Random Acts of Kindness
A shrill shriek could be heard as Robin surveyed the city. He quickly dashed towards the sound of the yell only to be met with the sight of a masked man holding a gun up to a woman's face,"Give me your purse, or you die."
The (probably) thirty year old woman looked terrified as she complied and handed the man her purse. The thief then began searching through her purse to see what he had earned himself. Robin took this as an opportunity to sneak up on the man and snatch the purse from within from his grasp.
"Who do you think you are?" The man turned around and sent a glare,"Leave, before you get yourself hurt."
Robin laughed,"Cute. You're trying to be scary... Look, I'm just giving the woman her purse back. If you want, I can give you some tips later on how to be scary, but right now, I'm just tryna' be nice."
The man looked furious as he swung his left fist towards Robins face, but Robin easily caught his fist. The man tried to counter with his right fist, but before his fist could hit its target, Robin kicked the mans feet from under him, knocking him over, and punching him hard on the face, causing him to fall unconscious.
Robin smiled as he handed the woman her purse," Here you go!"
"Thank you so much!" She wrapped her arms around Robin out of joy and gratefulness. He normally would have tensed up and jumped back at a hug, but recently he had been helping people who were in situation much like this one. The other day he had actually saved someone who he was constantly stealing from. So, the man repaid Robin for saving him by giving him a bunch of food from his store.
"It's no problem, Ma'am" He nodded as he aimed his grappling hook and was shot up onto a nearby rooftop. He continued by heading towards his apartment room.
It had been two weeks since he was shot and he hadn't seen Batman since. Then again, he wasn't exactly looking for Batman. He didn't even want to see Batman. He wasn't exactly sure why, but he just felt strange after Batman had helped him. Batman had called him a criminal. Meaning that he was a bad person. So, why would Batman help him? Shouldn't he have just left him to die? Why did he go out of his way just to help Robin?
If the Court found out that Batman helped Robin, they would kill Batman. Batman was putting his life on the line and he didn't even know it....
Then again, he did put his life on the line every night by dressing up as a bat.
Robin sighed as these thoughts passed his mind. Dick didn't even get to say thank you.
Once Dick reached the apartment, he no longer felt like resting in his room. So, he went up to the roof to stare at the stars. He had always done it with his parents when he was younger. He had loved observing the bright stars as his father would point out the different constellations and his mother would tell him stories, whether they related to the stars would not. Robin remembered always wanting to learn all the constellations, but he had never actually learned much.
Though, in Gotham, there wasn't much stars in the city. There were very few, but not enough to take someones breathe away. Just a couple of stars. The city lights stole the sight from the stars, unlike the country areas.
Dick sighed and was about to get up when he saw something in the sky. The thing was practically invisible, but he could still make out its shape. What is that?
He quickly stood to his feet as he realized that it seemed to be flying and headed somewhere.
So, completely confused and curious as to what it was, Robin decided to follow it. It somewhat looked like an aircraft attempting to camouflage, but his real question was, what and who are in the ship?
---
Robin had thought he had lost the ship for good until he heard a loud commotion in a nearby building.
He looked inside and was surprised (and a little excited) when he saw who was inside. It was that weird team he had met! They were all there, and they appeared to be fighting a group of criminals, but they were highly outnumbered.
The boy with an "S" on his chest seemed to be fighting several at a time, knocking most out with just one punch (which Robin found to be pretty cool). He was practically throwing the thugs around with his great strength.
The green girl was somehow throwing the criminals without even touching them (which Robin seemed to find even cooler).
The other female was quickly drawing arrows and using them to subdue the criminals. Her arrows often exploding at contact.
There was the fish boy who had these strange water-like-swords and he was using them to attack, the tattoos on his skin beginning to glow.
And then, there was the kid in yellow. He seemed to be moving at a fast speed, but was stopped when he a certain criminal seemed to be putting up more of a fight than the rest. Noticing his distraction, a thug stood and began to load his gun behind the teenager.
"You have got to be kidding with me..." Robin complained as he stepped out of the shadows and quickly pulled the teen out of the way before the trigger was pulled. Robin then proceeded by attacking both thugs and rendering them unconscious [1].
The kid looked complete amazed and shocked,"Y-you just saved my life!"
"I guess." Robin muttered as he began looking for an exit, suddenly feeling awkward. He had saved already saved two heroes. Wasn't he supposed to be a Talon? A murderer, who didn't save anyone, but themselves. Though, saving these two lives had just proven just how wrong his Uncle was about him. Dick wasn't a murderer. He didn't want to hurt anyone.
"Thanks," The ginger then stuck out his hand as he looked back to make sure that no criminals were sneaking up and to make sure that his team was okay," I'm Kid Flash."
"Good for you, but I'm gonna go now." Robin began to walk away leaving Kid Flash's hand hanging in the air.
"Seriously, dude?"
The fish boy then walked up and nodded,"Thank you for saving Kid Flash's life. I am Aqualad," He then began naming all of his team members," This is Artemis, Superboy, and Miss Martian."
"Well, no problem, I guess. I actually saved Batman the other day from some freakish clown guy, but you can ask him for the details on that." Robin gloated, actually hoping they would ask Batman about that night," Though I really should get going so...." He tossed a smoke pellet on the floor and took that as his opportunity to leave.
---
Robin was heading back to his room in the apartment but stopped near an electronic store. Several televisions could be seen playing through the clear glass. They all seemed to have a different station on, but what distracted Robin was the television that was broadcasting the news channel.
"Robin, the Boy Wonder," The reporter began,"He is a young boy who has recently been reported saving many people. He has even been seen with Batman! Does this mean that the Dark Knight has finally gotten himself a sidekick?"
The Boy Wonder? Robin smirked,"Wait until Batman hears this."
"Hears what?" Robin jumped and quickly turned to face the Dark Knight sending him a slight glare for almost giving him a heart attack while muttering something incoherent under his breath.
"Gotham's calling me their Boy Wonder." Robin smiled.
Batman said nothing as he saw the news report," Why are you helping people?"
Robin slightly frowned,"Why does anyone do anything?" He noticed that Batman still took him for a criminal even after he had saved several lives.
Too bad too, Robin thought they had bonded the night he got shot.
Batman sent him a glare, but it seemed to have no effect on Robin.
"Oh, and Batsy, I saw your little team tonight. The fast one almost got himself killed." Robin shook his head as if he was disappointed," Lucky for him, I was there."
"Stay away from the team." Batman growled as he turned away and began to leave.
