Chapter 6
~AYAME'S POV~
[cabin]
I wake up in my bed, alone, pouting at the reality. Sighing, I get up and take a nice shower. Finished drying off, I keep the towel around me as I pick some clothes out. Before I could even go for the shoes, my phone rings.
"Hello?" I answer.
"Good morning, Angel." I hear Edward's voice.
"Edward!" I squeal excited, which made him laugh. "Did you get to the Denali's safe?"
"I did. I just arrived less than 5 hours ago. I wanted to make sure I beat your alarm." He confirms.
"Ayame!" I hear Tanya sing happily into the background.
"TT!" I sing back.
"Oh, my angel." Tanya spoke clearer.
"Hey, give me back my fiancé." Edward replied, sounding angry. Then I hear a smack and a yelp.
"You can talk to her when I am done." Tanya scolds him. I giggle as Edward argues with her. I can remember the last time that Edward was fighting with Tanya about spending more time with me. Thankfully Kate stepped in and gave them both a shock. Snapped them out of it rather quickly.
"Tanya, I will always enjoy talking to you, but is it alright if I finish my talk with my fiancé, so I can have some peace of mind." I request.
Tanya sighs sad, "Oh, alright. I hate that I have to share you." She grumbles.
"Don't break him, Tanya." I beg her, "I need him."
Tanya laughs, "I won't, Angel. But tell me, how does it feel to be engaged?"
"Let me just say, it feels like I'm in Nirvana." I answer.
We kept on talking, much to Edward's protest. But I couldn't help but think what could happen today.
~time skip~
While getting dressed, I still had Edward on the phone. We talked about what we could do once he gets back, but what startled me was a knock at the door.
"That's probably Alice. I hate to go, my love." I say putting the phone to my ear.
"I feel the same way, Ayame. Text me when you get to school?" Edward replies.
"I will." I confirm, "I have to go. Goodbye, my love."
"Goodbye, my love." He repeats as we hang up.
Putting my phone into my back pocket, I smile as I go to the door and open it revealing a smiling Alice.
"Ready?" She asks. I nod.
"Good." She says taking my wrist.
Once I locked the door, we walk to the garage. Rosie and Jasper greet me with a hug before going to their cars. Jasper happily opens my door for me, I climb into the back seat of the Jeep. Setting my bag down, Jasper and Alice were soon up front as Jasper starts the engine.
Ever since my accident, my siblings understood that I was unable to drive at the moment. They were more than happy to give me a ride anywhere.
There will be a day where I get the courage to drive myself, but that day is not coming any time soon. As I glance at the scenery around us as Jasper drove, I couldn't help but think back to my previous thoughts.
"Hey, Jasper?" I spoke.
"Yes." He hums.
"You don't think the new girl will be looking for us when we get there, do you?" I ask nervous.
Jasper doesn't answer, but growls. His hands grip the steering wheel tighter.
"Annoying pest." He swears, "Her unneeded presence caused Edward to have to leave. He should be here, not her."
"Jasper." I spoke, which made him twitch. Breathing in, I made sure that my gift was inactive. "She was born here, her father is the Chief of Police. She does have the right to be here."
"But she doesn't have the right to be near you or Edward." He argues.
"I know. That's why I wonder if she will be looking for us? For me?" I ask, whispering the last part out of fear.
"I don't know. Alice?" Jasper answers, then looks at Alice.
"I haven't seen anything. She hasn't caused any visions, nor have I had any. But I can tell she is a curious human. Who knows." Alice adds.
~THIRD POV~
When Bella got to school, she noticed that the Cullen's hadn't arrived yet. Leaning against her truck, she pretended to read a book in her hand as she had her earbuds in. But she wasn't really reading.
"I plan to confront him and demand to know what his problem is. Why he acted like that way when he doesn't even know me." Bella thought keeping her eyes moving around so she didn't draw suspicion.
Her attention was soon drawn as two fancy cars pull into the lot. The Cullen's have arrived, but.. no Edward. Ayame was the only one of two Cullen's Bella was looking for. Bella attempted to get Ayame's attention, but she didn't spare her a glance. Jasper and Rosalie shot Bella a glare as they led their sister towards the school.
"But he never showed. Ayame wouldn't even look at me." Bella dropped her shoulders in sadness.
[BIOLOGY]
As Bella walked into class, she noticed Ayame's table. Yet again, no Edward. She frowns when she noticed Ayame looking at Edward's empty chair, sad. It was obvious that Ayame missed Edward, and Bella wanted nothing more than to comfort her.
