The Beginning
On Olympus in Hephaestus' temple 67 years since the second Titan war
Third Person POV:
Perseus was sitting at a bench, his eyes looking weary as Hephaestus was finishing up the wiring in an animatronic hand.
"Now Perseus, you'll need to get Apollo to implant that chip into your head if you want to use this. It may be magic but it still isn't connected to your thoughts alright?" Hephaestus said as he closed up the hand
"I know, may I get a lift over to his palace? I don't wish to run into Artemis or my Father" Perseus said as he stood up "I don't want to explain how I lost my hand and half of my forearm" He joked
"Very well. After everything you've done for us, this is the least we can do" Hephaestus said as he helped Perseus up and flashed him to the bright gold palace across the way
Apollo was waiting in the entrance of his palace when the two flashed in.
"Hey Cuz" Perseus said calmly as he raised up his left hand in greeting
"Hello 'General of Olympus'" Apollo said teasingly before he chuckled "You got bested by Kampe eh?"
"Yeah, she had more troops than I thought" Perseus said as Apollo lead them both to a surgical room
"Alright Percy, are you ready for this? You're 86 years old, are you sure you can make it through the surgery?" Apollo asks as they enter the room and Percy lays on the operation table
"Apollo, I may be 86, but I can't let Artemis worry about me, I have to hide this from her. I've already failed too much... I don't want to fail her again" He said as Apollo strapped him up and got him ready for the operation
"You're a good man Perseus, we'll take care of you. Besides it wouldn't be good if we lost our greatest General next to Athena" Apollo said as he injected Percy with the Anesthesia "Hephaestus do you have the chip for his new arm?"
"Of course," Hephaestus said as he got ready to implant the chip into his head
Several hours later
Perseus woke up from his groggy state with Apollo sitting next to him. He reached up and rubbed his forehead with his right hand before he froze. He pulled his hand back and took a look at the new appendage.
"I see you noticed your new hand Perce" Apollo said as he wrote some things on a clipboard "Tell me, how does it feel?" He asks and Percy flexes the fingers of his new hand
"Did Hephaestus say anything about disguising the metal of the hand" Percy asked and Apollo chuckled
"Yeah, apparently there are some voice commands, he left them on a note pad on your right side" Apollo said and Percy looked to his right and saw the note pad
He reached onto the stand and picked the notepad up; doing slow, simple, movements.
"Voice commands... Realistic touch, realistic look" He mutters as he looks at it "Activate realistic look and touch" at the command the appendage shimmered and took on the look of his skin
He then ran his hand over the new appendage and smiled.
"Thank you" He said as he got out of the bed and stood up slowly
"Come on old man, let's get you to Artemis, she is probably wondering where you are" Apollo said as he helped Percy up
Together they walked out of the palace, where they both saw Artemis storming up to them.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN JACKSON!?" Artemis growled as he smiled
"I came back from my mission and just felt a little woozy so I came to Apollo's temple to get a checkup. I am getting up the years" Percy said and Artemis narrowed her eyes but nodded
"Yeah you are getting old boy" She said with a small smirk "Come on, we have to get to the hunters' camp. We have a few new hunters that could use a bit of expert tutelage"
"Very well, lead the way milady" Percy says sarcastically as Artemis takes his left hand in her right and interlocks their fingers before flashing away
However, as the teleportation was occurring, Percy was wrenched from Artemis' grasp and he was thrown into the wall of a cave.
~
"My apologies young man, it has been a long time since I attempted to interact with anyone" A man said as he sat in a throne made of clock pieces and gears
"Who are you?" Percy growled as he draws a small dagger hilt from his waist but as he does so, the blade extends into a three footlong silver blade with a technological hilt that was a hand and a half long but as he grabbed the bottom of the hilt the blade grew until it was a total of five and a half feet and the hilt extended to fit both hands comfortably
"Ease yourself young demigod, I come not to harm you, but instead to give you an opportunity. I have watched as you have tried and failed to bring back your love's friends and family. I come bearing a gift, but it will cost you" The man said as Percy sat down after sheathing his sword into its concealed form of a dagger at his left hip
"I'm listening" Percy said and the man leaned forward and held out a pocket watch
"This will send you back to when you first encountered the mythological world, back to the museum back to the start. But you will lose everything you have, except those items that are unique to you. Your weapons, your hand, your shield" The man says but he smiles sadly "But you will lose your love, your titles, your respect, you will start from scratch" he says calmly
"I don't care about those things, I only care about making Artemis happy, and fixing the mistakes I made" Percy says tiredly as he leans back against the wall
"And why do you feel that way? You must excuse me for my prying, Like I said, it's been a long time since I last interacted with anyone" The man said and Percy smiled and chuckled
"It all started when I read that as long as there was an item of a nymph you could bring them back. I had Riptide and I thought that if I returned it to Zoe, she would return." He says sadly "Artemis is reminded of her every night and I wanted to bring her back so Artemis wouldn't feel guilt over her death. Then there is Bianca, every time I see Nico I myself am reminded of how she sacrificed herself to save us all from the Talos... and just, every mistake I ever made I want to fix them... including saving Annabeth from her demise..." He finishes and he smiles sadly
"My gift will allow you to fix those mistakes, however, you cannot save her, you were not there when it happened, as you were needed elsewhere. She was fated to die that day. I am sorry" he says and Percy nods
"I understand" He says and sits forward
"What do you say hero? Are you willing to go back? Will you take my gift?" The man says and Percy looks at him and with his tired eyes boring straight into the strange man's he nods
"Yes, I accept your gift Lord Chronos, Primordial Lord of Time" Percy says as he drops to a bow causing the old deity to chuckle
"You have no need to bow to me young hero, please rise" Chronos says as he stands up and hands Percy the pocket watch "During an hour of peril press the button and you will be sent to the beginning to start anew" Chronos finishes and Percy nods
"Everything I own that is unique to me I will keep but everything else will be lost. Correct?" Percy asks and Chronos nods
Percy looks at the pocket watch and sighs as he grips it tightly in his new hand. When he looks up to speak again, Chronos and his throne are gone and, in the distance, he can see the light of the cave's entrance. Percy stands up and starts walking, quickly exiting the cave and searches for any settlement that could be nearby. However, as he walks through the forest, he stumbles across a ring of tents with a very familiar goddess glaring at him with the force of a thousand daggers.
"You, have some explaining to do Jackson!" Artemis growled and Percy sighed and smiled slightly
