Chapter 9 ~ Leaving... For Now?

Happy Mother's Day everyone! I hope all you mothers had a great day...if there are any reading...and if you're a daughter/son, go give your mom a big hug from me and tell her how awesome she is. After all, it's no easy feat raising a cRaZy child like you!

I actually made a cake for my amazing mom today. If y'all want, I can attach a picture of it!

Also, shoutout to @Itsfunneh124 and @Blueshine9 for being very supportive and giving me the drive to go ahead and get another chapter out. Thanks you guys!

Small rays of light that managed to sneak their way past the sleeping quarter's curtains danced across Ahsoka's face. At the feel of the bright and warm sensation, the Togruta slowly blinked her eyes open and stretched her arms out. Sitting up from her position, Ahsoka rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she adjusted to the morning. Today would be a good day, she was sure of it.

More chipper than usual, Ahsoka slinked out of bed and headed over to her luggage that she had laid down on the other side of the room. She rooted through its contents before stumbling across the unworn outfit she had packed previously. Her gaze darted between her usual maroon tunic that laid in a heap on the ground beside her bed and the neatly folded gray outfit. After a couple more moments, she chose to go with the new clothes.

She slipped on the tight-fit gray crop top, then followed with the darker gray miniskirt. After that she clipped on a belt with maroon hourglass flaps that matched the shape of the cutout on her collarbone, fit the dark gray armbands around her upper arm, and slid on her white capris and boots.

Once she was satisfied with her appearance, she packed up all of her belongings in her bag and headed down towards the meditation room. There was a slight whisper in the Force that told her to go there before she left.

Ahsoka laid down her luggage and wandered to one of the meditation mats, then sat down in a criss-cross position and closed her eyes. She focused on the Force: how it flowed through and around the things that surrounded her, but most importantly, the way it coursed through her. It was like a river of energy that sustained her life. Something so minuscule, yet somehow its impact was larger than a collapsing planet.

Memories raced through her mind as she continued her session. Some were of her earliest memories of life on Shili; others were of the good and difficult times of growing up in the Temple. Looking back though, she wouldn't trade one day for a world.

One especially fond moment that replayed over and over again was the first time she had met Master Plo. Her parents had been tragically killed by an akul when she was younger, so she had nobody to really care for her. Sure, some other mother Togrutas had provided her with shelter and food, but she was never loved for the same as their actual sons and daughters. Master Plo though...despite the large mask on his face and the goggles covering his eyes, she could see kindness in his face from the moment she met him. Even though she knew that he would never take her on as a padawan for unspecified reasons, he had always showed her the love that she missed growing up. Sure, if you asked him, he would deny it and claim that it was against the Jedi Code, but Ahsoka knew deep down that the Kel-Dor had always cared for her.

To her confusion, these happy memories were wiped away and scenes that she did not know replaced them. She was about to write them off as just times from her childhood she didn't remember until...

"Ahhhh!" Screams of dying Jedi erupted throughout Ahsoka's head. She writhed uncomfortably in the position she sat it, wanting desperately to get away from these images, but she knew she couldn't. The Force was showing her something for a reason, and she had to pay attention. Dying Jedi continued to plague her vision. They were all getting cut down by...blue blaster fire?! Why would the Jedi be getting shot by their own side. Her vision panned out to reveal something even worse. The blaster was coming from none other than the clones. The Jedi were being betrayed and murdered by their own men.

Her vision changed to Jedi younglings.

No...no! NO! Not the younglings! Ahsoka thought desperately as they were being killed as well. How could someone kill poor, innocent children? She thought that even the Sith would be more compassionate than that! Despite her thoughts, they continued to be inhumanely slaughtered. The worst part? They were dying on the blade of a blue lightsaber. There was a traitor in their midst.

Ahsoka tried her best to see who the malicious person behind the robes were, but her efforts were in vain. Apparently the Force didn't think that Ahsoka should know the identity of the killer.

Is it Chancellor Palpatine? Ahsoka thought, however she denied it. The stature of the mysterious traitor was much taller and more filled out than the prune of an old man.

