15 - Misc: Bad luck brings adventure ft. slight Rannett
"Thou Prinzessin-" Fischl started.
"Fischl, I need you to get to the point, I forgot my dictionary!" Bennett screeched.
"Here," Fischl says, handing a piece of paper to Bennett.
It said in normal-ish handwriting: Read the book 'Flowers for the Prinzessin Princess Fischl'
"Did you write it because you didn't want to say it?" Bennett asked.
Fischl nods.
So Bennett hops off to the library. Because we're going too fast, let's add in a scene on Bennett's way to the library.
"Hello," A sudden voice said.
"AGH!" Bennett was totally not surprised.
"What?" The voice asked.
"Where are you?" Bennett asked, looking around.
"I'm the blind one, not you. But I'm on this bench. I always have been, have you never seen me?" The voice asks.
Bennett uses his eyes and sees a girl, sitting on a bench.
"Oh, hello," He says cheerfully.
"Kids these days..." Glory mutters to herself.
...
"Yay, I'm at the library!" Bennett exclaimed to himself as he stood in front of the huge building.
"No you're not," A cheerful voice says, "but if you want to pray to Lord Barbados inside the Church, go ahead,"
"Barbara, good to see you!" Bennett exclaims.
"It's been one day..." Barbara says.
"I know, but where's the library? Did I take a wrong turn?" Bennett asks.
"Yes, I think you took the only wrong turn you could..." Barbara sighs.
"Follow me," She offers, and Bennett accepts this offer, but this is the only offer he accepts, much to his demise later in his life.
The two set off to the Library, located in the Knights of Favonious building. Of course, the travel wasn't easy. Bennett tripped off the windmill they accidentally went on, Bennett fell up the stairs they were supposed to go down on, Barbara used her elemental skill so many times her burst would have charged 50 times, and Bennett got eaten by Timmie's pigeons.
But the two made it!
"Bye Bennett!" Barbara waves towards the unlucky teen as she leaves the area. But once she leaves, Kaeya ran into Bennett.
"Oops, sorry~ Oh shoot, you're a kid, byeeeeeee," Kaeya sprints off.
"Wut," Bennett asks himself.
But he continues and actually opens the right door.
"Hello, what would you like to check out?" The librarian, Lisa, asks right when he enters the library.
"Oh... Just uhhh... Book," Bennett says in response.
"Well, you've come to the right place. Because I have so much free time after school in Sumeru and I don't know how to use it, I've been spying on Mondstadt citizens. I know exactly what book you want, and I have two copies left," Lisa explains, guiding Bennett down a staircase (which he tripped down) to a bookshelf.
"I normally just memorize where books are but I've already done that even after rearranging the library three times, so here," Lisa grabs a book and hands it to Bennett, and it was indeed the book he was looking for. The soft cover of 'Flowers for Princess Fischl'.
"Can I have a hard cover?" Bennett asks.
"Why would you need that for?" Lisa asks.
"Because I trip a lot," Bennett says.
"Well too bad, because we only have solf covers- wait." Lisa puts a finger up to Bennet's mouth to shut him up.
"Here it comes..." She says, then basically teleports to the top of the library.
"Thank you for returning your book," Bennett hears Lisa's voice say, then he sees Lisa in front of him again.
"Here," She smiles and then hops on top of the bookshelf, instantly asleep.
In Bennett's hands was the hard copy of Flowers of Princess Fischl, huh, maybe his luck wasn't so bad today. At that very moment, the woman sleeping on the bookshelf turned in her sleep and fell on top of Bennett. Great.
After an hour of struggling and finally getting out, he turned to look at his book with a grin. But when he looked at it, he gasped. Five pages were folded the wrong way! So instantly, he tries to bend the pages the correct way, trying to get them flat again. But the line of the fold was still as clear as day.
"I guess it could've been wor- No! I won't jinx it!" Bennett then carefully went up the stairs and exited the Favonious building.
"Ah, the air smells so good," Bennett stretches and gives a yawn, grinning widely afterwards.
"Now I have to get back home though..." He mutters to himself, looking down the long stretch of stairs in front of him.
He carefully stuck out a foot to the first step, the book held in both arms to his chest. He didn't slip! Next step... Done! But now was the right time to slip.
So he did, and the book came right out of his arms and down the entire staircase. Of course, Bennett could heal himself right up, he trained with his vision for that, he would create a 'Benny Circle' and heal himself right up! But that would just burn the book, so Bennett was hesitant to touch it after he stood up again.
