Virgil glanced at out of the window and turned away from it, sinking against the counter with a blushing face. Remus peered out for him and sighed. "Are you ever going to give up your crush on him? It's been generations, Virge, he's never gonna catch on!"
"He might..." Mumbled Virgil. He shook his head clear of his gay thoughts and glanced back out of the window. Roman and Logan were both wearing earthling swimming trunks, messing around. Logan was holding his book, standing in the sea, only as deep as his knees while Roman had run ahead, already waist-deep, with his choker tight around his neck. Virgil forced his face to settle back to its' pallor complexion and slipped his ring further up his finger. If anyone had been looking in the camper-van, they'd have seen a boy vanish.
Good thing no one was paying attention to him anymore.

Patton splashed Logan, laughing at the protests. He stumbled through the sea and flicked water at Logan's' chest.
"Pat! Don't splash the Book! Mother will kill me!" Said Logan hotly, twisting so the water landed on his back.
"Give the book to Talyn, then, if you're so worried about it!" Cackled Roman, splashing Logan from the other side.
Logan scowled, wading backwards. "Fine! I will!" And he turned and tried to march through to water to the sunbathing mortal.
Talyn lowered their pair of sunglasses. "Logan. Bro. Sup?"
"Can you take care of the Book? I do not want it to be splashed and I cannot let it be left unattended."
Talyn hesitated. Despite travelling with the gods for three days and being far more comfortable with them, the Book still scared them. The idea that something knew everything about you and could tell you the answer to anything with a simple thought made them uncomfortable even holding it, nervous that it would prise into their brain. They took the Book.
Logan nodded. "Thank you, Talyn. You can always give it to Thomas or Joan if you want."
Talyn shrugged. "Go have fun, calculator watch!"
Unsure whether to question them about it or not, Logan walked back to the sea, greeting its' coolness. Roman walked up to him with a large smile plastered on his face and whispered in his ear, "Those women are watching me."
Logan followed the others' glance and found the women Roman meant. They were on the older side of youth, thirty-four at the most. A group of nine, they watched Roman with predatory hunger and Logan saw how uncomfortable they made his best friend.
"I guess you want them to stop staring?"
"Yep."
"Why can't you get Patton to do this?"
Roman fixed him with a look. "Really?"
Logan sighed. "Fine." He awkwardly slipped his arm around his best friend's' waist and the women turned away with sad, petulant groans. The god knew it wasn't his friends' fault. Roman was beautiful and, even in Olympus, quick deters like this were almost daily. Patton never liked helping with this, never understanding how serious a simple attraction could become - he always saw the best in people.
When the final woman had torn her gaze away from Roman, the two gods jumped away from each other instantly.
"I'm sorry you have to do that all the time, Lo..." Roman apologised, running his hand through his hair.
Logan gave him a sympathetic glance. "That's fine Roman. I can't blame you for your magic. It would be like blaming Patton's' outbursts when he gets emotional." Roman returned the smile, although it looked nearly forced.
Patton came running up out of nowhere, grabbing his friends hands and yanking them deeper into the sea. "Less chatting, more playing!" He squealed happily, pulling them forwards.
The trio laughed, taking turns to throw water upon each other, or breaking under the surface to avoid an oncoming splash. They behaved almost like toddlers, yelling and laughing without a care in the world.
Logan let the water lap at his bare skin, kicking his legs as they waded deeper into the ocean. He gave into his desire to fall back, floating on his back as he stared at the cloudless Floridian sky. Logan sighed, allowing himself to loosen as he bobbed harmlessly in the water. It was almost like someone had switched on 'off' switch on those around him. Now, it was just Logan and his mind. Logan and a time of no worry.
Roman laughed as he dived under the water to miss a splash from Patton. His eyes didn't water from the salty sea that surrounded him, and he could feel his hair ballooning in this sudden loss of control. He placed his hands on the wet, soft sand. It was a curious comparison from how everything felt above this shiny, blue escape. Up there, it was heavy and uncomfortable. Down here, it billowed in tiny clouds and he couldn't help but smile. Up there were all the eyes of people who felt drawn to him. Down here? There was no one.
