Hera and Kanan woke up first as usual at 7 O clock before showering and getting dressed; Hera woke Sabine whilst Kanan woke Zeb. Once waking up their son and daughter, and making sure they actually got up, the couple went downstairs to the kitchen; they decided to let Ezra sleep in for a bit so they didn't enter his room. Hera began to cook some bacon cobs whilst her husband made them both some coffee "uhh!! So tired" Zeb groaned as he entered the room "don't play on your X-box past midnight then" Kanan said with a smirk; his son just sat down and lay his head on the table. "Where's the kid??" he asked, although it was muffed a bit "come again??" Hera asked with a chuckle; her son sat up "where's the kid?? He wasn't in his room and he ain't down here" Zeb repeated. The two adults shared a worried look "you don't think??" Hera didn't want to finish the question, but she didn't need to "I don't know...he was here at 12 last night and seemed okay...ish" the woman seemed surprised "you two spoke??" she asked earning a nod. Zeb raised a brow "what?? You think he ran away or something??" he asked earning shrugs, Sabine then walked in "who thinks someone ran away now??" her brother explained the situation. "Oh the kid?? He hasn't ran away" she stated, confusing the three "how do you know??" Kanan asked; his daughter pointed outside "I saw him outside lay on the grass when I opened my curtains".
They all walked outside to see the teenage girl was right; Ezra was lay with one arm under his head whilst the other was draped over his stomach "he did say he wanted to sit outside for a bit last night, but I didn't think he'd fall asleep" Kanan whispered to the other; Hera smiled "well...he seems to be fine, so we'll leave him for a bit longer" she said. They were about to turn around and walk back into the house when the kid opened his eyes "you guys really aren't quiet" he stated as he stood up "b...but we were whispering!?" Zeb exclaimed; the teen just smirked "it that was whispering, I'd hate to hear you shout". They all entered the house and sat at the table as Hera served the bacon cobs, Ezra didn't eat again "you should really eat kid, you're too skinny and didn't eat last night" Sabine stated, earning glares from her family and a raised brow from Ezra "I don't normally eat breakfast, so I'm never hungry in the morning" was all he said. Hera spoke up "although Sabine could of been a bit more suttle with saying that, she's right" she stated "you need to eat and get somemore meat on them bones". Ezra rolled his eyes in annoyance "what do you want me to do?? Force it down my throat??" he asked, sounding quiet serious. Kanan stepped in "no, that's not what we're saying...just try to eat a little bit, even two mouth fulls??" he asked; Ezra seemed to think about it before sighing "fine, two mouth fulls, but that's it".
It was a surprise when the teen agreed, but they all smiled "good". Ezra had the two mouth fulls, but it actually looked like he was forcing the food to go and stay down; the couple made mental notes to sort some kind of diet for the boy. Once they finished eating, Zeb left for work, Sabine and Hera finished getting ready before driving off, Kanan cleaned up from breakfast, and Ezra took a shower before putting on the clothes Hera had given him the day before. The teen went into the living room to see Kanan sat on the floor going through the file, he looked up "hey, you can watch tv if you want?? Or...find something to do??" the man suggested; Ezra nodded before asking "do you know where some paper, colours and pencils are??" he asked. Kanan thought for a moment "yeah, should be some in your room in one of the draws" he stated, the teen thanked him before going back to his room, finding the supplies and walking back to the living room. Ezra had a plan in his mind, he was going to draw some things that implied he knew the Rebellion, he'd suttly make sure Kanan saw them and hopefully, he'd ask. Ezra would tell him that the Rebellion were good and tell him about the Empire; he was debating on whether to tell the man about the death of his parents.
The boy sat on the sofa and began to draw the Rebellion symbol he and the other four had created; they'd spray paint it on street walls most days. "...Hera and I have booked some appointments for you tomorrow" Kanan suddenly spoke, the teen's head snapped up "appointments?! For what?!" he asked in weariness "calm down, it's just a check up at the doctors and dentict...you've been to the doctors and dentict before right??" he asked. Ezra shook his head "nope, don't even know what a dentict is" the man couldn't believe it "you...you've never had a check up?! What about your jabs?!" he asked, earning a more confused look "jabs?!". Kanan stopped working for a moment to explain what a jab and dentict was "a needle, I can handle" Ezra said "but some random person sticking sharo objects into my mouth?? No way!!" Kanan smiled "they're proffecinals Ezra, you'll be fine" the kid just mumbled "fine".
They fell silent for a few more minutes until Ezra 'accidentally' dropped the finished drawing; Kanan looked up and picked the drawing up "this is really good Ezra...isn't this what people have been spray painting all around town??" he asked earning a shrug. "Maybe" Ezra said, pretending to not know "do you know what it means??" Kanan asked; the kid nodded "yeah, it's the Rebellion symbol". Kanan's eyes widened "the...the Rebellion?! They have a symbol?!" he nodded again "of course they have a symbol, I thought you would know this". Kanan stopped working for a moment again "em...do you know...any of the Rebellion??" he hesitantly asked, Ezra once again nodded "some of them" he comfirmed; he'd only let Kanan no what he wanted him to know. "Could...you tell me them?? Their names?? And maybe how many there are??" Kanan asked, this made the teen frown "no Kanan" the man sighed "please Ezra, I need to know these things". The boy still said no "so you can do what?! Arrest them?!" he asked, the adult sighed again "it's complicated kid, the Rebellion are dangerous and bad news" he stated; this made Ezra angry.
