Chapter 14
Eva POV
Julian and I meet Juniper and Mariah at the clinic, so I can try to help Juniper with some of her problems with not being able to contact her wolf - for whatever reason. I'm unsure if this method will even help her, but I am willing to try - her and Mariah deserve this.
Getting there, I am glad that Juniper is dressed in comfortable clothing. I simply put on the clothes I typically wear when I meditate - black yoga pants, black sports bra and an oversized gray sleeveless shirt - I stole from Julian. He might not be my mate, but for some reason his scent calms me - strange but true so why fight it at the moment.
"Ok Juniper, I'm going to simply have you sit on this yoga mat in whatever seated position you would like. Hopefully explaining what I am going to do first before I begin will help you relax. I will work with your seven chakras or what I like to consider as energy focal points. You need to learn how to balance these on your own, but maybe if I can push some of my energy into these seven points - maybe it will "jump start" some healing - if this is the reason for some of the problems contacting your wolf. Let me know when you are ready."
Juniper takes a seated position on the mat, while Mariah is standing not far off from her. Once she looks comfortable, I take a seated position direct facing her.
"Let me explain each chakra briefly, showing the positions on my body first before I begin."
"Here at the base of the spine is the first chakra - referred to as the Earth or root chakra. It keeps us grounded. If out of balance, you might feel as if you are disconnected. Sometimes it is blocked by fear."
"Here near the navel is the second chakra - referred to as the Water or sacral chakra. It is responsible for water movement in the body. If out of balance, you might have problems with anything in or around that area of the body. Sometimes it is blocked by guilt."
"Here at the solar plexus is the third chakra - referred to as the Fire or solar plexus chakra. It is responsible for digestion, personality, ego identity. If out of balance, you might have problems like diabetes, ulcers, or stored emotions. Sometimes it is blocked by shame."
"Here near the heart is the fourth chakra - referred to as the heart chakra. It is responsible for love, compassion and joy. If out of balance, you might have problems with hardened heart or heartbreak. Sometimes it is blocked by grief."
"Here near the base of the throat is the fifth chakra - referred to as the sound or throat chakra. It is the communication chakra. If out of balance, you might have throat problems or unable to express who you are. Sometimes it is blocked by lies."
"Here center of the forehead is the sixth chakra - referred to as the Light or third eye chakra. It allows us to express clear thoughts, spiritual contemplation and self awareness. If out of balance, you might have headaches, nightmares or problems with vision. Sometimes it is blocked by illusion - illusions within yourself."
"Here at the crown of your head is the seventh and final chakra - referred to as the Thought or crown chakra. It is allows us to experience unity and realization that everything is connected at a spiritual level. If out of balance, you might have problems with depression, boredom or not feeling connected to your purpose. Sometimes it is blocked by earthly attachments."
"Now I am going to go behind you and place my hands near each point on your back. I will try to push some of my energy into you at these points. You will probably only feel some warmth, tingling or something that feels like vibrations. It should not hurt, and if it does tell me immediately and I will stop."
Moving quickly, I come around Juniper and kneel down behind her. "Are you ready?" I question and Juniper simply nods.
Nervously I begin the process, which seems to go smoothly. However, once I get towards the top I actually feel like my energy is too drained, but I don't want to stop until I am finished. Looking to the side, I spot Julian and give him a slight nod - my small signal that he needs to keep an eye on me. Finally finishing, I start feeling very lightheaded.
I fall backwards only to be caught by Julian.
"I knew you would fall for me eventually." He grins.
"Nah..." I whisper, before I black out.
Juniper POV
This is incredible....
It's like every synapse and cell in my body is tingling, leaving me feeling warm and weightless. I can barely feel the floor beneath me, and whatever is touching my head. I expected this to be painful and uncomfortable, but truthfully I don't think I've ever felt so relaxed...the only thing I can really tell through my lightheaded drifting is that I can't see anything...and that the only thing I can smell is is Gardenias and sandalwood, it's intoxicating aroma seeming to tug me along as something unknown stirs deep within my head.
"Juniper? Baby can you hear me?" A familiar voice calls through the haze, and as I follow it the scent gets stronger...as does the stirring feeling. I blink my eyes slowly as they open, the harsh clinic lights leaving spots in my vision.
"June?" The voice repeats, clearly this time, and a few strands of red hair brush across my forehead as a pair of beautiful chocolate brown eyes meet my gaze...and even though I recognize Mariah's face, it's like I'm seeing it for the very first time.
Her fair skin is clear and smooth, her soft pink lips and nose are small, which fits perfectly in her heart shaped face...as does her dark eyes and eyelashes, which stand out boldly against her light complexion...which makes her look both beautiful and fierce at the same time.
All I can do I stare in wonder.
"Juniper?" I shiver at the sound of her naturally low voice, it always sounded a little husky, but this the first time it's ever sent chills up my spine as well as make me blush. As she leans in closer, the scent hits my face again, and my eyes widen as I realize she's the source.
"Gardenias..." I whisper, and she quirks a brow in confusion.
"What?"
