Chapter 11 ~ Spilled Secrets
Bam!
I bet y'all weren't expecting an update this early.
And... I bet y'all weren't expecting a double update!
Let's just say I've been writing ever since I got up this morning...
"So, Master Obi-Wan, what do we need to talk about?" Ahsoka asked with fake innocence as she poured him a cup of tea. Even though she had no clue as to why, Obi-Wan had said that it would be in her best interest to have this conversation in her sleeping quarters.
"Don't play dumb with me Ahsoka. I know you much better than you know. You're like a daughter to me...I'm going to know when something is wrong," Obi-Wan firmly said after a sip of his tea.
"Okay..." Ahsoka trailed off as she sat down beside him, "ask your questions, I guess."
"And you are going to be answering them truthfully, Ahsoka. No more of your pathetic lying skills. Remind me some other time, and we'll work on them."
Ahsoka cringed at this insult, but he was 100 percent right. She was absolutely awful at lying. "I..."
Can I tell Obi-Wan?
Do what feels right to you. If he is trustworthy, then do what you must. Be careful though, the Daughter advised Ahsoka.
Even though it probably confused Obi-Wan, Ahsoka nodded in response.
"I will tell you the truth."
"Good," Obi-Wan smiled at Ahsoka, and suddenly everything seemed like it was going to be okay. The Jedi Master was indeed a trustworthy person, so Ahsoka finally felt like she could safely vent to someone without having to worry about them spilling her secrets. The Togruta sighed and took a moment to gather her thoughts before she completely launched herself into the story of her life over the past week.
"Well...to start everything off, I know what the Force wave that you felt on the day of my death was," Ahsoka began, a small smile playing on her lips.
"You do?" Obi-Wan asked in surprise. Sure, he knew hat he was probably going to learn quite a bit of new things today, but the reasoning behind the Force awakening was not one of them. However, he was intrigued, so he pushed her to continue.
"Yes, it was in fact, me," Ahsoka replied in a careful voice. She didn't wat to come out with too much information at once so she wouldn't overwhelm him, but that was proving to be slightly difficult. The Jedi Master was already confused due to the lack of context to support the large claim she had just made.
"How? What in the world could you do while you were unconscious that was so powerful?"
"Um..." Ahsoka was already lost. How in the world was she going to explain this to him for it to make sense? Sure, she had given her story to Master Sinube with no problem, but that had been slightly more different circumstances. Compared to everything that she has been through since then, what she told the retired master was only half of the story. Besides, Obi-Wan probably didn't even know who the Gray Jedi were. Finally, an idea dawned in her mind, "Obi-Wan, do you remember Mortis?"
"I thought we weren't bringing that place back up again," Obi-Wan argued, though quickly stopped as he realized that this was probably important to what Ahsoka was about to tell him, "Yeah... I just so happen to."
"Well... whenever I died there..."
"How did you know that you died?"
"That's a...story for another time. Anyways, whenever I died there, the Daughter had a chance to look inside my soul when her energy was being passed to me. Well, guess what she saw," Ahsoka dryly joked, but Obi-Wan wasn't having any of it.
"I'm not in the mood for guessing games Ahsoka. If I was, we'd be here all night and then some."
Ahsoka smirked and nodded in agreement, "Well... she saw balance and peace. She saw the Light and the Dark. She saw emotion, yet compassion. She saw...gray..."
"Wait a minute," Obi-Wan yelped in alarm, "gray?! As in..."
"Yes, Gray Jedi. When she looked inside my Force being, she saw a buried legacy. She saw the Gray Jedi."
Obi-Wan sat silently for several moments in shock. They weren't even a couple minutes into their talk and he was already baffled beyond measure. For the longest time, he had always thought that the Gray Jedi were just an old folktale that Qui-Gon had enjoyed sharing with him. Now, without any warning, he was being told that they were indeed very, very real, and that one of his best friends just so happened to be one. Or, in this matter, perhaps the one.
"You're joking..." Obi-Wan pressed in disbelief, "all this is a sick joke. Right?"
"Obi-Wan," Ahsoka firmly replied, "You asked for the truth, and I'm giving it to you."
"I suppose you're right," Obi-Wan finally relented as he set is cup of tea down. He wasn't sure he could stomach the liquid anymore, "Carry on."
"Well..." Ahsoka wandered off to a fake window that was on the other side of her room. Sure, it wasn't exactly displaying the real scenery of Coruscant, but it still eased her mind a little bit as she looked for the words to say, "all three of the celestials from Mortis decided that... that I was the key in restoring balance to the galaxy and preventing the horrible tragedies that are about to unfold..."
