Chapter 7: the skull kid's whereabouts
Marth awoke with a shock. She was a deku scrub again, and she was also in the safety of the room in the inn. "Nightmares, huh Marth?...Keep em' to yourself" Tatl says sleepily, then falls asleep once more. If only you knew Marth thought to herself, and lays there, thinking.
What is going on?
Why didn't Naga send me to Ylisse?
...was it a mistake...
No, of course not, the goddess Naga would never make a mistake as insane as this...
Or could she?
And why did the mask salesman say he would leave in three days?
Didn't that mustached man say the local carnival was happening in three days?
Why would the salesman leave by then?
Did he know? Will Grima return in three days? Will the world end somehow? what will happen? What...
But before she could finish that last thought, Link strutted into the room carrying a plate of eggs and sausage. "Wakey, wakey, rise and shine!" he yells, slapping his hand on the inn room door. "Ugh, five more minutes" Tatl said, covering herself with the small hand towel she was using as a blanket. "Come on, the more time we have to look, the better, now let's go!" Link adds, ripping the towel out of Tatl's small hands. "And you say I'm the rude one..." Tatl grumbles. Marth, Link, and Tatl all get up, eat the plateful of food (with great difficulty in Marth's case) and head out, thanking the young innkeeper for allowing them to stay the night. When they exit the inn, they notice for the first time that a small, pink fairy was floating around in that part of town. "Hey, look, it's the stray fairy the great fairy was talking about!" Tatl says excitedly. "Great, now can somebody please tell me how we get it down from there" Link said sarcastically
"Hey, you're a fairy, Tatl, you go get it." Marth said
"Why me?"
"Because you're the only one of us who can fly."
"You are one to talk, Marth, you're a deku scrub!"
"...yeah, so!?"
"SO, you can use those pink and green flowers everywhere and launch yourself up to it"
"Well, how was I supposed to know that!"
"Uh, guys?..."
"SHUT IT, LINK!" Marth and Tatl say in unison.
"...fine!" Marth says to both of them, and walks up to one of the large flowers near the town and notices that is looks similar to the one she saw in the forest. She looked down at it, but before she could get a second look, she was sucked into the flower and then popped out like a rocket. She screamed in surprise. She seemed to be staying afloat thanks to two smaller, spinning flowers clutched in her hands. She looked over at the stray fairy and attempted to fly towards it, but ends up landing on her face. She gets up, dusts herself off, and tries to do it again. After several failed attempts, Marth managed to grab the fairy with one hand still gripping her floatation device/flower. She and the other two race back to the north end of town where the cave is, and Marth releases the fairy towards her doppelgangers. They flew around into a tight circle until they all disappear and then reappear as one huge fairy. She was using assorted vines for clothing and had her hair tied into three ponytails on her head. "Hello, Marth, I am the great fairy of magic. I was a fool when the masked skull kid approached me. I only thought he was trying to help me, but I didn't know what he was capable of" This new being said. "Well...Do you know where he is?" Link asks. "Actually yes, I do. I believe he is on the top of the clock tower in the center of town." The great fairy said. "Oh, thank the gods, she knew" Marth says exhaustedly. "However, The only way up there is through a door above the main entrance, but that door is only open on the eve of the annual carnival.". Two days time Marth thought, Why must heroes cut things so damn short...