"You smell like gardenias...and sandalwood...it smells really good." I murmur, and her cheeks turn the faintest pink color as another person chuckles...I think it's Julian, but I can't be sure.
"Thank you...are you feeling okay?"
"I feel amazing..." I answer, sounding dazed and sleepy to my own ears. And the chuckling gets a bit louder as Mariah shoots Julian an irritated look.
"Sorry Marz, but she sounds like she's higher than a kite right now." He say with another laugh.
"He's not wrong..." I murmur with a dopey grin on my face, and I reach a hand up to her face when I finally remember how to use it, only to be greeted with surprise when my fingertips touch her cheek.
It's like tiny explosions just erupted underneath my skin, which makes me jump up to a crouching position, facing Mariah as she stares at me in shock. My heart races as I try to process what I just felt, trembling a little in excitement as part of me understands...leaving the rest confused.
"Juniper? What's wrong?" Mariah asks worriedly, but I can barely hear her over a new voice shouting in my head.
~Mate!! Mate!! Mate!! Oh my goddess I can finally speak! I thought I would never get the chance to meet you! I've been trying to tell you for months that she's our mate!!!~
I blink a few times, still trying to figure out if I've officially lost my mind or if this is real.
~Oh goddess it's amazing to finally talk to you! My name is Fiona! I'm your wolf silly.~
That means...oh goddess it worked!
"Junebug? Baby, are you okay?" Mariah asks again.
~What are you waiting for girl? Tell her! She's getting worried!~
Swallowing hard, I manage to get out the one word I can grab onto.
"Mate."
Mariah's eyes widen at the sound of my voice mixing with a purr, turning dark with excitement.
~What are you waiting for? An invitation?~
At that I jump into Mariah's lap, my lips colliding with hers before she can get out a word. I shudder at the sparks erupting again, as well as the feeling of her kissing back as her fingers tangle in my hair, a low growl rumbling in her chest as I purr.
But, only a few seconds into it she pulls back, placing a finger between our lips as she does.
"Someone's eager." She pants out, a small smirk on her face.
"You're complaining?" I pout a little, and she shakes her head.
"Not at all Junebug, but maybe we can wait just a minute? At least until we're sure Eva is okay?"
I turn to look when she points behind me, and I gasp in shock as I see Eva passed out...and flush in embarrassment when I see her head is laying in Julian's lap...and he is completely awake and aware. I completely forgot we had an audience...
~Oops...~ Fiona murmurs, and I promptly remove myself from Mariah's lap.
"Is she alright?" I ask with concern, and Julian nods.
"She told me this might happen, and I'm sure she is ok. Maybe she just has to let her energy build again." He replies, and Eva begins to shift.
"When did you get so smart, JD?" She croaks out, and I immediately fix her a cup of cold water.
"Why didn't you tell me this could happen? Are you hurt?" I ask, handing her the cup, and she drinks eagerly.
"I'm fine June. My energy just got a little too drained, no big deal. A few more hours or a good night's sleep and I will be back to normal. How do you feel?" She questions, looking between me and Mariah curiously, and a smile blooms on her face as Mariah intertwines her hand with mine.
"I can feel my wolf...and hear her too. It worked!! I can feel a mate bond with Mariah!" I answer, unable to contain my excitement.
"That's great news! I'm happy for you! Do you think you can shift?"
Her last question leaves me quiet, and Fiona perks up.
~I don't think we can...I don't know why, but something still isn't completely right.~ She murmurs, and I sigh as I shake my head.
"I don't think so...my wolf says something still isn't right."
"It's okay Juniper...I figured it wouldn't be a total success, this kind of thing isn't something that can be fixed in one day. Just give it some time." She assures, placing a hand on my shoulder as I lean into Mariah's hold.
"Speaking of time...perhaps you and Mariah should have some? As in, just the two of you..."
Just as I catch on to what she's implying, I feel myself getting scooped up into a pair of strong arms, and I squeal in surprise before giggling.
"Come on Junebug, I've got the perfect place in mind."
I blush as the sound of Eva and Julian's laughter follows us out the door, silently happy as Mariah's touch elicits the sparks that I've longed to feel for the last six months.
Eva POV
After Juniper and Mariah leave to have some time to themselves, Julian helps me back to the pack house. Of course, Julian can't go silently.
"So where did you learn about all that stuff?" Julian pries.
"My mom has a yoga instructor that knows quite a bit about chakras and other means of trying to keep the body and mind in balance."
"And this helps you?"
"Quite a bit actually. If I am too emotional, I find that I am not in as much control of my powers. My powers can be positively and negatively affected by the emotions that I am feeling. Too much in one direction or another can be harmful either to myself or another person."
"How so? You always seem so in control."
"Only because I practice. Like with the other healing that I do - manipulating a person's body. There is always the chance that I can use that power negatively. I could theoretically burst someone's internal organs - theoretically. I suppose it would take quite a bit of rage for me to accomplish that - not that I would know from experience. I could always test it on you." I tease.
"And here I just got you to fall for me, and now you want to burst my bubble." He jokes.
"Nah. I'm good. I believe I like you in one piece." I smile.
"Whew. That's good to know. Remind me never to piss you off." He chuckles.
