I'm privileged to be standing here to bid farewell to the seniors who have spent more time at home than in school in the past two years. I'm sure you have heard the mournful farewell stories of your elder siblings or cousins and are wondering why aren't we so heartbroken? Let me tell you it's perfectly normal for 2021 students who have spent their school days in bed and nights in gadgets. So let's discuss what you and I have missed in this pandemic.

First of all the juniors would have been happy on losing the bossy seniors who would have bullied them nonstop but no such luck on your part as we are very sad on this farewell because if we had more time together we could have created a lot more senior-junior memories.

Let us reminiscence a few of the school memories.

A minute of silence for those students who always remind the teacher that today we have a class test.

Let's give 5 stars to the class leader who has never missed being a teacher's pet and has always made us famous by writing our beautiful names on the blackboard.

Let's not forget the days we fervently wished for some subject teacher to be absent but due to our luck the Sports teacher missed school on the very day and it was replaced by two periods of the loathing subject.

The days when a few backbenchers would continuously chatter and the teacher had to turn her head from the blackboard every five minutes only to be greeted with a bunch of students who looked as innocent as lamb.

The days when we had really bad fights with our bestie and cried our hearts out. Some broken friendships take with them a piece of our heart forever.

While some friends are no less than Angel, they are the Rainbows and Candies who fill colour to the boring school life. I bet some of your high school friends are going to remain with you throughout your life and that's the most awesome gain of school life.

Some fortunate days when we missed out on our homework and were made to sit outside the class but the sadness turned out to be pure joy as we spent the detention with incredible friends.

The days we decided to check out our acting skills and faked the flu just to escape a class test, an assignment submission or the exhausting exercises.

The hours we sat in class anticipating the lunch hour and visualising the food in our friend's lunchbox.

All of us have hoped and prayed that somehow a miracle would occur and they would declare a public holiday for a day or two during the hectic schedule but what none of us had anticipated was the terrible pandemic that took away our most precious school days from us.

However, the pandemic couldn't diminish your passion for what you can achieve and who you turn out to be. Let's be people who can rise about the discrimination in the world and work towards humanity.

Go in the direction of your dreams and let the light inside you never diminish. I'll leave you with Thoreau's words "We wish you all the luck in the world before we bid you adieu."