"Miss Swan." Mr. Molina spoke, gaining Bella's attention. "Since Mr. Cullen is absent, do you mind sitting in his seat till he returns?"
"Yeah, sure." Bella agreed hastily, her heartbeat had sped up.
Ayame shot her head over and glared at Bella for agreeing, and for agreeing so quickly. To take Edward's seat. If anyone else had paid attention, they could hear how desperate she sounded when she agreed. When Bella walked over and sat in the seat, she didn't notice Ayame was glaring at her the whole time. But Ayame stopped glaring and turns to the front of class as the bell rings.
Once class finished, Ayame rushed out of school and runs to Jasper, who sensed her emotions. He frowns at how upset she is, but didn't stop her from hugging him. Using his gift, Ayame felt it working.
"Oh, my little siren, what's wrong?" Jasper asks, while rubbing her back.
"Bella took Edward's seat in Biology. Mr. Molina was so happy to let her move and she didn't even hesitate to accept. She sounded so desperate, I nearly hurled. And worst of all, she kept wanting to talk to me." Ayame exclaims, unable to control her tears.
Her anxiety was overcoming her, and Bella was the cause. Thankfully, Jasper kept using his gift to help. He didn't stop rubbing her back and didn't care that her tears were soaking into his shirt.
"What did she want to talk about?" Jasper asks.
"She wants to know more about me." Ayame pulled away and wipes her tears, "She kept talking my ear off, I had to keep my brain occupied so I didn't snap and say something rude to her. I felt so angry."
"Angry about what?" Emmett asks, suddenly appearing by the cars.
"Jeez. Do you really have to scare me?" Ayame asks, startled.
"Sorry Lil sis. Forgot. So, how mad did you get?" Emmett says, teasing her.
"You know Hulk from Marvel?" Jasper asks him. Emmett nods, having the image in his head.
"Ayame felt worse." Jasper states deadpanned, Emmett's eyes widen as Ayame hid in Jasper's chest.
"Wow. Who would have thought?" Emmett says stunned.
"Thought what?" Rosalie asks joining them.
"Ayame was angry." Emmett states.
"What? Why?" Alice asks.
"Bella." Jasper answers.
Rosalie growls hearing that.
"I need to get away. She's too much right now. I want to get away from here." Ayame says, muffled by Jasper's chest.
"How about a girls' night?" Alice suggests.
"Girls' night?" Ayame repeats.
"Yeah. We go shopping, do our nails, movies... you name it." Alice lists off.
"As long as we get your mind off of Bella, that's all that matters." Rosalie replies.
"I'd like that." Ayame says, cheering up.
Her siblings smile happy that Ayame was feeling better. But Alice's smile turned frown when she looked behind Ayame. Bella was waving at them, but really Ayame. Ayame hid her face back in Jasper's chest as Alice blocked her from view. Jasper quickly picks Ayame up bridal style and placed her in the Jeep. Bella had overheard them talking, wanted to tag along. But as the Cullen's left, she lost her chance. Not that Bella had one anyway.
Alice and Rosalie happily showed Ayame through Victoria Secret and PINK, helping her get new undergarments that fit her better. Finishing their shopping spree, Rosalie surprised Ayame with cotton candy 'Dippin Dots'. A type of ice cream you can get at shopping malls that is new and popular.
Not wanting to be alone, the three of them happily had fun in Ayame's living room until she fell asleep.
~WEDNESDAY~
Two days since Edward has been gone. This day was just the same as the day before. Bella has tried to talk to Ayame, but she would only be ignored. When Bella didn't try talking, she would end up staring at the Cullen's.
"She's still staring." Ayame whispers into Alice's ear as she sat on her lap.
"Well, don't look silly." Alice teased her then pecks her cheek.
"It's not like I want to, believe me. I don't even need to look to know she is. It's annoying and freaking me out." Ayame said, leaning her head into Alice's neck.
"When she gives the word. I will be the one to kill her." Emmett stated, not appreciating his little sister being tormented by this bitch.
"And have her taken away by the wolves. Do you want her to get imprinted on and forced to stay away from us?" Rosalie scolds her mate.
"Please don't! I don't want to!" Ayame softly shouts, as tears threatened to fall.
Alice rubs her back and Jasper soothed her. When the Cullen's first returned, Carlisle wanted to help Ayame hide her scent so the wolves wouldn't notice her. But sadly, when she went on a hunt with Carlisle and Esme, they were caught. The Elders were suspicious of Ayame, but Carlisle assured them that she was no danger to anyone. They took his word, but warned them all that is they violated the treaty in any way, they would take Ayame away and have a see if any new shifters imprint on her. That way she would be forced to stay on the Reservation and not allowed to see the Cullen's ever again.
