A/N: As I was writing the next chapter, I realized that when introducing these new villains there would be many questions as to how and why they ended up here. So, I decided to make a flashback chapter to how they came to where they are now. Let's take a journey with Hajime, Yang, and Kaori on how the 3 ended up in the mission "Project N.O.M.U". As well as some of the things within the story you may have been curious about lol.... what is? Well read and find out!

[Several Years Ago]
June 18th, 2007
[Location: California]

(Hajime's POV)

"...And that takes care of that! Go go go!!" Suddenly the screeching of tires ripped on the concrete as the van drove straight forward. As I let out a sigh of relief and shut the door, I couldn't help let out a huge chuckle with the accomplishment of the job.
"Oi Hajime! You managed to get it?" Spoke the driver with blond hair as he kept driving. I placed the bag with the hard drive down, I managed to steal from a hero agency here in downtown with a big smile on my face.
"Yeah! I got it, Alphonse! We need to get out of here quick and meet up with Kaori and Yang at the Rendezvous point!"
"I'm on it! Oh man, I'm so hyped! Once we get this drone to the boss, our payout is going to be stupid high!" As the excitement radiated off Alphonse, I was looking at the hard drive wondering what was this needed for?
Before I could even think of anything else, I heard the sirens.
"Ahh crap! The Feds are on our tail!" Alphonse said as he kept swerving through lanes. I looked back and saw some cop cars chasing us down which prompted me to get ready to strike.
As I opened the backdoors of the van, I started charging up my quirk. Massive amount of lightning started forming on my hands as it grew more and more intense.
Take this!" With a sudden surge of lighting striking of the palm of his hand to the cop car, the vehicle explode upward in a blaze. As it came crashing back down, taking another car with it.

Narrator: Hajime Supāku!
Quirk: Lightning Strike!
With careful and precise concentration, Hajime can strike down power bolts of lightning on top of his targets! However, he can overload himself to the point of incapacitation if his focus is thrown off in the middle of using his quirk! No room for error here!

Before I could even charge up another one, gun shots came from some of the cop cars nearly hitting me. It knocked me out of my concentration which caused a misfire of my lightning that stuck close to the Van.
"Crap! Watch it Hajime! They shooting us and now I have to worry about your lightning too?! Hajime get down and protect yourself! We are almost there!" Yelled Alphonse as he swerved trying to avoid the gunshots. I fell backwards as I tried to shut the back doors of the van. The gun fire kept coming and I was already concerned with this situation now, but Alphonse had an idea to help us.
"Yo Hajime! Hang tight!" Alphonse said as he created a shiny clone of himself that took control of the wheel as he walked to the back with Hajime.
"Hey you good?" He said as he came up to me and noticed I was still a bit off due to the gun shots.
"Yeah I'm fine. I need to get a hold of Yang and Kaori to update them on our arrival. However, we need to get rid of the cops on our tail."
"Haha! Don't worry mate, I'll take care of it." As he clapped his together to create a few more of his afterimage clones before they flung themselves out the backdoor to tackle the cop cars, causing them to crash out of shock of the sudden swarm of Alphonse clones that leaped out at them. This left many of the cars on the front row to spin out of control and crashing off to the side.
"Let the madness begin!"

Narrator: Alphonse Torikkusutā! Quirk: Afterimage! Alphonse can create illuminated clones of himself that can act on his own accord. His illuminated clones can't take too much damaged which means they disappear relatively quickly. However, his Afterimage clones create a visual distortion to those that are in the line of sight of the clone when it disappears!

"These afterimage clones of yours... they really are something." I said with relief.
Alphonse chuckled as he took out his phone and called up Kaori and Yang on his phone.
"Oi! We are coming in hot to the extraction point! Get the escape vehicle ready because we have a lot of heat on us!" As we kept driving we felt the car get hit by more bullets and we ducked as quick as we could.
"Crap they really want to kill us!" Alphonse took the wheel again and sent his decoy out the back again to case another car to crash.
"Hajime! Get ready!"
As the Van continued to swerve, I grabbed the bag and got my quirk ready to strike at any enemy outside once the van stopped. I could feel my heart beating faster from the tension... we made it this far and we are so close to making it out here alive.