"Ahsoka," Obi-Wan asked, looking slightly shaken, "What... what tragedies? Isn't the Chosen One supposed to keep balance?"
Ahsoka sighed as she turned away from the window and met his gaze. "The Chosen One can't do anything if... if he's the main cause of the issues. And, as far as what will happen in the future, I am not to tell you anything more. I can't risk you or Anakin getting caught up in these dangerous affairs.
"But Ahsoka," Obi-Wan argued in a slightly raised voice, "if it is so dangerous, then you shouldn't be involved! You're only a kid! We need to get the Council involved!"
"No!" Ahsoka snapped back. Seeing the look of surprise on Obi-Wan's face, she took her tone down and continued in a more calm manner, "No, we can't. Sure, I may be young, but I am designated to do this. I'm the only one who can stop these events Obi-Wan... and for now... not even you can get in my way. I will let you and some others in on the ordeal when the time comes, but for now, it isn't time."
"I see," Obi-Wan returned softly, "but please do tell me the rest of your story."
"Well, about my resurrection from the dead..."
"I knew you were lying about not knowing!" Obi-Wan interjected, causing Ahsoka to roll her eyes.
"Anyways, I was saying that the Force saved me from death, namely the Daughter, Son, and Father. Ever since then, they have kind of been a part of me, hence my strengthened presence and extremely high midichlorian count."
"But your midichlorian count is normal?"
"Oh blast it," Ahsoka muttered as she realized her mistake, "Well, that isn't exactly my real count. The reason why it took me so long to get the results to you is because Barriss had to make me fall asleep since I was having a panic attack. My actual count is...200,000."
"What?!" Obi-Wan burst, "There has to be a mistake! That's...that's not possible!"
"Yeah, well neither is being self-revived from the dead and having three celestial spirits inhabit your body," Ahsoka flatly replied, "I mean seriously, I thought that by now something like this wouldn't surprise you that much."
"Well," Obi-Wan chuckled, "I guess you are kind of right. But still...that's 10 times higher than Anakin's!"
"Get this," Ahsoka added as she leaned forward and lowered her voice, "the Father said that my potential was much higher. Apparently that's weak compared to what I could do with the Mortis entities."
"That would make...a small amount of sense," Obi-Wan said, tracing his fingers over his beard thoughtfully.
"Anyways, that is just the start of my story... oh boy I've got some things to tell you. After that, I've frequently talked with the Daughter and the Father, as well as the Son occasionally. They've been my guiding light through this all, and even helped me uncover a hidden Sith. One that is going to wreck havoc on the Republic if I don't do something quickly. Anyways, they guided me to a planet to spend some time on and discover things about myself."
"And that planet would be?"
Ahsoka hesitated at this. Should she just lie and say a random planet name? No, she had sworn herself to telling Obi-Wan the truth.
"Dantooine."
"You went through Myto's Arrow?" Obi-Wan asked. At this point, he wasn't even going to question that Dantooine was actually the planet she had gone to. She had already told him so much, why would she lie about this?
"Yeah...with the aid of the Force. It was pretty cool," Ahsoka laughed.
"Why Dantooine? What's so special about the secluded planet?"
"That," Ahsoka sighed as she went to grab a cup of tea for herself, "isn't something that I can disclose to you. When the time comes, I will be able to tell you."
It didn't take much to tell that Obi-Wan was a little hurt. He had always tried his best to be there for the Togruta, and to have her keep such secrets from him stung a little bit. However, he stood from his position and walked over to where Ahsoka was. He wrapped her in a tight embrace and even swayed lightly side to side.
"It's okay, Ahsoka. Just know that when you need anything, both me and Anakin will always be here for you. You can tell me everything when you're ready."
Ahsoka was slightly taken aback at the sudden action, but she soon relaxed and hugged the Jedi Master. Though she would deny any person that ever tried to claim it, moisture began to form in the corners of her eyes. She needed this. She needed someone to confide in that would listen and care. Sure, she had Anakin, but she knew better than to involve her in these issues. Since he was indeed the very source of the galaxy's destruction, Ahsoka figured that letting him know anything would cause a huge damper in things. For the better or the worse, Ahsoka wasn't sure, but for his sake, it didn't matter. At least for now, he wouldn't know.
"Thanks Obi-Wan," she finally whispered. They let go from the hug and shared a comforting glance, "just promise me one thing."
