It's been two weeks since Steve and Natasha had a conversation and nothing much has happened since then. Steve and Yelena's relationship is not the best and Steve could tell that it was slowly coming to a close. He needed some advice.

"You have a hot rich girlfriend and you want to break up with her Steve?" Steve had made the mistake of coming to Bucky for help. "Is there something wrong with you?"

"I just... I don't feel anything."

"We are in high school, no one feels anything." He claimed. "Look, Steve, homecoming is next week, you and I are on the football team, more importantly, you are a football team captain, you need a date to the dance."

"First of all, I don't need a date. Second of all, I just think in order for both of us to be happy we can't be with each other."

"Steve please don't do that." Bucky groaned. "You finally have a girlfriend! Dude. I don't see what you have to ruin that."

"You are not being a very supportive best friend Buck."

"No? Well, personally I don't really care." Bucky groaned. "You are going to regret this so much."

"I think it's best. She deserves someone who can make her happy, and my heart is not it." He said.

"You are gonna break her heart, Steve."

"She will be okay, I know that. Plus she has already expressed many times how this thing between us was temporary and won't last long." He said. "I am just pushing the inedible."

"You are an idiot. Have I mentioned that?"

"Only a few times Buck."

"Good, because you are." He sighed. "Well good news is there will be plenty of other women around here dying to date the high school football team captain. Use that title if you may, it is an honor and a whole lot of responsibility."

"You are full of shit,"

"Language Steve!" Bucky cried out. "Okay, now that we have discussed how you're an idiot, let's go, I am meeting Connie up at your dinner and promised her a shake on the house."

"Do you even have money for a shake?"

"No, that's why it's on the house."

"Why do I let you do things like this?" Steve groaned. "Sometimes I really question myself."

"Come on Steve, those shakes won't make themselves!" Bucky called out as he was already walking away from him. Sometimes he really hated having such a girl-crazy best friend.

The next day.

Natasha was trying to find her pencil in her locker, she couldn't find it and it was her very last one! She had boughten at least a pack of 50 before school started and had seemed to lost every single one and it wasn't even October yet! Who is steeling them?

"Did you hear the news girls?" Natasha, unfortunately, had her locker not far from Sharon Carter and her group of annoying popular girls. Sharon was nice enough, she wasn't really mean it was more that she was boy crazy. Especially boy crazy for boys who so happened to be named 'Steve.' When it came to boys she was a jerk, however, if she's anywhere else she is a somewhat tolerable person.

"What is it?" Someone else asked.

"I heard Steve Rogers is finally breaking up with his girlfriend," What? Natasha was beyond shocked, she could also practically see the smile on Carter's face.

"where did you hear that?"

"I heard James blabbering about it Stark this morning. Apparently Steve doesn't feel anything."

"Does this mean you are gonna get with him?" Another asked.

"I am. Steve Rogers and I will be homecoming king and queen just you see."

"You are and him are going to be the best couple. Totally going to win the king and queen."

"I heard he's going to break up with her very soon, and when he does I will approach him," Sharon said. "Come on, I can't be late,"

Natasha was almost in shock, was this actually true? She hated to admit but she almost felt relieved, she didn't know why. But then as the thoughts settled in her, was he really going to break up with Yelena? Break her heart?

Too much of Natasha's surprise, Yelena was behaving a lot differently towards Steve than to any of her other boyfriends. She actually went out, allowed Steve to take her to places that she would never even step foot in before now. She knew that Yelena was actually really enjoying this relationship.

Natasha was actually kind of jealous. She didn't know what she was jealous of. Was she jealous that Yelena had someone? Or was it that Yelena had Steve? No. That wasn't it.

She didn't like Steve, she really didn't like Steve that way. The thought alone just made her cringe. He was the epitome of the perfect American, for crying out loud his favorite sport to watch was baseball, he was a football team captain, he tall and blonde, and his favorite dessert is pie!