Then, just as suddenly as it started, the vision was gone. It was as though she wasn't supposed to see much; and Ahsoka believed she hadn't. She had a good feeling that was just the tip of the iceberg of disaster that would come in the future. Disaster she had to do something about.

That's just it, Ahsoka thought decisively to herself, now that I know what I must do, it is time for me to leave.

The Daughter had been right; Ahsoka would know when to return back to Coruscant. However, before Ahsoka walked out the doors, she felt a certain room calling to her. She followed the echoing Force throughout the dusty halls and into a room that looked as though it were meant for meetings. There was a large table with a hologram transmitter in the center, but that wasn't what had Ahsoka's attention piqued. On one of the walls, there seemed to be a map of some sort.

The Togruta wandered up to the map and studied it. She was shocked when she realized that it displayed a hyperspace route off of Dantooine and to a nearby planet. There was a different path beside Myto's Arrow? That was impossible!

But sure enough, line showed the trajectory for a jump to light speed at a certain angle, which eventually fed them into space behind another planet. From there, you could turn around and steer past the planet, then resume hyper space and travel to whichever planet of your choice.

Why would this be kept a secr... Ahsoka's thoughts trailed off as realization dawned on her. The reason this much safer route was hidden was to ensure that it would be nearly impossible to travel to Dantooine and discover the Gray Jedi's Temple. They had done so to ensure the safety of their base.

Ahsoka ran her fingers across the map absentmindedly as she tried to memorize the path. Once she was fairly confident in her knowledge, se gave the room one last look and hastily walked out. Even though she had a feeling that she wasn't, Ahsoka wanted to make sure she wouldn't be too late to save the galaxy.

Ahsoka grunted as she remembered the long journey back to the village. It would take her nearly a day to get back, and she really didn't feel like wasting that much time. She thought about self-manipulating her body Force into flying, but she knew that she wasn't that strong yet. She doubted that would even get her halfway.

Suddenly a thought dawned on her.

"Work smarter, not harder," Ahsoka said to herself and tapped her head, a smirk playing on her features. She drew her wrist comm out of her bag and reattached it to her arm, then dialed a couple buttons.

"Hey R6, would you mind flying the ship over to these coordinates?" She spoke into it.

A series of angry and concerned beeps and whistles followed.

"Yes...yes...no, I'm fine. No, I don't think that I died. Yes, I'm sorry, I'll let you know the next time that I'll be gone for this long," Ahsoka replied, rolling her eyes and letting out a small chuckle. The transmission cut off after R6 informed her that it would be there soon, and Ahsoka sent the droid her coordinates.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka had turned to face the temple for one last look. While she planned on it, she wasn't sure how soon she would be able to come back. Of course, that was all up to the Force, but the Togruta inwardly wondered if she would actually be ever to spare time to come back. Surely, right? After all, Jedi had to take vacations sometimes too.

"You'll be back, don't worry," a voice rang out, and Ahsoka looked for the Daughter expectantly. She was shocked when she realized that in wasn't the celestial. Instead, behind her stood enough people to form an army legion. She noticed that these people's silhouettes were hazy as her own had been we she travelled to see Barriss. However, there was also a tint of blue in all of the people.

"Who are you?" Ahsoka asked, trying her best to mask her surprise.

"We are your predecessors. You stand in our temple, your temple," the same woman who had originally spoke said. There was a soothing flow to the way she spoke, much similar to Shaak Ti. The women was a Pantoran with beautiful golden face markings, also tainted blue from the Force projection.

Realization dawned on Ahsoka. These were all of the past Gray Jedi. Some were small...children...and others were aged adults. Some were female, others were male. Some were humans, some were humanoids such as herself and the Pantoran.

She wasn't sure what told her to do it, but Ahsoka bent over slightly and greeted, "Hello, Masters."

They all smiled and bowed back, but one little boy decided to do something more. He ran up and wrapped his hazy arms around her leg and looked up at her with these big, blue eyes. "Mama told me you gon' make us pwoud. Tank chu."