Patton allowed his friends to retreat into their own minds and he stared out to the beach. It was crowded and filled with laughter. Filled with people. That's where Patton belonged. In the warm company of those he loved. Like Logan, Virgil and Roman. He twisted to face the empty ocean that stretched to whatever lands lay beyond the limits of sight. Lands he wanted to explore when he got home. The home was where ever you were happy. And, as Patton felt Roman resurface for a small breath before diving below again, Patton knew it was where his friends were happy. And they were all he needed to be happy.
Virgil watched them from the caravan's' door, arms folded as he was invisible and muted to everyone around him. That's when he heard them. Voices that weren't excited to be at the beach on such a beautiful day. Voices that shouted in hushed whispers. Voices that might as well have been screaming, 'We're dangerous,' at the top of their lungs.
"Are you sure this is the van?"
"It matches the number plate, sir, and CCTV cameras saw it heading towards this very beach."
"Now we just need to follow the plan. Find the drivers and get the aliens."
Aliens? Virgil bristled and one stepped into his view. He froze. Oh, no. He couldn't do this. He couldn't do a thing against them, he wasn't a murderer. Yet.
The man was huge but looked hilariously scrawny at the same time. His arms were wrapped in large muscles behind a tight, black suit. His eyes were blue, like a hot flame. He towered above a smaller man, whose fate caused Virgil to become quickly more anxious. Oh, no. He was going to-
"Is that them, sir?" Asked the smaller man, pointing to Talyn's' distant figure.
The large man smiled. "Has to be. Their hair matches the photo. And you can see the other suspects with them." He started to march across the beach, smaller man closely following.
Virgil panicked, and sprinted ahead of them, ghosting himself as much as he could to pick up speed. He pelted across the beach, tripping and landing next to Thomas that made sort clouds of sand lift briefly.
"Thomas! Thomas!" He said desperately, remaining invisible to the mortal eye.
"Wh-What? Virgil?" Thomas looked around.
Virgil grabbed Thomas by the arm, locating the mortal of his direction. "Thomas, please! The men in suits! They're coming for you! We have to go, now!"
"V-Virgil, what do you mean? How do you know?"
"Thomas, we don't have time for this, we-!"
It was too late. The men had arrived.
The big one stood by Talyn with a large, unnatural smile. "I'm sorry to bother you three, but is that your caravan?" He asked.
"Yes, it is. Can we help you?" Asked Talyn.
"That's enough for us. You're coming to the station." The man snatched Talyn by their wrist, yanking them to their feet. Some people turned to watch.
Talyn stumbled back. "What the hell are you talking about? Get off me!"
The mans' smile turned sympathetic but failed to hide the accomplishment. "We have solid evidence to believe that you and your friends have stolen this camper-van. We need to take you to the police station for questioning." Standbyers pulled out their phones, recording this show before them.
In the ocean, Patton saw the commotion. "Logan! Logan, something's happening over there!" The other god reluctantly stopped floating but instantly frowned upon seeing the situation. He grabbed Roman, who still lay comfortably underwater and dragged him to the surface.
"Logan, what the Underworld, man?" Roman yelped before seeing it too. The three quickly began to wade forwards.
Thomas could hear Virgil's' terrified breathing and stood up. "Perhaps I can smoothen this out. Our friend lent us this caravan for our road trip because we're making a long trip and it'd be far too expensive to loan one. Maybe you're looking for someone else?"
"Exactly!" Joan promised, jumping to his feet too. "Could you please let go of our friend?"
The man narrowed his eyes. "I don't think I will. You lot are coming to the station with me now-!"
Virgil appeared on his feet, arm thrown out at the man. A yellow blur locked into the mans' chest, making him stumble back with a yell and let go of Talyn. The observers 'Ooh'ed loudly, more phones getting whipped from pockets to record this amazing show before them.