Just even thinking back to that day made Ayame fear the wolves, or anyone on the Res. Anyone could have the gene. And being forced to have someone love her, that would be more torturous for her than not having Edward around. Edward would seriously be furious to know that someone took his fiancé away from him. After all, since she is half vampire, their kinds seriously hate each other.
"As much as I want to, I won't risk losing my little sis. We won't them touch a hair on your head." Emmett says comforting. Ayame lifted her head from Alice's chest, and placed a hand on Emmett's.
"I know. Thank you, big brother." Ayame spoke to him mentally. Emmett smiled hearing her say that to him.
At school, Ayame found that she could just touch their skin to talk to them, not just specifically on their cheek. Not wanting to risk anyone noticing, Ayame would discreetly touch their hand or shoulder.
"Maybe we could talk to her father and get him to make her stop. If it comes down to it." Ayame suggests.
"That's a great thought, Lil' Siren." Jasper replies, Ayame blushes, hiding her face against Alice.
~THURSDAY~
Thursday was just another day of the week, but still like the other days before it. But, Bella didn't try to talk to Ayame, for once. Instead, she just kept staring at the Cullen's.
~FRIDAY~
On Friday, Ayame was happy. Just one more day till Edward returns. The entire week, Ayame had texted Edward which made her feel like he was right beside her. When he would ask her about her day, Ayame neglected to tell him about Bella's stalker moments. She didn't want to worry him since he was focusing on his thirst. Thankfully, when Edward tried to talk to his siblings, they didn't tell him either. Per Ayame's request.
Ayame woke up happy, Friday was finally here. But it sadly wasn't going to be like the other days of the week. But Ayame didn't feel it because a text from her best friends made her feel better.
Hey Ayame! Wish we could be there, but guess what? We just arrived in Michigan! The lakes are beautiful, we recommend Edward and your family to visit here sometime. Got a text from him about the bitch Bella. If we find out she's hurting you in anyway, we'll tear her apart. We'll try to visit soon.
We love you, always!
~L&R
After Bio, Ayame went to the bathroom. When she was done, she flinched when Bella walked in. Ayame never met her eyes, and tried to leave. She could feel her anxiety wanting to act up, but before she could reach the door, Bella had grabbed her wrist.
"Let me go!" Ayame exclaimed, trying to get her wrist back.
"I just want to talk." Bella replies, pleading.
"Well, I don't want to talk. Not to you, anyway. Now let go!" Ayame exclaimed, sad, still trying to pull her wrist free.
But instead of her wrist being free, Bella just pulls Ayame closer. Before Ayame could question her, Bella hooked her hand behind Ayame's neck and pulled her in for a kiss. But to Ayame, it was full of force. Ayame's eyes widen from shock, as Bella tried to make out with her. Feeling her tears building up, Ayame felt her vampire side coming out. Using her strength, Ayame pushed Bella off and a good 7 feet away from her. Bella was ecstatic from the kiss, feeling a spark, but when she saw Ayame, she was concerned.
Ayame was stunned, frightened. Her lips quivered, unable to speak. Able to overcome her stun, Ayame took the chance to run away. Pushing the doors open, Ayame couldn't control her tears. Spotting Emmett in the parking lot, she didn't hesitate to jump into his arms, her tears finally falling. Her heart breaking.
"Whoa, what's wrong?" Emmett asks both shocked from her sudden appearance, and shock of her state.
"Bella." Ayame mutters, hating to still be thinking about it.
"What about her?" Jasper asks.
"S-She... Sh-she... she k-kissed me!" Ayame exclaimed, feeling broken on the inside.
Her siblings eyes widen. Controlling their anger, they all hug her the best they could since Emmett practically had her hidden within his arms. Jasper then let out a growl. Alice and Rosalie look at him, then followed his gaze. Looking back at the school, they see Bella walked out of the doors and froze at their stares. Full of rage and hatred. Emmett wanted to get Ayame away.
Picking Ayame up bridal style, he placed her in the Jeep. Jasper and Alice got in and sped off, Rosalie and Emmett soon followed. As Bella watched them leave, she knew from their stares that she was screwed.
Once they were home, Alice stopped her siblings when Ayame got out of the Jeep and made a run for it to the cabin. Alice quickly picked up her phone and dialed Edward. After the second ring, he picks up.
"Hey, Alice. I just finished a hunt. What's up?" Edward asks.
"Call Ayame immediately after we hang up." Alice stated.
"Why? Something wrong?" Edward asks, needing answers.
"Just do it!" Alice exclaimed.
