Bonus Chapter #1: Tadashi and I

Elsa's POV

I looked at the picture one last time and hid it in my car's compartment. I smile at Jacqueline and put on a seatbelt on her.

"Mommy.." she called me and I hummed.

"I love ywou." she said and I look at her. She was smiling sweetly at me. She really reminds me of her father. She looks like him.

"I love you too." I told her and kissed the top of her head. I held on the sterring wheel and drove.

"So, baby... Wanna see daddy?" I asked her and she nodded making her pigtails bounce.

"Daddy Tadashi?" she asked and I said yes.

"I haven't seen him in a long time." she told me and I frowned. She was right and it saddens me that... That...

"Mommy? Can we go now? I wanna go now.." she said and I stepped out of the car. The cold breeze was making me shiver only a bit.

I went to the other side of the car nd opened the door. I unbuckled Jacqueline's seatbelt and help her get out of the car.

After making sure that all doors were locked. Jacqueling held my hand and we walked.

I look at the snowy ground. The snow was white and brushed away some of it. I'm looking at the metal plate with his names carved on it.

My lips part as I see his name and my heart was beating faster. I touch the metal and I touch Jackie's hand with the other.

"Hi, daddy." I hear her say. Tears now streamed down my face. My cheeks felt cold but my heart was burning.

I miss him. And I could tell my daughter also miss him.

"Tadashi... I miss you... We miss you." I said and some of my tears dropped on the ground.

Jacqueline hugs me when she noticed that I was crying. I held her arms that were around me. She was a smart kid. A sweet girl.

Images started flashing in my mind.

When Jackie came to this world, Tadashi accepted her fully. Like it was his own daughter. I watch how he carries her carefully with tears in his eyes.

He was smiling at her and her small hand touches his finger. Tadashi looks at her with amazement and he exctingly told me all about.

He gives me little Jacqueline and I look how her beautiful blue eyes flutter open and they look at me. Tadashi wraps his arm around me and I look up at him.

"She looks so beautiful... Just like her mother." he says and plants a kiss on my forehead.

"I'm going to name her Jacqueline... Jacqueline Hamada.. You want to add some other name?" I ask him.

"No need.. Having her my surname is enough." he told me and a tear fell down on my cheek. He brushes it with his thumb.

"I love you, Elsa.. Thank you for everything." he whispered.

"I love you too, Tash." I told him. I look at Jacqueline and she was yawning.

I smile and then I noticed a flash. I look at Tadashi and he was holding up his phine. He just took a picture.

"When you grow up, I'm going to look at your baby picture and think how lucky I am to have this kind of family." he sweetly said and plants a kiss on Jackie's forehead.

"Smile." he says and we smile while I was holding Jacqueline.

Those were the moments I wouldn't forget. They were meant to be treasured. They were meant to be remembered.

Everythig was perfect we were happy. But then, we lost him. He died at an early age. I don't get it why he died. He was a sweet person. He was the husband material.

I bring Jacqueline closer to me.

"Can you see us? Look at how Jacqueline changed." I said and laughed a bit.

I touch the carvings.

"We'll come back, okay? We promise. Right, Jackie?" I asked.

"We promise!" she said and placed her pinky on the ground like a pinky promise.

"Bye, Tadashi." I say. I stood up and Jackie and I walked back to the car.

I put on Jackie's seatbelt. I noticed that she became very silent.

"Are you cold?" I asked and she shook her head.

"So, where do you want to go?" I asked trying to cheer her up.

"I want to go home." she answered shortly with her voice squeaking.

"Do you want anything?'' I asked her and I noticed her eyes being teary. I became confused and she finally answered.

''I want daddy back..'' she said her bottom lip pouting a bit and she cried. My lips parted. I was in complete shock. This is the first she ever admitted it and cried about it. I pull her to me and embraced her. She was crying on my coat and I didn't care. This is my daughter.

''I know... I do too, darling..'' I said. I held her for a few more minutes and then I kiss the top of her head.

''Let's just go home?'' I asked her and she nodded. She cried in her seat silently. I actually pity her. I don't know what to do.

I'm now carrying her to her room. She eventually fell asleep while she was cryig. She must be very sad that she just slept. That's why I don't bring her when I visit Tadashi. She would stare at nothing for a few hours and lose her energy. That's why I sometimes go alone.