"Dangerous?! Bad news?! For a cop that's working on the case, you sure as hell know nothing about the Rebellion" he exclaimed, the man sat back "then tell me Ezra?? What are they like?? Becasue from what the police know, they steal nearly everyday!!" he exclaimed. Ezra shook his head and kept quiet for a moment as he calmed down, Kanan knew what the boy was doing so he kept quiet too "...the Rebellion are good Kanan, they help people" he said earning a blank 'sure they do' look from the man "yes they steal, but do you know what they steal??" he asked; this make Kanan think before pulling a piece of paper out from the folder. He began to read out what the Rebellion had stolen over the years of being around "234 blankets, 692 items of clothing, £2004 worth of food and £6283 worth of bottled water" he finished, Ezra then said "notice anything??" he asked but the man shook his head "why aren't the Rebellion stealing money?? Jewels and expencive things??". Kanan thought about it before realising the boy had a point "...okay, point taken...what are you saying Ezra??" he asked; the kid sighed "I'm saying they're good Kanan....if it weren't for them...I'd be dead". Kanan's eyes widened "wh...what?!" the teen sighed before sitting down on the floor across from the man "I'm gonna tell you a sorry of a family of three" he began.
"When this boy was born, his mother and father wanted a good and safe life for him, so they spoke out against a gang called the Empire" he paused, the man had heard of the gang and listened closely "the Empire were the worst of the worst, they killed people just because they didn't follow them and their rules" Kanan was shocked by this, the Empire were quiet, they never did anything to attract attention. "When the boy turned the age of 4, this was when the Empire found our who was speaking out against them and their location" he once again paused "so one night when the parents were about to put their son to bed, over 10 men barged into the home and attacked them" Kanan's eyes widened "the mother managed to hid her son in a closet before trying to help her husband fight the men....but it was no use". Ezra sighed "the Empire shot and stabbed them, the leader was there and made sure the deed wad done....they took the bodies, put them in bags and left" Kanan was saddened by the story "the little boy left the closet traumatised after that, there was a little hole he could look though and saw everything...he was never the same after that". They both fell silent, Ezra allowed the story to sink into Kanan's mind "that's....horrible!! If the Empire are doing these things, why have we not heard anything?!" he wondered out loud "they're smart and well planned, they can take up to a month with planning attacks". The man just shook his head in horror "this story....where have you heard it??" he asked; Ezra sighed "that was how my parents died Kanan....I was the little boy in the closet". The mans eyes widened "oh Ezra...I'm so sorry" the teen just shook his bead "don't be, it wasn't your fault they killed them...or that the cops of that time did nothing" this was a shock. "What do you mean the cops did nothing?!" Kanan asked, the kid explained "once I called them after the Empire left, they sent out two cops, they looked around and couldnt see anything that seemed to show a struggle or a murder" it annoyed Ezra so extremely much. "How?! There had to of been blood everywhere and things fallen onto the floor?!" Kanan asked "I told you, the Empire are smart and well planned, whatever fell or broke they threw away or took with them, and with the blood, they must of know we had a massive rug in the living room" he explained "so they fought my parents to the floor and shot and stabbed them on that, they took the rug with them too". The kid was right, they are smart "so the cops decided my parents must of left or run away, but I just kept telling them what happened....they didn't believe me" he sighed "and from that day on, I told myself I'd never trust a cop again". Kanan felt terrible for the kid "don't say sorry again or else I'll kick you where it hurts" Ezra said half heartedly once he saw the look on the mans face; Kanan chuckled and smiled "okay okay, I won't". They sat there for some time "what's this got to do with the Rebellion??" Kanan asked, Ezra explained "after a couple of years being on the streets alone, I met some people that said they could help me". The man listenered to everything the boy said "and so, they took me in and let me stay at their HQ....there's over 100 people there Kanan, some just needing help because their poor, some because the Empire did or are going to do something" Kanan really didn't know what to do now "so please Kanan, don't ask me to give you information on them....I can't betray the people that helped and saved me".
"Come on kid, let's get some lunch" Kanan said as he stood up and walking into the kitchen, Ezra followed behind him and sat at the table "what do you fancy??" the man asked earning a shrug "an apple". Kanan sighed "you need to have more than that kid, what about a fruit salad??" he asked earning another shrug "whatever, but you know I won't eat it all" Ezra stated as the man began to gather the many different fruits "then I'll give you a small portion". Ezra sat in silence with the man prepared the salad, there was apple, banana, grapes, (at this point I couldn't think of anymore fruit!! To google!!) peach, rasberries, blackberries, strawberries, water melon, yellow melon and cramberries. When Kanan placed the bowls on the table, Ezra actually felt....really hungry "go on then, dig in" was all the man said; to his surprised, the boy did. Ezra ate all of his salad within five minutes "want some more kid??" Kanan asked, he smiled when the boy slowly nodded yes "help yourself, there's more in the fridge". After eating a lot of fruit salad, the two decided to stop working and drawing, and to go on a walk; Ezra agreed because he wanted to get out of the house. They walked down may streets before deciding to sit down on a bench "what made you want to be a cop??" Ezra asked, the man was taken back for a moment "well em...I don't know really, I just...always have" he stated "it might be because my father was a police officer, but I've only ever heard stories" the teen didn't need to know why the man had only ever heard stories "...so you wanted to keep it running in the family??" he asked earning a nod. They were silent for a moment "I know what you mean" Ezra stated in a slight mumble, but the man hear it "you do??" he asked earning a nod "yep, with my parents speaking out, I wanted to carry on their legacy". It seemed the two actually understood a lot about each other and had things in common "do I really have to go to these appointments??" Ezra asked as they walked back home "yes Ezra, you need these check ups".
Just letting y'all know, I'm going on holiday for a week to Wales tomorrow and might not be able to upload due to no wifi. Sorry.
