little old crush
"You're late Ms.Romanoff," Mr. Coulson announced as she walked into her first-period class. She was only ten minutes late. Was that even considered being late? It shouldn't.
"Sorry I was sitting in my car listening to sad music starring out at the sky acting like I am in a movie." She didn't have a car. But Maria did. If it was up to Maria they would have ditched. But neither wanted to explain to their parents and host parents where they were all day.
"Just take a seat," he said, she smirked and walked over to Steve who was shaking his head towards her.
"What?" She asked pulling out her English book. "Can't a girl have some fun around here?"
"He's gonna start to hate you, do you really want that?" She gave him a knowing smirk.
"He can hate me, but there is nothing he can do about it." She smiled proudly at him before settling in her seat and drowning out all the noise around her.
Later that day, as per usual Natasha met up with Maria in the computer area. As she walked toward the area she saw Sam casually walk out of there, not noticing her at all. Hm, interesting. Natasha couldn't help but smirk just a little bit and she walked in she had to bite her lip as a way to not immediately yell at Maria and ask if he and Sam were dating.
"It's about time you get here Romanoff," Maria commented.
"doesn't seem like you minded very much," she said under her breath.
"What was that?" Maria raised an eyebrow towards her.
"Oh nothing," Natasha smiled sitting down beside her friend.
"Why are you acting weird?"
"Why are you being suspicious?" Natasha shot back.
"Why are you acting like you know something?"
"Why are you so afraid of me knowing something?" Natasha continued to answer her questions with some of her own.
"Why are you acting like this?"
"Why are-"
"Okay enough," Maria finally said. "What do you know."
"I don't know anything...yet. I have some suspicions of what I know but I could always be wrong." Natasha smugly said while taking out her lunch, which was chicken alfredo for anyone wondering, courtesy of Kennedy.
"Can you just tell me what's going on?" She asked.
"Fine." She put down her food. "Maria are you and Wilson dating?"
"What?" She asked.
"I saw him walking out of here, and you two disappeared at the party." Natasha was smiling at her friend. Maria's face was turning brought red.
"So what? You disappeared with Matt and Steve," She pointed out.
"You are aren't you!" She smiled. Maria only put her head down on the table and groaned. "You are dating Wilson. This is the greatest thing that ever has happened,"
"You can't tell anyone, Natasha, I swear to god." She threatened when she finally lifted her head. "I mean it."
"Oh don't worry I won't but what happened to him not being your type?" She teased.
"No I said him trying to start parties is not my type," She said. "We didn't stay at the party."
"Maria, did you sleep with him?"
"NOO," She yelled. "He took me out for ice cream, and he was just so freaking sweet."
"I didn't think you liked the sweet type," Natasha said picking up her container of pasta once again and started to eat. Maria groaned and shook his head.
"Neither did I, but maybe Sam is," She was now blushing. "Oh god forget that I said that."
"Do you like him?" She asked, now getting serious.
"I think so, I don't know how much he likes me but he called me beautiful at the end of the night," She said softly, "I don't know if that means anything."
"When a boy calls you cute he likes your face. When he calls you hot he likes your body, and when he calls you beautiful he likes your heart." Natasha smiled kindly at her friend.
Maria was blushing. "Do you really think that? Do you think he will hurt me?"
"I hope not. I'd hate to have to go and find a hiding spot for his body," both girls laughed. Natasha felt very connected to Maria, something about her gave Natasha a sense of secretly, she's never had a friend like this before. It was calming.
"So what about you and Rogers?"
"There is nothing going on between me and Rogers," Natasha pointed out. "However, have you met Matt Murdock?" She asked.
"I've heard of him." She said.
"I hung out with him at the party, he seems to be on the top of my list so far."
"Careful Natasha, Matt has a reputation for being a player," Maria warned.
"Please, I can handle myself, besides I really like him. He invited me to hang out with him tomorrow." Natasha had a small smile on her face.
"Your bodyguards might not be too fond of that." Bucky and Steve seemed to always be five feet away from her, watching her ever so slightly. Normally, no one else would have noticed. But she isn't like everyone else.
"Those two are clingy idiots." She laughed. "but I don't care, cause I will go out with Matt." she smiled.
"Oh, Matt Murdock? A bold choice," A new voice came into the room. It was Clint. "Getting into the bad boys are we now?"
"Barton, why are you here?" Maria asked rolling her eyes.
"Cause I can be." He responded. "Tried to ditch, principle man caught me." he shrugged.
