Knuckles pov

I tapped my foot nervously. Espio was five minutes late and I couldn't help but fear the worst. Did he have second thoughts? I mean he must have why else would he not have shown up-

"Knuckles-sama!" He ran up to me out of breath "I'm so sorry I'm late. I got a little lost" he smiled bashfully.

"It's alright. I'm just glad you came at all" I sighed in relief.

"Oh course I came. It would have been rude of me not to" he said firmly.

"Aren't you polite" I chuckled softly "alright let's go in" I placed my hand on his back and led him inside.

We took a seat and read through the menu. Once we ordered our food we sparked up a conversation.

"So sonic told me that he had come across a photo of you as a baby"

"Wah" I did a double take"Where'd he get his hands on that!"

"I don't know but the evidence is golden" he revealed a photo of a baby me sitting on the master emerald.

"Oh god" I laughed into my hands.

"Don't be embarrassed. I think you're cute" he giggled.

"I'm going to kill him" I growled.

"Aww don't do that. I like his company" he reached out and grabbed my hand. I smiled and squeezed it. Things are going well.

"Here's your meals sir" the waiter put down our food. We thanked them before we dug into our food, our eyes never leaving the other..
