Sister-Sister
Natasha sat in the diner that afternoon after school. She found herself there a lot and would often go there just to take a break from the stress mess that is her life. But today she was even more stressed.
After getting the text from Yelena, they started to continue throughout the day, and she had a feeling that it wouldn't stop. So to solve the problems that are her life, she went for a milkshake.
She was having a great time, even got to speak to Sarah every so often. She was a caring woman and Natasha really enjoyed being around her. So her day was starting to turn around, that was of course until she got another round of messages from Yelena.
Where are you?
Nevermind I'll just use the find, my friends.
Natasha frowned. The girl was halfway around the world yet she was still trying to stalk her?
"What's the matter?" She looked up and saw Steve standing there. "Just started my shift and it caught my attention that you look like the world jut stepped on your puppy, which is not a common thing to feel when drinking a shake from this place." He flashed her his pretty blinding smile. "What's the matter, Nat?"
"Oh um nothing. Just an old friend. From Russia."
"You have friends?" A smirk flashed on his face,
"Very funny Rogers," she rolled her eyes. "She's more of a sister I guess that's what you can call her. I've known her for a very long time. It's kinda hard to explain."
"Sounds nice. I think of Buck as my brother, there is just a certain connection you have with some people that is unexplainable to others."
"But sometimes she can annoy the hell out of me." she sighed. "Like right now. She makes me wanna rip my hair out."
"Oh don't do that, I like red." He once again smiled at her and a blush filled Natasha's cheeks. "What's she saying that's got you so worked up? If you don't mind sharing."
"Uh well, she has been asking a lot of weird questions all day, as if she's trying to knowing my exact location. She was pretty upset when she found out she couldn't come to New York with me."
"And here I was thinking people were just running away from you." Steve laughed.
"Wow, you're full of so many jokes today Rogers." She shook her head. "I wouldn't be surprised if you skipped town and became a comedian."
"See I could do that, and as tempting as it sounds I really don't wanna leave this place. I like it here, my school, my friends, it's where my mom is, the diner. Speaking of letting me seat the lady who just came in and I'll be back."
"Don't worry about me, Rogers. I got all the time in the world," she said sending him a smile and raising her glass as if to wave goodbye. Steve shook his head and walked over to grab a menu. Natasha watched him, why did he have to act like that? It really made her actually wanna- wait.
She watched as Steve walked up to a blonde, a blonde that looked all too familiar. That isn't possible. It can't be. No. This has to be a joke. One big fucking joke. She wouldn't.
"Natalia!" The girl yelled and waved at her. "Natalia! It's me Natalia!" she yelled even louder. "Natalia. It's me." Natalia groaned and watched as her friend ran over to her and Steve stood there confused.
"Yelena." She sighed as the blonde came up to her with a smile on her face.
"Suprise!" she smiled. "Aren't you just so happy that I am here right now?"
"What are you doing here Yelena?" She asked, skipping right to the point. "Why aren't you back in Russia?"
"I am here for you! To save you from boredom," she smiled. "I can see that you really need me," She looked around the diner, "This place is very... quaint."
"How long are you here for?" She asked.
"A month. I don't know, I haven't decided yet." She smiled. "My parents could hardly care, you know how they are, I have Madame B following me," That was her tutor, "so I am good. Now you, you seem like you need help."
"I don't need help," she answered. "I am fine where I am."
"What? Natalia, you shouldn't be here, you should be home. With your parents." she said taking a seat beside the red hair.
"My parents sent me here Yelena, I am where I am supposed to be." She was still upset that her parents sent her away. She didn't want to talk about them.
"But-"
"No buts Yelena, I am not going home. I am here for the rest of the year." She sternly told her friend.
"You have it all back home." Yelena said. "what does America have that you can't have back in Russia?"
"Well-"
"Hey, I don't mean to interrupt but can I get you anything? Nat would you like anything else?" Yelena turned to look at Steve, she hadn't really gotten a good look at him when she first walked in.