Suddenly I heard Alphonse yell "Hang on!" As he turned the wheel really hard before all of a sudden, I felt the van get hit by something that sent it flying a bit before crashing down. In the sudden crash, I slammed my head upon impact and blacked out.

"Hajime."

"Hajimeeeeee."

"YO! Hajime! Wake up!"

*THWACK!*

"Ow! What the hell??" I felt a smack on my head that woke me up but... when I woke up.... I was.... somewhere else?

"W-where am I?" I said as I looked around in confusion. It was until I heard a voice from the person standing ahead of me speak out.
"You sure doze off a lot Hajime. This is why we end up delaying out trainings so often lately."
As he turned towards me and started chuckling.
"Now get up, Hajime. It time to put that quirk of yours to practice!"
"How did I end up here?" I said to myself out.
"You are here because I want to help get better at using your quirk. You never know when you need to fight and defend yourself. Especially when it's to save a friend." He said with a serious tone of voice, before shifting to a more happier tone.
"Let's do this Hajime, you know I only want the best for you. I can't always be around forever to help you... so please train hard and be ready for whatever's to come."

"His voice.... was that... my brother?"

Before I could think about it anymore, I suddenly felt my vision fade away once more. Suddenly I started hearing a faint voice in the distance.

"hajime..."

"....Hajime!..."

"HAJIME WAKE UP!" It was Alphonse yelling at me as he was bleeding on his forehead. He was shaking me around to wake me up which I came to the realization that the van was flipped over and there was the loud bangs of bullets hitting the van.
"Hajime we are going to have to try and make a run for it!" As Alphonse made a few clones that ran out the back door as a distraction for the police force that were waiting for us out there. I reached for the bag with the hard drive and got up. I was still feeling dazed but Alphonse did all he could to lift me up out of the van as I saw Kaori and Yang taking on the police force. Once Kaori saw me and Alphonse get out of the van, he yelled at Yang to fall back as we made out way to the chopper. We were getting close as some of the bodyguards got out of the chopper and started firing at the Police. That was.... until one obstacle came to the scene.

"Look! It's the Pro Hero: Absorption Man and Rainbow Fighter! " Yelled out a policeman as I looked back and saw the Pro Heroes at the scene. This was really bad! As he grabbed the door of the police car and turned his body into Metal, while the other Pro Hero covered her body in mix of green and red aura before leaping towards us.
"Incoming!" Yelled Yang as he saw both Absorption man and Rainbow Fighter coming towards us. That was when Alphonse created a large amount of clones that rushed towards the Pro heroes. However, having used his quirk so excessively, Alphonse started bleeding from his nose as well as coughing up blood. When I saw this, it immediately woke me up and brought me back to my senses.

Once I regained control of myself, I got off of Alphonse's shoulder and turned around to face the pro heroes who were taking on the clones, which gave me the idea that can help us make our escape.
"Yang, Kaori, Alphonse! Cover your eyes!"
They quickly shielded their eyes as I took a deep breath, slowly creating a large amount of static energy off my hands.
"I'm not about to let any of us fail this mission!"
"Electric Flashbang!" As I blasted the lightning towards the clones that surrounded the Pro Heroes. With the lightning striking all the clones, it causes them to explode, creating a massive visual distortion from Alphonse's clones side effects. This nearly blinded the Heroes and Police men as well send a shockwave that hit them all, giving us plenty of time to make a run to the Helicopter. I grabbed Alphonse to help him get to the Chopper. As we were taking off we heard gunshots striking the chopper, and before I knew it, Alphonse was struck by several bullets to his arm and chest.