Edward immediately hung up and dials Ayame.
~AYAME'S POV~
Sitting in the cabin, I was stuck sitting with my back leaning against the front of the couch. When I first got here, I had collapsed before making it onto the couch. Feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket, I take it out and see it was Edward.
"Hello." I answer, my voice was broken.
"Ayame." Edward's voice sounded relieved, but still full of concern. "What's wrong?"
Instead of answering at first, I couldn't help but let more tears fall, along with letting a whimper come out.
"Ayame, beautiful, please talk to me. What's wrong?" Edward asks once more.
"I.. I did something horrible." I say, trying not to stutter.
"What do you mean?" He asks, confused.
"I think- I think I cheated on you!" I cry out, tears running down my cheeks.
"What?! You could never do that. Why would you think you cheated?" Edward comforts me, reassuring me I did nothing wrong.
"It's Bella." I tell him, lowly.
"What did Bella do?" He asks, anger filled his voice.
"She kissed me! Bella forced me into a kiss." I whimpered, afraid of how he would react.
I could hear Edward snarl, turning into a growl. I knew what that anger meant, he wants to kill her for touching me.
"Do you hate me?" I whisper.
"No, no, babygirl. Listen to me, I could never hate you. Never. I'm just angry at Bella. I hate her, in fact. She knew that we were together, but she still-" He paused, I waited. "She didn't think before acting."
Sniffling, I could barely breath. The bond's pain was starting to come back.
"Edward.. the pain. I need you. Please come back to me. I don't want to be alone. The pain hasn't been this horrible. My anxiety is making it worse. Please, come back to me! I can't take it!" I plead to him, practically begging.
"I was already planning on coming back tonight. Surprise you in the morning, in fact. I'm already packing and getting into the car. Just remember to breathe." Edward replies, I could hear the wind within the background. "I'll be there soon."
"Okay." I say as he started the engine.
"I'm about to lose you. I'll be there soon, my love." I hear Edward's voice before it began to break up.
Sadly, the call drops before I could reply. I took a deep breath as I repeat his words. He was coming home.
He was coming back to me.
Wiping my tears, I used all the strength I had and climbed up onto the couch. I curled up with my favorite pillow and clutched it to my chest. Tapping the remote, the TV turns on and I click on Vampire Diaries.
Closing my eyes, I listen to the show without realizing I had fallen asleep.
~EDWARD'S POV~
After 2 hours, I pulled up to the main house and sped over to my cabin. Silently unlocking and opening the door, I hear the TV on in the living room. Walking in, I immediately notice my beautiful mate asleep on the couch. She was clutching one of her favorite pillows to her chest. My smile turns to a frown when I could feel her pain.
Or should I say our pain, since we both have felt the pain from our bond. I hate that I caused her pain, if I didn't leave she wouldn't have been in pain for who knows how long. And Bella-
Bella!
She wouldn't have been able to kiss my Ayame. I swear, I will find a way to kill her. Snapping out of my thoughts, I come back to reality hearing Ayame murmur in her sleep. Leaning down, I gently yet carefully lift her up into my arms and carry her to the bedroom. After I lay her down, I used my speed to unpack my stuff and put some soft noise on in the room. In case she woke up. Done with everything else, I snuggle close to her as she rubbed her face into my chest. Gazing down at her, I couldn't help but smile at how adorable she is when she sleeps. Laying down, I pull Ayame closer, spooning her as she stays asleep. Let's hope she's dreaming peacefully.
~AYAME'S POV~
I groan when I hear my alarm going off, but I don't open my eyes. Stretching my arms out in front of me, I felt something close to me move. Out of nowhere, my alarm stops suddenly.
Opening my eyes, I wipe the sleep from them the best I could and found something, or someone next to me.
"Morning beautiful." I hear Edward's voice, "Use this. It'll wake you up." He hands me a wet washcloth.
Taking the washcloth, I rub it across my eyes and could feel myself waking up more. Blinking and getting my vision clear, I finally see that he was here.
Edward.
Edward was here.
With me.
"You're here." I say softly.
"I promised you. Didn't I?" He teases, "This was my surprise. I was going to come back last night and be here when you woke up. But I guess that was ruined after our phone call."
"You're here. That's all I need." I replied, cuddling closer.
His arms wrap around my small frame, I was basically laying on top of him. He pulls my soft fuzzy blanket over us as I take in his scent. The scent that I have craved for days. Feeling his lips against my head, I sigh in enjoyment as his arms hug me again.
"Come on. We should get you something to eat, and see if you're still feeling pain." Edward says lifting me up.
