Meet the Team
Robin had never woken up so upset in his life, and he had woken up to some pretty bad things before.
The team had actually trapped him! And to think that he saved Kid Flash's life.... All for what?
He was in a small room with nothing in it but a table, and two chairs (one of which he was sitting in). The exit seemed to be so close, but the handcuffs keeping him bound to the table prevented him from escaping.
The door then opened, surprising Robin. He was then met with the sight of Batman.
"Robin."
"Batman." Robin said trying to mimic Batmans tone of voice, which Batman did not find funny.
Batman then pulled out the chair on the other side of the table, seating himself.
"Why did you come to visit the team?"
"Cause you said not to." Robin stated as if it were obvious.
Batman glared,"Why did you save Kid Flash?"
"Why not?" Robin shrugged putting up a facade. It's not like he wanted Kid Flash to die. Sure, he didn't know the kid very well, but he didn't deserve to die. No one did. No matter what they might have done.
"Why did you save me? You put your life on the line so I wouldn't die. You also helped me with Poison Ivy."
"Ivy? The plant? I didn't help you with a poison ivy rash."
"That is her name." Batman replied sternly.
"Who names their kid Poison Ivy?" Robin laughed," Her parents must hate her! I almost feel bad."
Batman remained silent for a while before finally replying," What is your name?"
"You forgot my name already? It's Robin."
"What's your real name?"
"What's your real name?"
"That is none of your business."
"Then why should I tell you my name?"
"I can just take off your mask."
"Why don't you then?"
Batman paused,"Where are your parents?"
"Clark."
"What?"
"Is your name Clark? You look like a Clark?"
"My name is not Clark."
Robin clicked his tongue," It's a shame. You would have made a nice 'Clark'."
"Why won't you tell me your name?"
"You aren't telling me your name." Robin stated simply.
"You do not need to know my name. I am a hero. You are a threat. Someone who may put the lives of others in danger."
Robin tensed,"I am not a threat. I have no intention to harm anyone."
"I don't know that."
"You think I want to kill people? I don't. I saved you, didn't I? I also saved Kid Flash."
"Your fighting style says otherwise."
And that's when Robin grew extremely upset. He had no intention of harming anyone. He was putting his own life on line so others didn't have to die.
"I don't want to kill anyone. I'm not some threat! Yeah, okay, I may not seem like an exact hero or good guy, but that doesn't mean anything! I can't kill someone. I refused to! That's the exact reason why I ran from the C-" Robin stopped himself as he realized that he was revealing too much.
"Where did you run from?"
"No where." Robin looked as if he had just seen a ghost. He let his emotions control him. He had been trained to control himself, but he just lost it. He almost spilled everything to Batman.
"Why did you run? Were these people trying to make you kill someone? Is that what you were trained for?"
Robin said nothing. He couldn't even look at Batman. He was so close to discovering the truth. If only Robin hadn't been so stupid and given so much away...
"Fine, if you won't tell me anything, then I'm not sure whether you are a threat or not. So, I believe that you should go on the mission with the team. I will have it arranged as soon as possible. Your skills definitely prove that the mission will end in success."
"You're joking right?" Robin frowned. He did not want to go on some mission with the team. He wanted to go back to his little apartment room and sulk.
"No, not at all." Batman then proceeded by standing up and pulling something forward, which Robin had not noticed before. And then before Robin could react, a strange collar-like-device was around his neck.
"What is this?!" He attempted prying it off of his neck.
"It is a collar that will send an electric shock through your body if necessary."
"You can't do that!" Robin growled.
"Yes, I can, and I will."
Robin groaned. He knew there was no way out of this.
"So, I will prepare a room for you for tonight and you will join the team on a mission as soon as possible."
---
Robin wished he could save an image of the team members expressions when Batman told them that he would be joining their next mission. It was priceless.
Their expressions were a mixture of confusion, shock, and caution.
"Why is he joining us?" Superboy blurt out.
"He has skills that prove to be useful." He then handed the small remote that controlled his electric shock collar to Aqualad, and explained the need for it.
"Come on, team, you don't want me joining you?" Robin pouted as Batman left.
"You're a criminal." Artemis stated.
"Just so you know, I only steal. And it's not like I'm robbing anything that's extremely expensive anyways."
"I mean.... He did save my life..." Kid Flash spoke up," Maybe he could actually be useful, or at least bearable."
Robin perked up,"See, this kid knows what he's talking about."
Kid Flash shrugged as his team members sent him looks. Then after an awkward moment of silence, Robin asked,"Wait- So, Miss Martian-right? Why are you green? Was it some freak accident? Did you eat way to many veggies as a kid or something?"
She smiled, not seeing him as a threat,"Well, I am a Martian."
Robin laughed,"Funny, but seriously, what happened?"
She raised an eyebrow,"I am a Martian."
Robin let out a forced laugh,"Yeah, but you know, aliens don't exist...."
"You haven't heard of Superman?" Artemis asked.
"Super who? I know Superboy." Robin then continued by gesturing to Superboy.
"Dang, where have you been living your whole life?" Kid Flash asked causing Robins expression to darken. Though, Robin quickly shook his thoughts away, not before the team had noticed though.
"...So, what you're trying to tell me is that aliens are actually real?" Robin couldn't seem to wrap his mind around that. Ever since he was a child, he was told they weren't real, but now there was a real life alien standing right in front of him.
Miss Martian nodded.
"Oh my God....,"He then pointed at Kid Flash,"You seemed to be moving very fast at that warehouse, how? Are you an alien too? Is everyone here an Alien?! Are you going to probe me?"
"Super speed. And, ew no, I'm totally human. It was a freak science accident. Long story." Kid Flash smirked as he got up and demonstrated by running around at high speeds.
"What? I- I- Did you guys slip some kind of drugs into my food?" He felt as if he had just walked into a comic book. Everything about this seemed completely surreal.
Robin then turned to Superboy,"What can you do?"
"Super strength, enhanced sight and vision, and I can jump great heights." Super strength? Robin felt like he needed to calm down.
Then he turned to Aqualad, which earned him a reply.
"I am Atlantean. I can breathe underwater and do other things that most Atlanteans can do."
"Atlantean? As in the lost city of Atlantis? Okay, now I know that you guys are pranking me. Alien, Atlantis, man, you guys got me good."
M'gann's figure then changed to look similar to Robins with a few exceptions.
Robin jumped back,"So, you're not kidding."
Aqualad nodded.
"You guys are so weird...."
He then turned to Artemis,"What about you?"
She put her hands out,"Just human." This caused Robin to smile. At least he knew that he wouldn't be left out now since he was only human as well. Though, he frowned slightly wondering if she had felt left out until he arrived.
"Maybe this mission won't be too bad" He mumbled as he realized that the team was way cooler than he first believed. All he had to do was go through one simple mission and he could be on his way out. How hard could that be?
And that's it! Well, FYI the next chapter will be taking longer than expected since I will have to be copying an episode word for word. Usually, I post an update every week, but I cannot guarantee that so, I will try my best. Thanks for reading!
-Also, thanks @PickaUsername for making me a new cover!
