Trusting me

After attempting to call her parents three times, Natasha gave up since she had to head out for school. It's been a week and Natasha has been trying all week to get a hold of them to explain her current situation before the school could. She knew that if the school called and told them she was getting tutored then all hell would rain down. No daughter of Ivan should be receiving help, especially in School.

She hadn't told anyone that she was being tutored, she really didn't want anyone to know. Especially because most kids with bad grades don't immediately get tutored at this school, but her grade literally depended on her staying at the school.

When she got to school she saw Maria standing by her locker, foot against it, typing on her phone. Natasha watched as Maria angrily typed on her phone before letting out an annoyed laugh.

"Careful, there are a lot of people here and someone might think you're trying to murder someone," Natasha said making Maria look up at her. "What's up?"

"Sam is an idiot." She said putting her head up against the locker as Natasha opened hers and put her books in it.

"Yeah, that's just who he is." She nodded.

"You're lucky, it doesn't seem like Steve causes you any problems," Maria mumbled. The two had come out a few days ago, receiving many comments from their friends. Bucky took it to great lengths when laughing at his friends.

"I am sure when we reach a month he might start becoming more of an idiot around me." She said.

"Yeah well, he wants me to meet the parents." She said. "We've been dating  a month and a half at most, and he wants me to meet his parents."

"That's good, right? I mean at least you know he's serious about you."

"Yeah I mean I guess, but I don't know if I'm ready."

"You?" She raised an eyebrow. "Don't you like Sam?"

"Yes. But I don't want things to go too fast, I just want this to last." She said. "I don't want to lose this."

"Well maybe to keep it this is the next step. I mean I know Steve's mom,"

"Yeah but you met her before you were even friends with Steve." She sighed. "I told him I'd let him know tomorrow."

"Don't worry too much about it, I mean I like you and I don't like a lot of people," She smirked.

"Oh wow, how great for me," She said sarcastically. "But how can I really trust that when you like people like Barton," She smirked as well.

"Just think about it, I think it would be great for you," she said. "For both of you."

"Fine I will," She sighed. "anyways wanna go with me to the diner after school? I very much could use a shake." Natasha almost froze, she didn't know what to say. She had tutoring after school with Tony.

"I can't. I have stuff to do."

"Stuff?" She asked. "Like what?"

"Just stuff."

"Stuff with Steve?" She asked.

"Maybe." she lied. Luckily for her, the bell rang. "I have to go, I will see...next time I see you."

"Wait are you avoiding me?" She asked before she could go, but Maria laughed and let out a smile. "Haha what am I talking about you love me most."

"You know it, babe," Natasha smiled before walking away. She walked away before Maria could say anything else and went to first period. When she walked into class she smiled at Steve, who had a cup of coffee on her desk and one in her hand.

"Hello," Steve said smiling up at her.

"Hi," She smiled back. "Thank you for this," She said holding up a cup of coffee, "I need this very much."

"Yeah I know you," He said. "I feel like the only time I see you is in this class." He said when she took a seat beside him.

"I am sorry I've been busy." She said taking out her books.

"Well I miss you," he said looking at her with a dorky smile. "And I'd very much like to take you out on a date after school. It's Friday and I figured we could go out right after school and take the subway downtown there's a great ice cream place I can take you to and a great pizza place. It will be fun."

"Oh Steve that sounds amazing," She smiled. "But I can't go right after school."

"Why not?" He asked. "I can pay for the subway ticket if that's a problem, I asked you out it's only fair I pay," He said. "It will be fun."

"I can't." She said. "How about tomorrow?" She asked. "That way we can spend all day together."

"Are you avoiding me?" he asked, causing Natasha to get major deja vu from her earlier chat with Maria. Natasha sighed and looked at him taking his face in her hands.

"I am not avoiding you. I just... I just have stuff to do revolving my stay here." She said, and Steve's face changed to a panicked one.

"Your stay? What happened? Are you alright?" He asked.

"for now" she answered. "I just need to make sure everything stays that way."

"Is there anything I can to help?" He asked. "you don't have to do this alone,"

"You are sweet and the best person I have ever met, but I got this okay? Nick and Kennedy are helping me out and we figured out a plan."

"Can I know what It is?" He asked. "I wanna make sure you're okay."

"I'd prefer it if you didn't. It has to do with my school work and it's kind of embarrassing."

"I would never make fun of you."

"Trust me I know," she said. "I will tell you, I just...not here okay? You know me, so can you trust me?" Natasha knew that Tony and Steve were friends but they were also always arguing, that's just who they were. She didn't want Steve to feel the need to be around her when she's alone with Tony because he has been know to be called a flirt. Also, she didn't want him to know that if she doesn't get her grade up soon she's going to be going home.

"I can," He said. "Just call me later tonight so we can figure out when I can pick you up okay?"

"You're the best." She smiled.

"Only for you," He smiled.

"Okay class let's get started." The teacher announced, Steve smiled softly at Natasha before turning his attention to the teacher. Natasha couldn't believe how lucky she was to have him, he was so understanding and so loving.

She reached out and put her hand on his, as a way of showing affection. She wasn't the best at expressing that to him, but she wanted him to know she did care about him, this was the best way she knew how.

She would tell him eventually, he deserved to know, but she herself didn't want to come to terms with it. She didn't want to go home. Maybe this was more about protecting herself from the truth than protecting him. It was sad but true.

I hope you all are enjoying! Stay tuned for more!