Bennett actually grabbed a stick and poked it, then he actually took it into his hands. Of course, being an idiot, he grabbed only one side of the book, so pages could flutter out of the bind.
"Of course..." The unlucky boy mutters to himself, feeling unhappy with himself.
But still, he only lost three pages, what could go wrong?
And guess what, nothing did go wrong, as he asked the Prinzessin Fischl herself to recite the pages. So what's lost was found, and Bennett went back to his house, of course, falling down stairs, getting back up just to fall again. Jumping over a rock only to trip over another. Walking past someone who was running, only to be pushed to the floor and the book land face down, then for the person running to set their muddy boots on the front cover.
Those two weeks before checking out the book were normally boring. Bennett didn't really have much to do, besides adventuring, of course. When he finished the book, Bennett had two days left to return it. The quality of the book lowered considerately, but at least it didn't just explode in his hands.
"Bye dads! I'm going to return the library book!" Bennett waved goodbye to his dads, book in his free hand, but without two hands securing the compacted pile of papers, it fell from his hand, bending a few more pages and fully ripping out a loose one.
"Oh shoot," He said, folding the papers back in the right direction and putting the ripped paper between two random pages.
"Bye," He says again, then starts his walk to the library, searching for anyone he knew to guide him to the right place.
Then he saw Fischl!
"Fischl!" Bennett called, he saw the raven girl turn her head.
"The precise chance of the santifying Immernachtreich, you saw the Prinzessin at this very moment, as if the curses of thou majestic world have begun to tatter and fall out of place," She says.
"What Mein Fräulein means is 'hello, it it good to see you today'," Oz translates.
"Do you know where the library is?" Bennett asks.
"The Prinzessin knows of which you speak," Fischl says.
"Mein Fräulein, are you suggesting you guide Bennett to the library?" Oz asks, clearly surprised by this action.
"Of course! The Immernachtreich has spoken! Thou words expressed the excellency and the luck bestown for thou precise appearance before the eye of the incomparable knight," Fischl explains, holding her hand before her eyepatch.
"She says 'yes'," Oz translates, still surprised.
"Yay!" Bennett cheers.
The two humans and one electro raven set off to the Library.
During the trip, Bennett falls face first off a cliff onto a tree, he got stuck in that tree for an hour, his goggles broke, he burned some of his hair, and Fischl's hair too, so she asked Oz to put it in a weird braid behind her head.
"We're here!" Bennett exclaims happily.
"What can I do for you?" Said the Library assistant, here instead of the purple book witch because she must be spying on other citizens.
"We're here to return the book we borrowed," Bennett exclaimed.
"The Prinzessin did not have any part in this," Oz corrects.
"I am here to return a book I borrowed," Bennett says.
"Well, what book?" The assistant asks.
"Flowers for Princess Fischl, of course!" Bennett says.
"We don't have that book here," The man starts, trying to come off as calm, "we never have,"
"What do you mean? We just got it, I have the copy right here!" Bennett reached into his bag, grabbing what he thought was the book.
"W-wait, where's the book!?" Bennett asks no one in particular.
Fischl whispers something to Oz.
"The Prinzessin asked if you dropped it," Oz says.
"Maybe... But what's weird is that the Library was more sunny last time... It's like the sun is gone," Bennett says while looking around, suddenly actually observant.
"Well that's because we're in a building, Bennett," Oz says.
"Well, what library are you talking about!?" The assistant asks, already done with the trio.
"Lisa's library, where else, there's only one," Bennett says, then adds on "right?"
"What country do you think you're in?" The man says, taking a sharp breath in.
"Mondstadt," Bennett says simply.
"You're in Snezhnaya, you idiotic comrade," The man says, shaking his head.
"WHAT!?" Bennett shouts.
"Pardon thee," Fischl starts, then Fischl does a hand motion to Oz.
Oz goes over to Bennett and covers his ears with his wings. Then Fischl says something to the man. Oz uncovers Bennett's ears.
"Let us take thy leave," Fischl says, turning around and beginning to walk.
"What'd you say?" Bennett asks.
"Mein Fräulein spoke in normal literature," Oz explains, earning a huge gasp from Bennett.
Of course, this gasp caused Bennett to choke, so Fischl used her very intellectual brain and thought hitting his back would help. It did not, it only pushed him into a trap made for animals, and Bennett was still choking in the pit.
Fischl and Oz end up trying to find someone to get him out by staying in the same area. Fischl was walking around the rim of the pit, when her high heel slipped on the ice and she fell in as well. This left Oz as the only survivor.