She was Russian. Her personality clashed with his, she hated pie, she was a short and redhead, she hated sports (what is the point) and personally she really didn't like the politic shit he talks about during class ALL the time. That kind of stuff never bored her. So no she didn't like Steve.

The only logical explanation was that she was angry with Steve for telling other people he was going to break up with Yelena, making her a laughing stock, before he even told her. It was heartless.

She decided to have a talk with the perfect boy himself, slamming her locker closed she walked over to where Steve's locker where he was surrounded by his friends.

He had a smile on his face and it only made her angry, how could he stand there so no constantly knowing he was planning on hurting her best friend.

"Nat good to see you" Clint walked up to her stopping her from practically attacking Steve.

"Wha? Now is not the time Clint."

"You and I are going to homecoming together." He said as a matter of fact.

"What? ew, why?" She asked pushing his arm away from her shoulder.

"Laura got a date for homecoming!"

"Oh good for her, look I have to go-"

"No not good for her, don't you see the problem? Laura can't be with other guys, because if she's with other guys she not with me." Clint exaggerated.

"Than good for her," She said. "She has finally come to the conclusion that's she not gonna sit around and wait for you to do whatever it is you wanted to do."

"Look I really like this girl," Clint sighed. "I actually like her, not like crushing on her because she's hot, I mean she is, but she's much more than that-"

"Look I don't really need to hear your incredibly long reasons why she's the one for you and why you need to be with her." She sighed. "How would I going with you even help your problem?"

"Because she'll see that I am taken and she'll get jealous."

"That's a recipe for disaster."

"Will you do it?" She stared at him with annoyance, the bell would ring soon and she needed to talk to Steve if she didn't agree she'd be here forever.

"Fine. But I swear to god Clint if you start telling people we are an item now your gonna lose any chance of having a family with Laura." Clint smiled and nodded.

"Thanks you won't regret this."

"That's a lie." She muttered but he was already leaving, probably to tell Laura he had a date for homecoming. She shook her head and then continued on her mission to go and yell at Steve.

Steve was surrounded by Bucky, Tony and Thor chatting about who knows what when Natasha walked up, Steve was about to smile and greet her when she began yelling.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" She asked shutting up the guys entirely.

"Excuse me?" Steve asked confused why she was yelling at him. "What are you talking about?"

"Like you don't know." She hissed.

"I don't." He looked at Bucky and Tony who only shrugged, Tony as an amused look on his face.

"Oh then please let me break it down for you," She said meant as sarcasm but Steve spoke up.

"That would be nice."

"You are gonna break up with Yelena? You went around and told the whole fucking school before you even talk to her? Are you serious? What kind of heartless person does that? She doesn't even go here and people who don't know her are laughing at her. She's a joke!"

"Wait what? I mean yeah I was going to break up with her but I was going to talk to her about it I swear." Steve said. "I only told one person-" he stopped and looked at Bucky with a glare.

"What? I only told Stark!" He claimed.

"Why did you tell anyone at all!" Steve yelled.

"Because I thought you wouldn't care!" Bucky defended. "Look man I am sorry, but it's not like you liked her anyways."

"Seriously Barnes? She is a person, someone who has been hurt before. She doesn't need to be treated this way. You all are a bunch of assholes."

"Listen, Nat, I am sorry, it was a mistake." Steve tried. "But I promise I will talk to her, whatever the school is saying isn't true. I never said anything bad about her."

"You can't make this right. She doesn't know and when you tell her she will be crushed. She cares about her image Steve!"

"I know and-"

"No, you don't know, because if you knew you wouldn't have done that. She cares about you, I know she doesn't say it but she does, she treats you like you hung the moon, she'll be devastated."

"I will talk to her."

"You better." She said. "I was wrong you all are a bunch of assholes." And with that, she walked away. Gosh, she didn't know she was so damn protective over Yelena. It was almost endearing. She sighed and began walking to class, hoping that Yelena wouldn't be too crushed.

"And I never found a pencil." She sighed. Today was one hell of a day.