"you seem like you are high 95% of the time of the time Clint." Natasha was shaking her head.
"Must be my personality! Some say I am a catch." Clint smirked at the two girls who were raising an eyebrow and shaking their heads.
"Did someone who wasn't your mother say that?" Maria questioned.
"Haha," Clint rolled his eyes. "Actually, Laura told me I have a very unique way of looking at life."
"In other words you are weird but she's too polite to say it?" Laura was probably the nicest person in the world if she didn't want to hurt Clint's feelings. Natasha didn't care and she just met Clint.
See at the school everyone had a thing, Tony is the inventor, Bruce was top science student... well just neck and neck with Jane, Pepper was the one who ALWAYS had a plan, Thor was the jock, Barnes was the flirt, Sam was the dork, Steve was the artist, Darcy was the social butterfly, the list goes one. It seemed like Laura was the nice one.
"Who exactly is Laura?" Natasha asked.
"Laura," Maria said before Clint could go on a rant about her, "is the girl Clint met when he was out practicing archery one evening. She is one of the most innocent and kind people at this school, and unfortunately, Clint likes her."
"Why is that unfortunate Maria? You jealous cause all my time isn't focused on you?" Clint asked with a slit smirk.
"oh please Clint, you have the attention span of a goldfish." Maria rolled her eyes. "But that's beside the point, you see Laura, has never dated anyone, she just moved here last year and she was homeschooled her entire life, and her first day here she meets," she gestured toward Clint.
"Lucky her," Clint smirked trying to take Natasha's bowl of pasta but she kicked him in the shins. "Ow!"
"Clint is the first guy Laura became friends with, I think she should meet another guy to see what she's missing out on."
"Are you telling me she has no other guy friends?" Natasha asked.
"No because hawkeye over here keeps every guy away from her," Maria said.
"Really Clint?" Natasha asked. "Is that necessary."
"Yes it is, if you met her you would understand why," Clint said.
"And why not just ask her out?" Natasha asked, she knew why Maria objected but Maria didn't own Clint, why hasn't he asked her out yet.
"Because her father is a teacher at this school and Clint is afraid of him." Maria laughed. "Which is good for Laura."
"You know what Hill, the only reason Wilson even knows about you is because of me," Clint shot out at her. "You see Maria here was alone until she met me, then people started to know her."
"No you see, Clint bumped into in the halls spilling water all over me, that's how people know about me." Maria corrected. "Besides Sam says he's liked me since middle school."
"You really don't have to lie, Maria, we all know you put Wilson under your bi-"
"Okay," Natasha said. "as entertaining as it would be to see you two fight it out, I am bored."
"Don't go complain about us now," Maria commented. "Before you came here all the guys were someone calm. Now Tony seems even more of a crazy idiot, Steve has gone 100% protective, Bucky is either trying to date you or trying to date Steve maybe even you, who knows, and Rumlow is threatening every guy who even thinks about asking you out,"
"Woah! I never did anything to Tony," she said.
"No, but your arrival allowed him to use you as an excuse for more parties."
"First I am offended, I have only been invited to one, and second, Steve is just being nice, as, for Bucky, he is my friend. Can't I have guy friends? And as you have told me, Rumlow has always been a complete asshole."
"I guess you are right there," Maria said. "But now that you have chose none of them I feel like havoc is about to rain down on you."
"Rumlow can do whatever he wants. He doesn't bug me." Natasha replied.
"Oh Rumlow isn't the one I'm worried about, I heard Rogers has a jealous streak." Maria was smirking ear to ear.
"Rogers really?" Natasha asked rather intrigued by the concept of Steve being jealous.
"He used to kinda semi date this girl Peggy," She explained. "She's off to college now, but boy was he jealous a lot. Of course, when he was he couldn't do anything about it because he was like four feet but now, boy I can't wait to see what happens."
"This is gonna be interesting." Smiled Clint.
"I think you all are overreacting. Besides Steve doesn't like me like that. Even if he did, no offense to him, but I don't think I would ever fall for him."
"You say that now." Maria hummed.
"You all are a bunch of idiots," Natasha said.
"Thanks," Clint was smiling like an idiot. Her point stands.
"So now that we have discussed in great detail about how pathetic all of our love lives are," Natasha held up her food. "Can we eat?"
"It's about time," Clint said and moved to take her food again but Natasha was still not having it and slapped his hand away hard.
"Ow!!" He cried. Remind her again why she's friends with him?
As Natasha's lunch came to an end she received a text on her phone. She frowned and went picked up her phone- you've got to be kidding me.