Ahsoka couldn't help but let her eyes water up at the sight of the deceased, innocent boy. How in the galaxy had someone as young and sweet as him die? She crouched down to be at eye level with him and replied softly, "Your welcome, little one. I will do my very best."

The Pantoran female walked towards Ahsoka and began to talk, "I was the Gray Jedi's version of a grandmaster, you might say. My name is Aylile Sinici, and it is nice to meet you at last."

Ahsoka looked at Aylile hand that she had just outstretched. She was hesitant to shake it, knowing that her hand would just slip through the ghosty image, but she tried her best anyways. The cool feeling of the Force projection danced around her fingertips as they made contact. "At last?"

Aylile released her hand and looked off to the mountains, somewhat in a dramatic way, before turning back and replying with a sigh, "yes, we have been waiting many, many years for our successor. If I'm being frank, I believe we've actually lost track."

Ahsoka didn't know how to respond to that. How could she? The thought of waiting for seemingly an eternity for one person to come along was horrifying.

"Well," Ahsoka finally began, "I'm glad that I've finally come around for you. I still don't understand how I'm worthy enough to be a part of this order that your amazing warriors have created."

Aylile placed her hazy hand over Ahsoka's heart, "You're plenty worthy, and it comes from right there. We're lucky to have you, young Ahsoka Tano."

Ahsoka beamed back at her, but it was washed off her face quickly as all of the ghosts faded away. She looked around to find the cause, then realized it was because R6 had just arrived with the Jedi shuttle. The ship slowed to a stop, then carefully hovered in the air, trying to find a spot to land. Seeing that the best option would be the steep mountains, Ahsoka spoke into her comms.

"Hey R6, just lower the ship a little bit and open the doors."

The astromech did as requested, and Ahsoka jumped into the shuttle. After making sure that the doors were shut and secured, she quickly made her way up to the piloting room.

"Hey R6!" Ahsoka called out as she jumped into her seat, making it spin around once or twice just for the fun of it. R6 beeped back and began setting the course for Myto's Arrow, but Ahsoka stopped him short. "Actually bud, there's somewhere else I promised to go first."

Taking the controls, Ahsoka guided the shuttle back towards the lands that reached past the mountains and fields. Since she wanted to make this as quick as possible, Ahsoka set the regular thrusters to full power and zipped through the sky.

"Hello, do you know where Ms. Caceryn is?" Ahsoka asked a villager walking around. She had parked the shuttle just out of view so nobody would question her, but the Togruta was already getting wary glances. Apparently Dantooine didn't really see Togrutans that often.

"Down that street, in the pub," an older man gruffly replied, then shuffled about his business. Ahsoka thanked him, but she doubted he actually heard her. She made her way down the road until she came across a building that was teeming with people and chatter. Ahsoka figured that this was the pub the man was talking about.

The Gray Jedi threw the hood of the cloak she had put on over her head, then made her way into the hopping restaurant. One one side there were some some groups of people enjoying an early lunch, and on the other were a few stray people who were starting their drinking off early. Ahsoka shook her head in disgust; why would people waste away their life spending nearly all of it being drunk?

A couple questioning glances were passed at her as she wove her way through the crowd, trying to find Caceryn. Would she be dining with her husband or a group of lady friends? Or perhaps she was serving as a waitress or a barista. She really wished the guy had been more specific with his information.

Finally her eyes landed on a woman who was shaking up some cocktails for depressed looking people. Ahsoka's eyes lit up as she recognized the lady's face.

"Caceyrn!" She called out. Caceryn gave Ahsoka a confused glance for a moment as she tried to figure out who the cloaked stranger was, but open seeing Ahsoka's dusty blue and white lekku poking out her features relaxed. She finished up the drink she was concocting, then slid over to the barstool that Ahsoka had taken a seat at.

"How was everything Ahsoka? Did you find the Temple okay?" Caceryn asked as she handed Ahsoka a menu, "Want anything to eat or drink?"