"No!" I shout panicked, clinging to his chest. What I didn't know, was that I was trembling as Edward froze on the spot.
"Whoa, babygirl, I wasn't going anywhere. I was just gonna take you to the bathroom and start you a bath." He whispers soothing to me.
I look up into his eyes, loosening my grip I take one of my hands and place it on his cheek.
"You're not leaving again?"
"No. I won't look while you're in the bath. But I'll still be here. I might use the walk-in shower." He spoke as he then starts to walk to the bathroom.
He places me on the counter as he went to the bath. He puts in a bath bomb from Fragrant Jewels and put its' corresponding collection candle on the wax Melter. It was from the Unicorn Tears Collection. The candle was light pink. The bath bomb was a mix of yellow, pink, blue and purple colors in the shape of a tear drop.
After 30 minutes of relaxing, I felt better. When Edward got done with his and changed, he helps me. Without using his eyes, he gives me a towel. Finish drying off, wrapping the towel around my hair, Edward brought me a simple loose t-shirt, strapless bra and jean shorts. Adding to that, my styling light blue lens sunglasses with wire frames, light pink slip on flats and feather earrings.
Edward locks the cabin and speeds us over to the main house. I immediately head for the kitchen to find Mom making waffles and sausage.
"Hi, mom." I greet.
"Hi, sweetie. How you feeling?" She asks.
"A bit better. Just hungry now." I answer.
"Well, eat as much as you want. It's the weekend after all." She says putting the plate in front of me.
"Any plans today?" I ask before taking a bite.
"Just you and Edward going to Zane's. Nothing else." Mom answers.
"Okay." I reply as I finish my waffles.
I put the plate in sink, then walked upstairs to find Alice. I see that the door is closed, so I knock. Learning from last time, I always knock before entering a room. Last time I forgot to knock, I accidentally walked in on Rosie and Emmett. I'll spare you the details, but I have forever learned the lesson of knocking first.
"Come in." I heard Alice call out.
Opening the door, I find Jasper sitting on their bed, reading, with Alice leaning against his chest, reading a magazine.
"What's up?" Alice asks.
"Just wanted to visit. See if you want to hang out before Edward and I leave for Zane's." I answer.
"Of course. You wanna go hunt?" Alice suggests, but before she could stand up, she was pulled into a vision.
"Alice?" I call out. But get nothing.
"Vision." Jasper and I say in sync.
After 30 seconds, Alice comes back.
"Everything okay?" I ask. She nods.
"I know you want to hang out, but why don't I help you pack instead?" Alice suggests. I shrug my shoulders as she interlocks our hands and walks me back to my cabin.
After a fun half hour of messing around with Alice, our bags were packed and ready to go. As Edward put our bags in the truck, I swiftly grabbed my two electronics from our room. Leaning over the balcony, I watch as he lifted the bags up like they were nothing, which they really were, then puts them in the back seat.
He turned to see me above him. His smile was contagious, as I returned a smile to him.
"You ready?" He asks. I nod. He walks towards the edge of the railing, as I climbed up and sat on the railing. As I sit on the edge of the railing, Edward held his hands out, ready to catch me. Pushing myself off, I felt the rush of wind before landing softly in my mate's arms.
"You always did fall for me." He quips.
"Um, babe, I think it was the other way around." I tease him back. I carefully get out of his arms and mischievously walk away.
"Oh, I see how it is, little girl." He shots back. I giggle as I hurry to my car door, but I felt hands on my waist pulling me away from the truck. I was then lifted up on top of his shoulders.
"Ahh! Edward, put me down!" I exclaim, only to hear my siblings laugh.
"You traitors!" I shout out at them until Jasper and Dad stepped forward.
"Okay, okay, Edward, be careful." Daddy said as I felt Jasper used his gift on me. In case my heart was acting up. Edward gently placed me back down on the ground. I let out another giggle as I hug Daddy.
"We'll miss you." He says hugging me.
"We'll miss you guys as well." I reply letting go.
"Miss you, Lil Siren." Jasper says as he hugs me.
"Miss you too, big brother." I reply hugging back.
After hugging and saying goodbye to the others, Edward playfully lifts me up and sets me up into the seat.
"We'll be back before Monday." Edward says before speeding over to the drivers side.
[Zane's barn]
"Babygirl... Babygirl, time to wake up." Opening my eyes, I hear Edward talking and feeling him gently shake my legs.
I stretched my arms as my door opened. I remove my legs from the empty driver seat, Edward then took me in his arms helping me out of the car.
"You know, I can't tell if you guys come to visit me, or just your horses." Zane teases us as he walks over from the fence.