"Alphonse!" I yelled out as I quickly tried to cover up the bullet wounds. Yang and Kaori were trying to close the doors as quick as they could to avoid more incoming bullets.
"Crap... I wasn't expecting to be... the one to go down like that." He said as he kept coughing up blood from both his drawback of his quirk as well as the bullet wounds he received. I was getting distressed from this scenario as I was just seeing my friend brutally injured as I heard the co-piolt yell out. "We are getting a call from the boss!"
I stood up and said "I'll take the call. You guys keep trying to patch the wounds." Yang and Kaori nodded as they continued to take care of Alphonse. I was already feeling distressed from my partner being wounded, but I have to keep my composure... especially with the boss.
"This is Hajime, Sir"
"Did you get the drive?"
"Yes sir."
"Good. Did you keep it in one piece?"
"Y-yes. The drive is still in one piece with no damages."
"I'm glad I could count on your team. I assume you ran into some trouble?"
Yeah, we had an encounter with two pro heroes. One of them had a quirk that covered their body in some color of Aura, and the other one had a strange absorption quirk that turned him into whatever he was touching. I think his name was Absorption Man."
There was silence on the other line. Not even breathing... just dead air.
"Did you say... that you encountered the pro hero Absorption Man?" The Boss said with a curious but also concern tone of voice.
"Yes Sir, but we were able to clear ourselves away from them."
"Thank you for this information. I'll give you and your men a bonus for this as well. We will meet each other soon." As he responded, the call cut off.

I don't know why out but that was very strange. In fact... why did the Boss give us a bonus for just telling him about the location of some Pro hero? Well... I can't do much now. Especially since I just heard the notification from my phone from the deposit for the mission. Suddenly a bonus of an additional 50% of the payout was sent with a Note.
"You and your Men have done well, so you may take a break for the time being. I'll be in touch...."

[A Month Later]
August 7th, 2007
[Location: Hosu City, Japan]
Hajime's POV

"I wonder what the boss has in store for us next." Said Yang as he lit his cigarette outside the Hospital.
We were taking a smoke break after waiting in the hospital for so long. It turns out Alphonse was hit in the critical parts of his chest that left him incapacitated during the mission. He has been trying to recover but it only seemed to get worse and worse. It was deeply worrying as my friend wasn't showing signs of getting better. However, I suddenly felt my phone vibrate. It was a call... from.... the Boss's Assistant?
"This is Hajime."
"Ah Hajime. This is Yoto Regikuga... I believe I have some terrible news. Our Boss... Mr. Kaitai was killed."
I felt my eyes widen up in shock. "What?! The boss is dead?!"
Yang shook in shock as he looked at me with confused eyes.
"Yes... it would seem he was killed by the Absorption Man. It seems we really have got a mess here at our agency now. However, with the data we acquired from the other Agency, the program will continue as intended. For now, I must inform you that you will be working with another boss for the time being. I'll text you the information as well as the location you will report to. I'll stay in touch if I need anything."
"Yes Mr. Regikuga." As I hung up the phone and let out a sigh of disbelief.

"So our Boss is dead, huh? What the hell happened."
I was looking at the phone and remembered the note he sent, as well as the bonus for telling him about the pro hero.
"You remember that pro hero we dealt with back in California?"
"You mean that white haired dude that was absorbing the metal on the police car that turned his whole body metal?"
"That one... turns out the boss went after him in California and got himself killed by him."
"Holy crap... to think that he could have killed us that day as well if he had the chance." As Yang took another puff of his cigarette.
"Yeah... I wouldn't have imagined the boss to have any issue either... considering he is extremely strong with that quirk of his. I guess we really came off lucky to not be caught up fighting with that Pro hero."
Before I could say anything else, my phone vibrated with a text that had the location information of where we needed to report to. "Yang, we got our new location to where we are going to stay at. For now... we will have to wait on some new orders from the new boss that will be giving us some jobs to do."
Yang took a few more puffs before looking back at me.
"Well... as long as they are paying good then I don't see any issue at all. It just sucks that the boss we worked with for a long time was just killed... and by a pro hero at that. It just sucks to hear this... especially with our friend Alphonse still in bad condition."
Yang wasn't too happy about the situation either but this was all we had for now. Might as well make the most it.

It seems... what was next for our journey... was going to be the start of something more dangerous than any other job we have ever taken before.

Our new boss.... was Doctor [REDACTED]
Was about to expose us to something far more inhumane than anyone could ever think of.
