Chapter Seven: Bellum se ipsum alet
Bellum se ipsum alet ~ War feeds itself
Sawyer
"What the hell is going on?!"
The entire gallery erupts in horror and intrigue as a fight breaks out pool side between Floyd and some chav from that Irish school.
I gasp openly as I watch that boy viciously attack Floyd, punching him in the face continuously. I can't see exactly what's going down because of how far away we're sat, but something that stands out to me is this ball of fiery red hair.
For some reason I can't stop staring at him, his long locks fall just above his shoulders and his green eyes piercing as he stares at the scene unfolding. He's just standing there watching his friend beat up my boyfriend and he's just standing there! I suddenly fill with all this rage I can't comprehend; I feel like I'm about to explode.
"I told you he's not the goody two shoes you think he is..." River decided now is the perfect time to pipe up again and try to piss me off.
"Fuck off River." I bite harshly as I get up out of my seat. I can see the lifeguards have already broken up the fight and by the state of Floyds face I can only expect they're taking him to the infirmary.
"Where you going?" Darcey asks.
"The infirmary to try and see Floyd."
"Do you want us to come with?" Quinn asks.
"No, it's fine I should go alone... plus you guys need to stay and watch Emma; her race is soon."
The girls nod and wish me luck, River won't even look at me as I walk past him to leave the stands. I don't understand why he's decided to come back so nasty. I should be the angry one not him...
I finally arrive at infirmary and the nurse tells me which room Floyd's in. Hopefully he doesn't have to share with that animal and gets his own room.
I softly knock on the door before letting myself in. I open it to see Floyd lying there on one of the beds, an ice pack pressed onto his nose.
"Hey babe, what you doing here?" He winces as he takes the ice pack off his face.
"I wanted to see how you were, I saw that psycho from that state school jump you by the pool."
"I'm good, even better now that you're here." He leans in to kiss me before flinching when our noses touch.
"Oh god, sorry babe." I say with a laugh as he lies back down on the bed. "I'll go get you some more ice."
I open the door, leaving the room on my mission to find a nurse, and I see him. The ginger kid from the pool, leaving the room across from mine. He's obviously just left his mates room, the one that beat up my poor Floyd. But the first thing I notice is he doesn't have a shirt on...
I know I shouldn't stare, Floyd's in the room right behind me for god's sake! But I can't stop myself from looking at his abs. I then start to make my way up from his broad shoulders to his face. His piercing blue eyes stare back at me, or are they green? The more I look the less I can tell.
His face is unreadable, and the more I look, the more I want to figure it out...
"Babe! The ice? God my face is killing me!"
And just like that I'm pulled from whatever reverie I was under and finally came back to my senses. This is the guy that started it all! This is the guy that got his crazy friend to jump my boyfriend! And you know what? Fuck him!
My face hardens and twists to an expression of pure malice. I slowly walk a few steps towards him, look deep into his beautiful ocean eyes and give him the finger.
What an arse...

The sound of my Mary Janes echo down the hallway as I try to find my way back to the pool. Hopefully I get back in time for Emma's race. I slow down to a halt as I hear the sound of girls giggling drift down the corridor. Curiously I follow the sound, stopping short when I find the source.
I see Emma and some girl; kissing. I can't believe what I'm walking in on. Emma's not gay... I mean, she's never been gay before, right? I'm so confused. I try to quietly walk away, the longer I stay the more I feel like I'm intruding on an intimidate and private moment. As I try to orchestrate a stealthy escape, the heavy clanking of my shoes on the hard polished floors grab the attention of the secret couple and give me away.
"Sawyer?" Emma looks up at me bewildered, her lips swollen and cheeks rosy.
I stare back at her with my mouth agar, no words spill out.
"This is Robin, my soulmate" Emma holds her hand and brings her close, as Robin rests her head on her shoulder. They both look at me expectantly as they wait for my reply, my congratulations.
"So you're a dyke now?"
Emma's face drops as she refuses to meet mine. A level of awkward tension hangs in the air.
"I should probably head back to my team, they're probably wondering where I am." Robin mutters awkwardly, as she removes her hand from Emma's.
"I'll text you okay?" Emma and Robin stare deeply into each other's eyes, Emma gives a small nod before letting her go.
"It was lovely meeting you." She adds politely before walking down the hallway.
"What was that all about then?!"
"That's rich coming from you! You can't suddenly decide to be gay it doesn't work like that!"
"She's my soulmate! We're marked! That's exactly how it works!"
I huff exasperatedly as I turn away from her and stare at the wall. My minds racing there are countless things I want to say and countless things I know I shouldn't. This is Emma after all and gay or not she's still my best friend...right?
"Have you told anyone else?"
"No" she laughs humourlessly. "After your reaction I'm not in a rush to anytime soon...

Oooo a lot of drama starts to kick off in this chapter which I love!
What do you think of the way Sawyer handled the situation? I tried to remember the fact this book is set in the 90s when I was writing that scene so I didn't think it'd make sense if she was super accepting very quickly.
Don't forget to vote and comment it really helps me out :)
Till next time,