"That's not true." I reply sad that he would think that.
"Whoa, I'm just teasing, Ayame. I'm sorry." He says apologetically.
"It's okay. How's Storm?" I ask.
"Still running. He misses you." He answers.
Going on and on about the horses, the three of us once again have a blast together. Here comes an awesome weekend.
~TIME SKIP~
After an amazing dinner, Edward and I were cuddling in our guest room Zane prepares for us. Snuggling into Edward's chest, his arm was running up and down my back.
Ping
Groaning, I flip over and land on my back. Reaching over, I take my phone and was horrified. I froze.
"What's wrong?" Edward asks, but I couldn't move or speak. Feeling the bed shift, I felt Edward leaning against me to see.
Hey Ayame
I know that you won't talk to me face to face ever since our moment in the bathroom. But I can't stop thinking about you. I just want to talk. For real this time. Please text me back, I really want to talk to you.
~Bella
As I read every word, I apparently was shaking in fear. I felt my phone being taken out of my hand. Then hands on my shoulders.
"Ayame. Listen to me, breathe." Edward said into my ear. I was still trembling as I was then pulled by his arms into his lap.
While rubbing my arms, Edward whispers soothing things to me as I calm down. He doesn't stop soothing me for a whole hour, but as time passed by, I don't know if he noticed I had fallen asleep.
~EDWARD'S POV~
Almost an hour of soothing had passed, I noticed Ayame's breathing had slowed down. She fell asleep. Carefully laying her down, I sped downstairs and outside. As I get my phone out, I see Alice was already calling.
"You knew about this didn't you?" I answer, then question.
"Now I know you want to be angry-"
"I am angry, Alice! You should have seen how scared Ayame was, an hour ago. She could barely breathe. I want to know how the human got her number." I cut Alice off.
"I only saw Bella texting her. I don't know-" Alice paused.
"Alice?" I call out, only to hear her phone getting a message.
"Hang on, Edward." Alice says as it went silent. "Holy shit!" She exclaims.
"What?" I ask worried.
"Bella stole Ayame's number from Angela's phone. That's how she got it!" Alice states.
"But if you saw Bella texting her, how come you didn't see her steal the number from Angela?" I ask.
"I don't know. Jasper, Rosalie, Esme and Carlisle think it has to do with my emotions. That my protectiveness towards Ayame and my dislike towards Bella didn't let me see. That's what they said." Alice explains.
"Makes sense. Have you seen anything else?" I reply.
"Just that when you get back Ayame wanted to get a new phone. Before I told everyone about my vision, Ayame was freaking out and Carlisle was angry." Alice says.
"Well, I wouldn't blame-" I stop myself. "Wait a minute, back up. Did you just say, Carlisle was angry?" I repeat.
"Yep. I'll show you my visions when I get back. For now, I'll worry about the phone, you take care of our Ayame. After all, you're coming back early in the morning." Alice says.
"We are?" I ask.
"Yeah. You had decided to come home early, although it's Sunday morning instead of evening. We'll see you soon." Alice answers before hanging up.
Putting my phone in my pocket, I exhaled exhausted from just a small amount of time.
"Something buggin' ya?" Zane asks, appearing by my side.
"Something like that." I reply.
"Well, we got all night. I'm all ears." He says.
"If I tell you, you might go on a killing frenzy." I reply.
"Come on, where's the trust, Cullen? I've always been there for you Cullen's since the first time Carlisle brought you and Ayame here. What's different this time?" Zane questions.
"I knew he'd get suspicious at one point. No use hiding it now." I thought to myself as we walk over to the field fence and lean against it.
"The real reason I brought Ayame here this weekend. A human has become interested in us." I explain.
"And by 'us', you mean-"
"Ayame and myself." I cut Zane off.
"Okay, continue." He says.
"When I smelt her blood, it was calling to me, like a blood singer. It was so bad that I had to go away for the week to the Denali's. I hated being away from Ayame every second. But what the worst thing about it is, I shouldn't have left, period." I explain.
"What happened?"
"The human cornered Ayame in the school's bathroom. And kissed her." I answer angry through my teeth.
Zane was silent, but I knew he was shocked.
"Wow. No wonder Ayame barely said a word this weekend. I mean she spent time talking to Storm, but barely to us. I figured something was up, but didn't want to say anything." Zane said.
"It's fine. I got to Ayame and helped calm her down. Everyone else is worried about her like I am." I reply.
"How so?"
"Carlisle and Esme are worried about her mentally and emotionally, even though it was physically but she's fine. Alice, Rosalie and Emmett are worried about what will happen next. And Jasper is worried about her emotions. In case she accidentally gets exposed." I explain.