"It was great," Ahsoka replied as she shrugged of her hood and took a look at the menu, "Yeah, I'll take a Jabba Juice. I'm too young to drink."

"Coming right up," Caceryn sang as she turned to face the shelves of different liquids and toppings. She grabbed a couple orange tinted juices and mixed them together in a glass, then sprinkled on the Wortt eggs. Despite their awful appearance, the eggs actually tasted sweet and delicious.

"My time there was...interesting. I definitely discovered a lot more than I knew before. Now its time to return to Coruscant and single-handedly straighten out the galaxy's issues," Ahsoka commented as Caceryn placed her drink in front of her, lacing some sarcasm into the last sentence.

"You're not actually going to do that all by yourself?" Caceryn gaped.

"No! Of course n..." Ahsoka caught herself as she realized what she was actually going to do. Her face paled and she whispered, "Actually...yes...I am."

"Good luck with that girl," Caceryn laughed as she pulled a stool from the back of the counter and sat down to face the Togruta, "I haven't been outside of Dantooine before, but I've heard our galaxy's pretty messed up."

"Ain't that the truth," Ahsoka muttered as she took a sip of her juice. The Jedi padawan looked up and turned to face the other customers, noticing that one was trying to catch Caceryn's attention.

"Hey lady! Do you even work here any more? I've been waiting for a drink for like 10 minutes!"

Caceryn rolled her eyes and went to stand up, but Ahsoka quickly snaked her hand forward and grabbed a hold of the woman's wrist before she could get too far away. Now that she had Caceryn's attention, she rooted through her robes and pulled something out. With a smile, she placed it in the Dantooinean's hand and looked her in the eye.

"I have to go for now, but this communicator should be able to work from here to Coruscant. We can talk anytime you'd like," Ahsoka said as she stood up from her barstool.

"I'll miss you, Ahsoka," Caceryn replied, pocketing the communicator and giving Ahsoka a bow. The Togruta returned the gesture, then threw her hood back on and made her way out of the pub.

"Masters, don't you think that Ahsoka has been gone for too long?" Anakin pleaded as he stood before the Council.

"For once, I'll have to agree with young Skywalker. The absence of this Palawan has gone for too long. I feel as though we have a right to know what is consuming her precious time," Mace added, his usual tint of gruffness evident.

"I mean...this is really unlike her. She never hides anything from me. Do you think a Sith has...possessed her?" Anakin shuddered.

"Patience, you must obtain. Come back, in her own time she will," Yoda admonished in his calculated meter.

"I've had patience!" Anakin snapped, but quickly flushed in embarrassment and took his voice down a notch, "I just...I want to make sure she is safe."

"You can't let your emotions control you Anakin," Obi-Wan scolded softly, earning only a grunt of annoyance from the Jedi Knight.

"So what? Are you guys going to tell me I've grown too attached again?" Anakin spat. The Jedi Masters looked at him in glances of disapproval, and in some cases, glares.

"In fact, yes we are," Mace fired back, engaging in a heated stare down between the two Jedi.

"Anger, strong in you both. Control it, you must," Yoda chimed. Mace and Anakin tore their gaze from each other in unison, but not before giving one last nasty look.

"Grandmaster," Shaak began, directing Yoda's attention to her, "don't you think we should at least know where she is or if she's safe? She is one of us, after all."

Yoda grimaced. He knew that Ahsoka didn't want them to know of her whereabouts, which were Dantooine. Speaking of which though, was surely impossible for her to be. Only Jedi Masters as powerful as himself are skilled enough with the Force to get through the deadly Myto's Arrow, so how could a mere padawan like her be able to make it out safely? Which brings him to the next thought...was she even okay? Could he assure the others that she was indeed safe, even though he had no clue himself?

Yoda hesitated, the opened his mouth to respond. However, he was interrupted by the doors opening.

"Did you miss me that much, Skyguy?"

OOO haha Yoda's getting suspicious! I wonder how long until he finds out... or maybe he already knows...