"And who are you?" she spoke in a low voice, her Russian accent deep. Steve was quite shocked by her behavior, he knew he didn't look like the small kid he was a few months ago, instead, he was now taller than Bucky and muscles as strong as Thor, even so, he wasn't used to being hit on.
"Steve, Steve Rogers," He held up his hand for her, a smirk was on Yelena's face as she reached out to shake it.
"Yelena Belova. I can see why Natalia likes it here."
"Natalia?" He asked.
"That would be me." She sighed. "My birth name, but as I have told Yelena, I go by Natasha so don't start calling me that, " Natasha said focusing her attention back on her meal.
"relax Natalia," Yelena smirked. "so handsome, how do you know my big sister here?"
"We go to school together,"
"Lucky her," She said staring at Steve with so much intenseness that it was making Steve nervous.
"We are good Steve, we don't need anything," she said. Steve nodded and walked away into the back room.
"Tell me Natalia, is he taken? A man like that has to have a girl? I mean not that I would mind, I wouldn't mind sinking my teeth in-"
"Yelena cut it out." She said. "If you are going to stay here you can't say things like that."
"What happened to you? You used to be such fun." she frowned. "Now come on, I saw a hidden corner on my way here let's get out of this dump."
"I have plans with my host parents Yelena." She said picking up her backpack about to leave.
"You're gonna leave me here?" She frowned. "I came all this way for you, why don't we just talk like adults."
"Because that's not we are. I have things to do," She frowned. "Goodbye, Yelena."
"You're so lame!" She yelled as the redhead left. "I'll just text you." She signed but Natasha was already out of the diner. Yelena was left alone at the counter and that's when her eyes laid back on Steve.
"Hey gorgeous," She smiled and Steve looked up at her and walked over to her.
"Can I help you?"
"You sure can." She said. "You and my sister seem extremely close. I can't seem to understand what's the matter with her."
"You could probably understand that better than me," Steve laughed. "I just met Natasha,"
"Hmm, a shame. But enough about Natalia, let's talk about you. I would love to get to know one of Natalia's friends." she moved closer to him. "She seems to really like you."
"Really? I apparently can't read her as well as you then." Yelena smiled at his words.
"No one can. But as I said I did not call you over to talk about my dear sister but to talk about you. Tell me about yourself. Do you play sports? Surely someone who looks like you," her eyes traced his body, "Is playing something. Perhaps someone."
"No" Steve blushed, "I am not seeing anyone. Or playing any sports. I am thinking about trying out for the football team. Try out are in the next couple of days. But I am not sure."
"You should. I think you would be good."
"Do you really believe that?" He asked rather surprised.
"Oh yes. In fact," She pulled out his phone that was sticking out of his front pocket. Her fingers lingering over his hip. "if you text me. I will be there to cheer you on."
"Oh, you don't have to do."
"But I want to," Yelena said. "I believe you can get on the team, Steve."
"Why are you being so nice to me?" He asked.
"a friend of Natalia's is a friend of mine." She looked him over once more. "Or maybe more."
"Oh umm," he said, blushing more from nervousness than anything else.
"Can I meet with you again Steve?" She asked. "My sister was rather upset with me and I feel like I don't know a thing about this place, would you mind showing me around? Say tomorrow?"
"Oh um,"
"It would really help me. I wouldn't want to walk down the wrong neighboorhood." Steve was just too nice and innocent that he didn't understand what he was agreeing to.
"Sure." He said.
"After school then? I will pick you up."
"You have a car?" he asked.
"Of course. But it's a rental. My car is back home." she smiled. "I am glad that I get someone to like you to show me around town. Thank you, Steve."
"No problem," He managed to let out. "See you tomorrow."
"Tomorrow. See you tomorrow handsome. Don't forget to text me," She slid his phone back into his front pocket, letting her fingers slid up his thigh. Steve frowned and then she left the diner.