"Well. I wouldn't blame any of you. She truly is special. I hate it when bad things happen to pure hearted people." Zane says.
"Even if their Cold Ones?" I ask, smirking with an eyebrow raised.
"Even if it's a Cold One." Zane repeats, monotone.
A brief moment of silence, before we burst out laughing. Taking in the view, the horses sleeping, and the smell of country life. It wasn't long before I return to Ayame's side to see she is peacefully sleeping. No signs of any nightmares.
~SUNDAY MORNING~
~THIRD POV~
Edward already had their bags packed and waited until 10:45 to fully pack them in the truck. Zane had bought a small stack of sausages and bacon for breakfast and for them to take on the road. While Edward and Zane cooks, Ayame began to stir. Giving Edward a look, Zane finished the breakfast allowing Edward to flash upstairs and get in bed next to his beloved mate. Ayame soon opens her eyes and a soft smile was found on her face.
"Morning." Edward says.
"Morning." Ayame replies. Sitting up, she stretches as Edward picks up the wet washcloth on the nightstand. Ayame slightly blushes as she takes it and wipes the sleep from her eyes.
"I know you'd probably want to shower. But breakfast is almost ready, and we have to leave a bit early this time." Edward says to her.
"Okay. I'll get changed and meet you downstairs. Let's get breakfast to go so I can say goodbye to Zane and Storm right before we leave." Ayame replies.
"Deal." Edward said, before placing his lips against hers. Kissing back, Ayame softly moaned, enjoying the kiss. Pulling away before getting to heated, Edward left the room allowing Ayame to change.
Once Ayame finished putting on her converse before running downstairs and out to the field. Using her agility taught to her by Esme, Rosalie and Alice, Ayame gripped the wooden fence and flipped herself up. Twisting her body, she landed perfectly on the beam.
Using her whistle command, Ayame smiled brightly as she heard the horses galloping. Storm came into view and stops galloping into a canter. Getting close enough, Ayame held her hand out as Storm was finally walking, reaching her. Stroking his nose, Ayame hums in peace feeling Storm's calm emotions radiating.
"I'm sorry we didn't get much riding time. I mean, we did go on 5 hacks, but it didn't feel as long as I wanted. I'm sad the weekend has come to yet another end. I'm sorry I have to leave again Storm." Ayame said out loud.
Storm takes a step closer and moved his head over her shoulder, hugging Ayame.
"I love you too, boy. As promised, I will come back next weekend and visit again. You can count on it." Ayame vowed. "I just hope Bella won't try anything again."
Storm tilted his head, giving off the expression, 'who?'.
"Just some human. She did something very disrespectful to not only me but Edward. That's another reason we came this weekend. I just had to get away." Ayame states.
Storm brushed its mane out, then nudged its nose against hers.
"I'm fine. Promise. Edward won't let anything happen to me." Ayame says, happily.
Storm snorts hearing how happy Ayame is, it made her giggle. Edward soon flashed over and watches from a short distance. He was sad he had to interrupt, but it was time.
"Ayame." Edward announced himself to avoid scaring her. Ayame turned her head to see Edward with an apologetic smile. She knew what that meant.
"Coming." Ayame replied, leaning back. Flipping her legs up and above her head, Ayame appeared as if she back flipped off of the beam without letting go. Petting Storm one last time, Ayame sadly walked over to her mate and linked their hands.
"I'm sorry, babygirl, but it's time." Edward says, full of guilt.
"I know. We go through this every weekend. Even during the summers, we spent in Forks, we still could barely spend time here and still get back home to keep up appearances. I think our lives have become predictable." Ayame replied.
"You might be right." Edward says while laughing. Ayame smiles as she lets out a giggle too.
"I'm afraid we have to go." Edward says lowly.
"I know." Ayame replied lowly.
Edward placed a kiss upon Ayame's forehead, lingering to let her know that it's okay. They say goodbye to Zane, before getting in the truck. Edward gazed at Ayame, she was watching Storm attempting to bond with the other horses, but they keep getting too close for him and it freaked him out. Without knowing, Ayame let out a sad sigh, as the horses disappeared into the field.
Edward wanted to ask if she was okay, but knew he'd get a short answer, but the truth. After starting the engine, they quickly got onto the highway. As Ayame felt bored watching the scenery pass by through the window, Edward was quick to notice. He turned on the dash screen and connected his phone. Then, he plays her favorite playlist.
Playlist contains:
Florida Georgia Line - Cruise and This Is How We Roll
Imagine Dragons - Monster and Whatever It Takes
Fall Out Boy - Immortals
Katy Perry - E.T.