"I warned you, Thomas! I warned you!" Snapped Virgil.
"Run now, lecture later!" Thomas answered, grabbing Talyn's' wrist just as they snatched up the Book.
Joan quickly gathered the bags of clothes and sunscreen, running further up the beach to the caravan.
Logan rushed onto the sand before the other two and shoved off the smaller man who tried to tackle him. Roman ran up too, ignoring the gasps and whistles from onlookers. He took the Book from Talyn as he caught up with them and Thomas. Roman hurled it into the hands of Logan who had already reached the camper-van.
Patton tripped onto the beach as Virgil finally bolted after the mortals and other two gods. The bubbly god reached for Virgil, who spun around to catch him, but they were too late. The huge man grabbed Patton by his shoulders, wrenching him away from his cousin.
Virgil screamed and began to run for Patton when Patton began to yell. And Patton's' yelling grew to a furious screech and lightening erupted across his entire body. The large man yelped, letting go of Patton as every part of him crackled with electricity. Patton sprinted for his cousin, the two rushing across to the caravan.
"Start it up!" Yelled Virgil at Joan who sat driver's' seat.
"Patton! Virgil! Hurry!" Shouted Logan, stretching an arm forwards. Virgil shoved Patton into Logans' grasp just as the engine kicked in to start. The scrawny god turned to see the other two men stumbling through the sand to get to them. Joan started the engine and the caravan began to lurch forwards.
"Virgil!" Yelled Roman, reaching desperately for the other. Virgil spun around, making eye contact with the other god. He moved to grab him but the caravan was already moving too far from reach.
Roman swung himself forwards, trying but failing to snatch Virgil onto the camper-van. "No! Joan, stop, we have to get Virgil!"
"We can't stop!" Joan shouted over the whistling air. "If we stop now, they'll catch us!"
Virgil's' eyes were soulless as the caravan sped away and Roman dropped to the ground. Patton wrapped an arm around him and began to sob. The Virgil suddenly began to wander, walk, jog then run towards them at inhumane speed, crossing the distance faster than anything. He leapt, rolling on the impact of the caravan floor and smacking into the small table. "Shut the door!" He yelled and Logan pulled it shut.
The silence was instant and loud. Joan pulled onto a main road, relaxing with a loud breath.
"What was that?!" Asked Talyn, eyes wide as they climbed carefully into a seat.
"It must be the man looking for us," Logan breathed. "He must've known what we were driving..."
Thomas awkwardly clambered onto the bench, reaching for the seatbelt. "So we get a new vehicle?"
"No way," Joan said firmly. "Valerie will murder us."
"We'll just have to be careful..." Roman whispered, leaning against the caravan door.
Virgil stood up, helping Patton to his feet. "Can I be the first and only person to say: I told you so?"
.:*:.
Only an hour later, Valerie's' phone binged. It was a YouTube 'Trending' notification. She clicked it open. A video about strange people with magic running from the police in a caravan. Might as well watch it.
She was greeted by an HD picture of Talyn struggling in the grip of the large man who'd been at her door a few days ago. And then Thomas was there and so was Joan. And then a man their age appeared out of nowhere, sending a stream of yellow mist into the mans' chest. He stumbled back, the yellow mist circling around him viciously as Talyn snatched a large book from the ground and ran off-camera with Thomas. Joan darted away with a large bag.
Then two more men ran past, one eye-wateringly attractive and the other nearly as pale as the man still pointing at the large man. Then the camera swivelled to reveal her camper-van in the distance. Then the pallor man ran across camera before stopping and spinning around with a yell.
A rounder, freckled man, looking more like a boy, was trapped in the arms of the big man. He bagn to crackle with some sort of static, screaming. The man holding him suddenly jumped back, as though electrocuted. The two men were running away from the big man, into her campervan.
The pale one missed it as Joan kicked it into action, speeding away. Then he was suddenly a blur, jumping onto her campervan. The door slammed closed as the caravan vanished from sight.
And there were so many more videos of them.