A couple hours passed and the three were playing a card game. Bennett lost every round, getting the jokers when you didn't want them and never even thinking of getting one when he needed them. Right now, they were playing Go Fish.
"Hey comrades, care if I join you?" A man only able to be described as Ed Sheeran asked, peering into the hole.
"The Prinzessin shall make you tremble in fear for thy condemn method is only of thee apprehensive," Fischl threatens(?), drawing a card from the deck. Apparently, she got lucky and placed down four twos face up.
"Hey comrade, what did she just say?" The redhead asks Bennett.
"Thou humble- Actually, I can't do that. She just wants to go home- all three of us do," Bennett explains, motioning to Oz, Fischl and himself.
"I'll take you home," Ed Sheeran offered, smirking slightly, "but only if you tell me how the bird works,"
"I think he can explain himself," Bennett says, drawing a card from the deck. Of course, it didn't match any of his own cards.
"Really? The Tsaritsa would love spies like these," The fatui harbinger grinned as he stared at Oz excitedly.
"Well, I appeared in the Favonious Library, right when Mein Fräulein got the Edelstein der Dunkelheit, or, vision," Oz explains.
"Aww man, does that mean I'm too late?" The redhead scratched his head, "well you can call me Childe,"
"I'm Bennett! And that is Fischl, my best friend! The bird is Oz!" Bennett explains happily.
"Adventurer Who Wields the World's Curses," Fischl says, and Bennett turns his head, "do you perhaps also wield the three of Spades?'
"Oh, darn it!" Bennett huffs, handing over the card to Fischl.
"Ahaha! The Prinzessin has become victorious once more!" Fischl says, but then she starts cleaning up, as they would be leaving the hole soon.
"Well then Comrades, let us set off to Liyue!" Childe says, hopping into the pit.
"Oh no, we're from Mondstadt," Bennett corrects.
"Oh darn, I was hoping to visit Zhongli..." The adult acts like a child; he pouts a bit but then dramatically whips his scarf over his shoulder.
Using his vision, he creates a hydro bridge up to the surface again, as they were in a hole, if you forgot. Snezhnaya is so cold that the hydro quickly turned to a stone-cold cryo bridge.
"Hop on, we've got a journey ahead of us," Childe says, climbing up the bridge first to make sure that it was safe.
But you may be asking, why is Childe helping the Mondstadt trio? Because, 1, he was bored, and 2, Oz is intriguing to him, 3, he might see Zhongli?
So they set off for Mondstadt, Childe telling vicious battles, his visit to Liyue and the people he met while Bennett was oooing and aaaing.
The four reach Mondstadt quickly, somehow. Fischl says something inaudible as she was so far upfront, she was already on the bridge to Mondstadt, and Timmie was eyeing Oz. The group was about to disperse.
"Mein Fräulein says that- why are you guys so far behind?" Oz asks.
"It's cause you're walking so fast!" Bennett complains.
"Yeah, man!" Childe agrees
"It is not your fault that you are slow, but I still need to translate what Mein Fräulein said just now," Oz says.
"Okay," Bennett says.
"She said 'Goodbye Childe, may you have a great time with your boyfriend, Zhongli'," Oz translates.
"He's not my boyfriend- I'M NOT GAY," Childe says, like in that one audio.
"Are you sure?" Bennett asks, then running up to Fischl and Oz while waving goodbye.
"Byeeee," Bennett screams, then turns around towards the city, "well that was interesting,"
"Sure was- I mean," Fischl clears her throat, "Thy Prinzessin acknowledges your statement, now blessed by the Immernachtreich. Though thou world's curses are nigh on thy shoulders, the Pronzessin der Verurteilung shall sanctify thy words,"
"Mein Fräulein agrees," Oz translates.
"Yay!" Bennett says, then completely freezes.
"Wait- I lost the book earlier. Nono, what if it's on my desk... Yes! I have a memory of that and it's solid... Or maybe that was when I first got the book- or, or- no, there aren't huge huge mud stains on it. Maybe I'm changing this memory though, because I always thin one thing is another... Maybe I thought that the memory that I checked out the book in the first place what a lie," Bennett rants.
"Bennett," Fischl says, surprising the boy trying to claim a memory of where the book he borrowed could have been.
"D-did you just call me by my name!?" Bennett asks Fischl.
"Yes, thou Prinzessin shall only speak in such language like this when needed," Fischl says, and Bennett didn't need a translation.
"Thee beloved book is placed on thy floor of the Adventurers Guild," Fischl explains.
"Really!?" Bennett exclaims, all remnants of stress lost in his happiness.
