Welcome To Today
Roman put his hands on his hips bossily. "Honestly, how long must it take? Even we managed to get dressed faster than them!"
"Roman, please, remember the difference of resources. We had the Book whereas Virgil has to try explain to Patton what the items of clothing are and how to wear them." Logan said formerly, with a hint of exasperation. The logical god caught Joan's' confused stare and explained, "We've only ever worn togas and robes. Your adaptations to them are all quite new to us."
Joan nodded but they still gave the two weird glances.
"Still, Thomas went up there half an hour ago! What could they be doing?" Whined Roman. Roman may be beautiful but he constantly reminded Joan of a little kid. Someone who'd been given attention, presents and affection. Someone who'd had people bending to his every wish. "Can you check the Book to see what they're doing, Logan?"
Logan frowned, looking almost affronted. "I can't just use the Book in every occasion! They may be sharing a private moment together! They are cousins, after all."
"You wouldn't think it." Joan commented with a mild shrug. "Patton's so lovely and Virgil's a creepy cookie."
Roman hummed lowly in agreement as Thomas started to head down from the top of the stairs. "Sorry, guys, they're having a bit of trouble." He said casually, as if it explained it all.
"What was going on?" Roman asked nosily.
Thomas just shrugged, walking to the hallway to try find some shoes. Virgil appeared next, the hood of Thomas's' jacket thrown above his head, with Patton in close pursuit. Logan and Roman moved to try get to Patton, obviously curious what took so long, but Patton ignored them, instead turning to beam at Virgil, who looked quite surprised that Patton had decided to stay.
"Uh, rude!" Roman gasped, obviously taking a dramatic amount of offense to this small action.
Logan snapped is head to Roman. "Honestly, Roman, if you want to make complaints, keep it down! We don't need you to start another fight!"
Roman's' face darkened slightly, but he shook it off. Joan left the two gods and they headed over to Thomas.
"Hey. Thomas."
"Hi, Joan."
"So... What took you three so long?"
Thomas just shrugged, fiddling with the laces of his sneakers. "Doesn't matter, really. I see that Roman and Logan managed to work out modern clothes?"
Joan nodded, sitting next to their friend. "Yeah, they used their Book thingy."
"Woah, that's really useful." Thomas's' head to Joan. "Maybe their Book could tell me how to become the president!"
"It probably could," Joan laughed, "And maybe it could teach you how to start being social!"
Thomas gasped, with a hand flying to his head and his eyes fluttering closed. "Goodness, I feel so offended!"
Virgil cleared his throat from in front of them, making the mortals jump. "S-Sorry for earlier..." Virgil mumbled, eyes glued to his hands as he intertwined his fingers. "I was in a bad mood..."
"It's fine, Virgil!" Thomas said brightly.
Joan nodded. "Yeah, to be honest, it was pretty cool."
Virgil gave a half-smile nervously and then his eyes narrowed. "Why are you putting on-" he hesitated for a moment, trying to remember the word, "-shoes?"
Thomas jumped to his feet, gaining everyone's' attention. "Gods! Welcome to today!" And he swung open his front door to show the god's' first ever sight of a street. A dustbin fell over and spilled into the pavement from across the road.