"What is it Ahsoka?"
"You can't tell anyone...I have to do all of this alone, no matter how much you don't like it."
"You have my word, Ahsoka," Obi-Wan replied with a soft smile.
±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-±-
Ahsoka sat on her bed silently. It had been a while since Obi-Wan had left her and Anakin's sleeping quarters, and now she was all by herself. This was good though; now she had the opportunity on being able to capture Chancellor Palpatine and prove that he was evil.
The Togruta sat quietly, pondering. Not only would she need to find evidence of him being a Sith, but she needed to discover a way to prove that he was conspiring with the Separatists.
Everything was starting to fall into place for her. Dooku couldn't be his own master... there had to be someone else in the picture. Something much larger, and that fit Palpatine's description. All the times that Dooku had somehow gained information against the Republic must have been the Chancellor. Having such a large position of power easily gave him access to sensitive information to share with Dooku.
Not only that...but Ahsoka thought back to all the times that Palpatine had tried to push the Senate to making decisions that would hurt the Republic. Looking back, Ahsoka remembered how something about the Chancellor had always seemed off. He always acted too sweet through his words, but his actions would prove to be much more different. How in Coruscant did nobody else figure out Palpatine's evil intentions before her? Were the Jedi really that... she hated to say this... stupid?
"I don't know..." Ahsoka grunted as she started to give up, "I can't just walk up and tell him I know he's a Sith and demand he shows me his powers..." she paused before continuing, "actually... I could. No. No, I can't. I need to be much smarter than that. I'm dealing with an evil mastermind here, I'll need to be much more careful."
Then a thought crossed her mind. Her visions... she had a good feeling that they were of a plan orchestrated by the Chancellor himself. If she were to arrest him right this moment, she would never learn of his bad intentions. Plus, once she discovered what the scenes she had envisioned were, they might be enough evidence to prove that he was conspiring with the Separatists.
"Wait a minute..." Ahsoka whispered to herself, "I think I have an idea."
At this point, she didn't care how odd it was that she was talking to herself. However, something small like this that might point to her being mentally insane meant nothing to her. In fact, she almost accepted the fact that she might not actually be in the right state of mind anymore. With all that she had been through over the past week, well, actually her whole life to be honest, it definitely wouldn't surprise her. Perks of being a fairly young girl involved in a brutal war.
However, that was very much beside the point. Ahsoka finally thought that she had discovered one of the many ways that she could prove that Palpatine was a Sith Lord.
"They use a midichlorian test on many Jedi and sometimes senators... so what is the problem with testing the Chancellor?"
Gotcha, Ahsoka thought with a smirk, see, I can be smart too.
Now all she had to do was figure out a way to get the Chancellor to take the test. No doubt, he would avoid the test at all measures to make sure that he wasn't discovered. Also, who was to say that he wouldn't do exactly what Ahsoka and Barriss had done?
This is going to prove to be much more difficult than I thought...
Ahsoka knew that at any moment in time, she could just call on one of the celestial figures of Mortis to come to her assistance. Sure, that would be much easier, but the Togruta knew that she couldn't. If she needed to become the leader of the Jedi and help guide them, she would need to work on her own strategizing and leadership skills. She couldn't ask for help every time that times got tough.
Was it possible for her to secretly advise the test? She could anonymously tip the Council towards administering a test, then could secretly watch the whole entire process. If there was anything that seemed fishy, she could intervene. Sure, that would be extremely difficult, and she might be spending some quality time in some air vents, but it would be worth it if she could catch him.
Then what?
If the Council was immediately warned of the Sith Lord, then he would be taken into custody before Ahsoka could further investigate. The midchlorian test would have to wait for now, first she had to discover what had been in her visions.
Ahsoka rooted through her memories. The visions she had seen were of many, many Jedi dying. The Togruta was doubtful that any single Light-sensitive user had made it out alive during the attack.
She thought about her memory of the younglings being killed, but for know she decided to focus on the other memory. On the battlefield, there was something different about how the Jedi were being shot down...
It wasn't by Separatist fire.
It was the clones'.
But how was that possible? Ahsoka knew that the loyal soldiers wouldn't turn on their generals, even if their life was on the line. They somehow had to be forced to... in some twisted way that was out of their control. The Togruta would need to discover a way to figure out why the clones would turn on the Jedi.
Fortunately for Ahsoka, she knew exactly where to begin.
First chapter of the day is up... I'd just like to say that the next one is probably going to be my favorite of the two...
