean, they’re not wrong.”

Avika shot him a look. “Don’t you start.”

Rudra grinned. “Okay, fine. No wedding talk. But tell us—who confessed first?”

The table fell silent.

Arsh and Avika exchanged glances.

Rudra frowned. “Wait… did anyone confess first?”

Shrishti gasped. “Oh my god. Did you two just start dating without a confession?!”

Arsh shrugged. “I think it just… happened?”

Avika nodded. “One second, we were academic rivals. Next second, we were making out in a library. No confession needed.”

Rudra groaned. “You guys suck.”

Shrishti sighed. “You really do.”

---

After dinner, the group wandered through the empty streets, the cool night air wrapping around them. Shrishti and Rudra were playfully arguing about something stupid (probably who ate more dessert), while Arsh and Avika walked slightly ahead, lost in their own world.

“You still mad that I forgot?” Avika asked, nudging Arsh’s arm.

He glanced at her, a slow smirk tugging at his lips. “No. But I’m enjoying the guilt trip.”

She rolled her eyes. “Unbelievable.”

They strolled in silence for a while, their hands brushing occasionally but never fully intertwining. The city lights flickered in the distance, and for once, there was no teasing, no competition—just quiet.

Avika let out a deep sigh. “I still can’t believe it’s been a year.”

Arsh hummed. “Feels like a lifetime.”

She turned to him. “Wow. So romantic.”

He smirked. “You love me for it.”

She scoffed but didn’t deny it.

They reached an old stone bridge overlooking the river, the moonlight reflecting off the water. Avika leaned on the railing, staring at the shimmering waves. “Where do you think we’ll be in five years?”

Arsh didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. “You’re always overthinking, Sharma.”

She smiled. “It’s called planning ahead.”

He leaned against the railing beside her. “Fine. In five years, I’ll probably be playing cricket professionally.”

“And me?”

He glanced at her, his expression softening. “Probably handling million-dollar business deals and still arguing with me about 0.5 marks.”

Avika chuckled. “Sounds about right.”

A comfortable silence stretched between them before Arsh spoke again, voice quieter this time. “But no matter what happens, I know one thing.”

She looked at him. “What?”

His fingers brushed against hers on the railing. “You’ll still be mine.”

Avika’s breath hitched.

The words were so simple, yet they sent her heart into chaos.

She turned fully toward him, their faces inches apart. “Confident, aren’t you?”

Arsh smirked. “Always.”

She studied him for a moment—his tousled hair, the way his lips twitched like he was holding back a cocky remark, the warmth in his gaze that he didn’t bother hiding anymore.

And just like that, she was gone.

She grabbed his collar and pulled him into a kiss—one that stole the air right from his lungs.

Arsh stumbled slightly but recovered quickly, his hands gripping her waist, pulling her closer. The world blurred, the sounds of their friends’ distant laughter fading into the background.

When they finally pulled apart, Avika rested her forehead against his.

“Forgetting our anniversary was worth it if I get this,” she whispered, grinning.

Arsh chuckled. “Sharma, you are unbelievable.”

She winked. “And you love it.”

He sighed, shaking his head. “Yeah. I really do.”

Behind them, Rudra groaned loudly. “Again?! Can you two stop making out in public?!”

Shrishti laughed. “Nope, let them be. They deserve it.”

Rudra muttered, “I need new friends.”

Arsh and Avika ignored them.

Because in that moment, nothing else mattered.

Not rankings, not rivalry—just them.

And for once, there was no competition.

They had already won.

The End.

Author’s Note

And that’s a wrap!

I can’t believe this journey is finally over. What started as a fierce rivalry between Arsh and Avika turned into something so much deeper—love, friendship, and an endless string of hilarious arguments. Writing their story has been an absolute rollercoaster, and I hope you all enjoyed every moment as much as I did!

Arsh, with his cocky smirks, undeniable charm, and hidden emotional depth, was a character I loved exploring. And Avika—strong, ambitious, and an unstoppable force—was the perfect match for him. Their banter, their stolen moments, their stubborn fights… everything about them made this story so much fun to write.

To all the readers who stuck around till the very end—thank you. Your love and support mean the world to me. Every comment, message, and reaction kept me going, and I truly appreciate every single one of you.

And of course, to my lovely chaotic couple—Arsh and Avika—you may have started as rivals, but in the end, you both won something far more precious: each other.