Kelsea Ballerini - Yeah Boy
Chase Rice - Eyes On You
Ayame sang along happily, Edward didn't mind at all. He has listened to those songs so many times it would drive a normal person insane. But since Ayame loves them and so many more songs, he doesn't mind if he had to listen to them over and over. Ayame perked up when they finally left Seattle and arrived in Forks. To avoid any contact, Edward took the short cut that Carlisle found when they first got here many years ago. It kept their arrival a secret until they were ready to show themselves. Parking in the garage, Edward used his speed to grab their bags and carry Ayame inside. Not wasting any time, they were both greeted by everyone.
"You're home. Did you have fun?" Carlisle asks, after hugging his daughter.
"Yeah. Storm's getting better at mingling with the other horses but is still stubborn as heck." Ayame answers.
"I wouldn't be surprised. I remember his parents. They were stubborn as well." Carlisle says.
"Really?" Ayame asks. He nods.
"Well, we're glad you had fun. But we're really glad you're home." Jasper says, sitting on the couch with his mate Alice sitting on his lap. He was sad that she stood up, but didn't show it.
"I thought we should get this done and over with." Alice said perky as she hands Ayame a gift wrapped box.
"Alice, what-"
"Just open it, you can thank me later." Alice cuts Ayame off. Instead of arguing, Ayame pulled the ribbon undone, then pulled the lid box off, revealing a Samsung Galaxy note 9.
"Alice. This is... awesome." Ayame said speechless. "This must have been expensive." Ayame's excitement turned worried.
"Nonsense. It's not as bad as you think." Alice replied, unphased.
"Alice. How much?" Ayame asks, her eyebrow raised.
"Just less than 900." She answers calm.
"Alice!" Ayame exclaims, which made everyone burst out laughing. "Not funny." She scolds her family.
"Sorry, sweetie... but it kind of is." Carlisle says first, while chuckling.
"I agree. You know that we have the money. And you know that we love to spoil you." Esme says next.
"Yeah. But if this keeps up, you'll end up broke." Ayame replied, hanging her head.
"Not gonna happen. Plus, you're worth it." Rosalie said firm. Ayame smiles as she hugs Alice. As Edward took their bags upstairs, Esme and Alice helped Ayame put her chip from her previous phone into the new one and showed her how it worked. After a quick text to Angela about the new number and a fast apologetic reply from Angela, Ayame was also quick to block Mike and Tyler's numbers.
After a while, Ayame felt tired, even Jasper could feel it. Edward decided it was bedtime. Ayame playfully tried to deny but ended up failing. He carefully carried her bridal style up to their room, deciding to stay in the main house for the night, it would be best to be around family right now.
~EDWARD'S POV~
Twenty minutes pass since I had brought Ayame to bed in our room. She's sleeping peacefully as she snuggled into my chest.
"I know you guys want to talk. Would you just get in here already?" I say, knowing they could hear me. They've been trying to whisper about talking to me ever since I brought her up here, it was driving me nuts.
"Sorry to intrude, but we just wanted to know the plan for tomorrow." Carlisle says standing in the door, but Esme and Jasper were also in view.
"I figured she'd stay home tomorrow. Wouldn't want her to have another attack." I said, gently brushing some hair away from her face.
"I agree. I can still feel her fear. She's blind to what might happen, and I don't know if I can help her in time." Jasper replies.
"I can call the school and tell them that she's not feeling well, or we could use one of the other excuses, like a doctors' appointment. Carlisle could vouch, if need be." Esme suggests.
"That's not a bad idea. Are you okay with that, Edward?" Carlisle asks.
"I'm up for anything. As long as Ayame remains calm, and I know that Bella won't do anything." I answer.
"I want to ask Edward something. In private, if you all don't mind." Carlisle requests. Esme and Jasper didn't hesitate to speed away. Then, we both felt the others leave as well.
"What'd you want to talk about?" I ask, trying not to use my gift unintentionally.
"When you had to leave for a week due to Bella's blood, did you know what exactly you smelt?" He asks.
"I smelt something sweet. And I had the urge to sink my teeth in to taste it. But when I left to avoid that, then with what happened to Ayame, I could still semi smell it near town. It changed." I explain.
"It changed?" He questions.
"Yes. At first it was sweet. But when I returned for Ayame and this evening, the familiar scent only smelt disgusting, toxic even. I still had the urge but the scent changed." I explain.
"You know what this means do you?" He asks, regretfully.
"Yeah, sadly I do. Bella's my blood singer." I answer gritting my teeth.
"And I god damn hate it!"