Bennett pulls Fischl into a hug, as he now knew that he wouldn't die from not returning a book on time... What? It was a real issue!
"The Prinzessin does not want a hug," Fischl says, and Bennett lets go, still grinning.
"Sorry! But I'm just really excited for no reason because I was trying to act cool around Childe and I was restraining my energy and now I'm too energetic," Bennett says, bouncing on his feet.
"Anyways, thanks for speaking a little more understandively like that," Bennett says, not even knowing if 'understandively' was a word (it's not).
Fischl nods and grins a bit, then the two enter the city, getting stares because Bennett looks like crap and Fischl changed her pigtails to a braid, and also had some ripped clothing. But after entering the city, they need to enter the Library.
But after just entering the Favonius building thing, Fischl said that she had to go get the book Bennett dropped somewhere in the Adventurer's guild. She comes back with it, then leaves again, leaving Bennett alone.
So then Bennett started walking into the library, it wasn't too far away, surely it wouldn't-
BOOM BOOM POW!
Bennett hears ringing in his ears and looks down, seeing a little girl holding a blown-up backpack.
What just happened? Well I'll tell you! Klee was so happy, she just got her vision and wanted to show Noelle, as she already showed Albedo, Jean, Sucrose, Lisa and Kaeya. So she kept her vision in her backpack, as she didn't want to lose it after just getting it.
She was running normally when Bennett somehow didn't see her and they both fell. Both pyro vision weilders dropped something. Bennett dropped the book. And Klee... A backpack. Spooky. But the backpack also had a bomb in it sooo that's why Flowers for Princess Fischl blew up lol.
"Wait- WhAt!" Bennett screams at the top of his lungs, as he realizes that the book blew up as loose, burnt pages glided down around him.
"Oh noo! I'm so sorry mister! Do you need help apologizing to Miss Lisa?'' The little girl, Klee, asked.
"It's fine," Bennett gave a smile to Klee.
"Okay, bye bye, mister!" She exclaims as she ran away.
"It'll be fine..." Bennett assured himself.
It was not fine.
"YOU DID WHAT!?" Lisa screams, snatching the heavily burnt pages in her hand.
"I accidentally tripped on Klee and went to Sne-" Bennett started to explain.
"That is no excuse," She says rather calmly, scaring the crap out of Bennett.
Lisa emotionlessly grabbed a purple book from her desk and opened it like a normal one. But the thing was, it wasn't a normal book, it was a catalyst weapon, and as she opened it, dark purple sparks flung from the now-open book.
All Lisa did was open the book though, she didn't do anything for a whole minute when a boy tapped her shoulder. When did he appear?
"Mama Lisa, don't be.... uh... Mad," He says, as if the language was foreign to him.
Bennett looked at the boy now in front of him. He was around his age, had huge scars on his body, had a hood, red eyes, and white long hair, and was that an electro vision? His outfit was tattered and looked a little like rags but didn't look like he was living on the streets, but in the woods. Bennett thought that this person was interesting, maybe he has bad luck too?
"I'm not mad, Little Wolf," She says, closing the book and turning to the light gray haired teen.
"I just am pissed," She says with a light smile.
"How can I get you un-pissed, Lisa?" Bennett asks.
"Let me think, I may actually have a solution," Lisa walks over to her desk and takes a scroll in her hands, beginning to read it.
"Go to the Midsummer Courtyard Domain at Starsnach Cliff, an Abyss Mage stole my feather artifact and I want it back, it really looked well with my outfit. If you can get my feather back, I'll forgive you for blowing up, ripping, folding, tearing and ruining my book," Lisa explains, making sure that she told Bennett all that he did with the book.
"Deal!" Bennett exclaims, "Benny Adventure Team, assemble!"
"Actually, you'll have a member on your adventure," Lisa says, Bennett's head whips in her direction.
"REALLY!?" He screams excitedly, jumping up and down.
"Yes, Razor here will accompany you on your journey," Lisa says happily, taking Razor by the shoulders and shoving him towards the Pyro person.
"OMG, HELLO I'M BENNETT," He says all too happily, he holds his hand out for a shake.
"I... Razor," Razor says, slowly taking Bennett's hand, only to be jackhammered by the other's extreme energy.
"Now go, I'll be expecting you to come back in three days, if you don't, I'll come and get you," Lisa assures the two, Bennett, not losing any excitement, nods aggressively.
"ADVENTURE TIIIIIIIME!" Bennett shouts as Razor walks by his side out of Mondstadt.