I put a blanket on top of her body and put her favourite teddy bear beside her. It was her favourite because Tadashi gave it to her as his birthday gift to her. I sighed and left the room. I brushed my hair with my hand and went to my room. 

This house... this was the house where Tadashi and I together took care of Jackie. She grew up here. 

I sat down on the bed. I look at the left side of the bed. He would sleep at the left side while I would be at the right. Now, I sleep here alone. 

I pick up Tadashi's picture frame from the side table and touch it. I hugged the picture and laid down. Memories flashing back in my mind.

I met him when it was a very hot summer day, I decided to buy an ice cream since I was sweating and obviously, it was hot. He was the owner of the ice cream shop.

 I didn't know that it was his opening day. He noticed that I was pregnant so he gave the ice cream for free. I tried to pay him but then he showed me this paper that shows that he was supposed to do that. 

I accepted the ice cream. He was a very nice man. He was very kind and he was a gentleman.

Then, I would always go to that ice cream shop and buy ice cream. The ice cream was always delicious. Then eventually we got along and started meeting up. That's where it all started.

I don't know if you find it cliche but, I don't care. I learned how to love him and he accepted me for who I am. That's what mattered. 

He loved Jacqueline like a daughter of his own. 

He was the one to teach her how to walk. 

He was the one who taught her how things work.

Like a real dad. 

He was a dad.. to Jackie. 

I can't believe in such a young age, he would die. He died because he tired to protect us. Me and Jacqueline. And everyday, I blame myself. 

Flashback

It was already night time. Jacqueline was already asleep and Tadashi was carrying her. I look at them and smile. They look really close. Nothing would break them apart. 

''It's already 8. Explains why she fell asleep.'' Tadashi chuckled. I open the car door and he placed her in the backseat. I go to the passenger seat and he went to sit on the driver's seat. 

He turned on the engine and then he opened the lights. He checked his pocket and the compartment.

''I forgot my phone inside the shop. I'll be coming back.'' he said and pecked me on the lips. I watch as he ran back to the shop. I looked at Jackie who was sleeping soundly at the back seat. I got her teddy bear on the floor and put it beside her. 

I looked at my wrist watch and looked back at the shop. What's taking him so long? 

I went out of my car and went after Tadashi. The lights were close and I hear some glass shattering. My eyes widened and I opened the lights quickly. I'm now looking at Tadashi and some guy wearing a black mask. 

Tadashi was pushing him and he had a knife against Tadashi's throat. I screamed and they're attention both turned towards me. Tadashi pushed him and kicked him on the stomach. I just stood there not knowing what to do. 

''Elsa, get out of here!'' he yelled. I didn't move. I looked around me and looked for something good. There was nothing but ice cream cones and such. 

Everything happened way too fast. 

The stranger stabbed Tadashi in his stomach with the knife he got. I gasped at what I saw. I saw him run away. I went to Tadashi and sat beside him. I picked his head up and hugged his body. He was breathing heavily. 

''E-Elsa..'' he whispered. 

''Tadashi, stay with me please.... you're going to be safe.'' I said and cried.

''I love you and Jackie..'' he told me and blood came out from his mouth. 

''I know that... and we need you, okay?'' I said and picked out his phone from the ground. I called 911 and called for help. There was a station nearby and they'll be here for a few more minutes.

''Elsa..'' he whispered once again.

''We're going to take you to the hospital.. Just a few more minutes, Tadashi... Just stay.'' I said and kissed his forehead. He held my hand.

''If I won't make i-it, make sure that Jackie meets her f-father?'' he requests and I shake my head.

''You'll make it... You're her father.'' I said. 

''I know that. But w-we both know t-that... I-I'm not h-her real f-father.'' he says slowly

''No, don't say that, Tadashi.'' I told him.

''Please.... I-I just don't w-want her to g-grow up w-without a father..'' he said. I look at him. 

''I love you... both of you...'' he said and I hear cars arrive. 

End of flashback

Tadashi as dead on arrival. he didn't make it. it was hard for me to explain everything to Jacqueline. She didn't take it easily. Of course, they were too close... It would be so hard for her.

I remembered every word Tadashi said before he died. I kept on thinking about it. I picked up my phone that was on the table and dialed a phone number.

''Hey, can we meet up?''
