Rise

I watched the two figures approached, looking completely different than what I remembered.

Steve was shy at first due to them looking so strange, but they noticed him and let him approach them.

"What have you made?" They asked

"A few things, but Hero has been working a lot harder than me, go see his objects before I bore you with the story I have." I told them brightly.

They gave nods and approached Hero who was still floating and held his hands out so he could teleport them away.

I motioned for Steve and the Villager to fallow once Hero and the keepers of this world left.

I went back to my house and brought them inside. "Are you two hungry?" I asked. The villager shook its head, Steve gave a nod. I went to the kitchen and began to make something for him.

For some reason I began to humm a tune that I couldn't recognize but I just hummed and cooked. This was the closest I could get to actually remembering my past, tunes I would humm and turn into disks. And they ranged and varied greatly. Some I felt like they were too personal, others like this were just a happy kinda tune. And I liked it.

Steve sat at the table, now able to sit in a chair while at least kneeling without much help, the villager also sitting down.

I just wish I knew why I was cursed and who cursed me.........

-fast forward a couple years-

Steve looked plenty old enough to be on his own. But how could I set him free?

I sat on the forest ground as I watched him mine up trees like I taught him, he was learning craft recipes.

I heard footsteps behind me so I closed my eyes and hoped it would stop. His hand rested on my shoulder.

"Let him go." Is all I heard slip from my brothers lips. "I've got the materials you need to fix his memory's. He will still know who you are, just not as father, but as what you are." He told me, trying to assure me. But it didn't help.

"But what about that dream? He was being attacked and nearly died." I asked as I looked at him.

"There are no hostile mobs. So, let's just avoid making dangerous mobs that can kill him." Hero told me. "Look, I'm gonna miss him too. So please get over it so I can too." He begged me. And I saw a pain in those eyes he bore. It seemed almost lilac in this lighting.

"O-ok. Get him and tell him it's time for bed. He will lay in his bed as the sun sets and we will do what we must." I said as I took these feelings and his them deep within me. I blocked myself from this pain and this love Steve brought to me. I would make myself forget a good bit of actually being around Steve to lesson my own pain.

I walked to the smaller house Steve made for us. It wasn't much but I liked it.

I walked to my own crafting station as I saw everything laid out to me. Hero only told me that I've used it before and that I wouldn't be able to remember. So maybe... maybe I've done this to myself? Figures I've tortured myself.

I looked down at my hands as they already went to work. I somehow automatically knew how to make it. But to have only used it twice? The mind is a curious thing.

I heard Hero and Steve walk in chatting about new structures he was planning, new creations, and his own home he was trying to make.

I tried to listen in but I just couldn't hear much of the conversation to make sense of it.

It wasn't long before Hero was by my side and giving me a side hug as I looked at the substance I made.

"Don't worry. I can keep an eye on him from a distance. Code and Seed will go back during the night and reset the world. Steve will know how to do everything." Hero continued to assure me.

I said nothing. I just grabbed the bowl and peaked into Steve's room and saw him sleeping before going in and sitting on the ground beside the low bed.

I waited a few more seconds before coating my hand in the substance and I began to lather Steve's hair back with it. I whispered soft chants as I closed my eyes and picked memories. A golden glow sparked from my fingers as it reached Steve. I was killing the memories as I saw them and gave them the chants which were basically kill commands.

When it was all over I put the bowl down and wiped my hand off before just looking at him and I felt the tears tugging at my eyes.

I grabbed a chunk of the liquid and used it on myself, desperate to rid of these memories, praying if I lost some than this wouldn't be so hard!

I was right. I didn't feel the need to cry as much, I didn't feel this overwhelming sadness, I could actually be happy to see him go. So I picked him up and carried Steve out to Seed and Code who Hero brought to this house.

I smiled as I saw them. The villager was already introduced to a small village and has been intertwined with the world so they will grow in numbers.

"I'm ready." I said brightly. My brother looked worried but I wasn't sure why. Shouldn't he be glad that I'm happy to set free one of my most intelligent and interesting creations?

"I'm glad" they said in unison. "Steve shall have no interaction with you two. Spare him from confinement and let him explore. Like his maker intended." They said as they took Steve from me and I just smiled. I was glad to see him all grown and ready to do what I wanted to see him doing!

But I could feel the heavy gaze of my brother as he watched me. He turned around and walked off.
